    Go Hive!
This changes nothing for us, obviously, but it's still nice to be treated like a human being by a corporation for once. I think WB deserves some credit here. They actually took the time to explain things to us. And it is as we suspected: we created a bad precedent for the company and its licencing income. Which is alright, we get it - our bad. Of course, the incident was grossly mishandled to begin with, we should not have been threatened. If not for the threat we would have just continued quietly archiving the pages and renaming workouts but instead we almost went to war.

Anyhow, we are perfectly satisfied with how it all went down and we hold no grudge. We will be a lot more careful in the future in how we design (and name) our workouts. You should see the old routines come back (under new names) shortly. Maybe one day we will get big enough to have a special licencing fund and be able to pay the licence to bring all of those workouts back. One day.

You guys are all awesome. We haven't had the chance to thank you for all of your support and encouragement during this entire ordeal. It means a lot. Truly. THANK YOU!

    Go DAREBEES! Go HIVE!

Glad to see it all worked out
And you're right: whoever wrote this response deserves some credit.

Phew...so we can call off the war now? Guys, get the Spartans and those Ninjas back, we don't need 'em anymore.

That is actually a decent response, well done! And I am really happy everything was solved in a civil manner, and thank you for keeping us updated.
Now we can go back to our daily badassery :llama-cool:

Yes, please do get some sleep, neilarey - we don't want you to keel over .

And yes, this email is much nicer than the screen shot you posted earlier - that one had a distinct feeling of bullying to it, whereas this one is factual and to the point. I'm still not happy with WB, and opinions might differ one the "most progressive and fan friendly fan policies", but for now I'll refrain from making voodoo dolls. Might make a single one, though .

neilarey, honestly that was way more than I expected from them. And you're right. Mr. Goold handled it like an idiot and should not be handling PR in this regard.

Although it sucks they wouldn't work out a deal, there are plenty of other sources to name workouts after. Ancient literature, Open Source comics (they exist!), many many literary works that have since lost copyright and are open to use for everyone.. the list is endless.

Proceeding carefully from here on should help to alleviate these issues in the future. And, as I stated on the other thread, it may be a good idea to contact Bethesda and other game companies before they take issue. I think they will be more open to this form of fan service.

While their licencing policy makes sense, the question is... why should any of the other companies know whether Darebee pays the licence or not? How are they gonna know if we don't tell them, or WB doesn't? But that thing aside, imagine the posibilities.

There could've been made a deal with them about workouts. When their movies come out, they could do challenges on social media and give rewards to their fans. "How Batman are you? Do this workout and find out whether you're Batman or Robin material! Extra credit for cosplay videos!" We could've promoted the movie by making ie. Batman workout sticky on front page for the first week of movie showing. And since it'd be a mutual interest deal, none of the others could complain about licensing... But for these things they'd actually have to make an effort, or give themselves 2 seconds to think about it.

Airwoman I am afraid they don't see this as an opportunity. It's a massive corporation, they don't need us to do all that.

neilarey, and I'm that endeavor, your dream kind of became their next new moneymaker. Know what? We all know the truth. That is what matters. Even they know the truth, if they don't admit to it. YOU are what got this off the ground and we don't give a shit what anyone else says, you are the real superhero here and we will always know you are the one that got this show on the road. Fact is, WB can't match a fan base as loyal as yours, numbers mean nothing when passion is the real identifier. We all love this place and the abundance of positive energies bursting from it, and we owe it all to you. We all know the truth. Some heroes don't wear capes... They wear exhausted faces from keeping all the Darebees in line.

So there are some humans working in this company who take their time to explain the reasons...

                      Thanks for Update
                      You deserve now some sleep

neilarey You know why this guy is so polite, you just gave them a business idea, I wont be surprised if they collaborate with fitness expert and launch Batman and Superman Workouts of their own, but yess unlike Mr.Baarry Goold this guy has some decency.

I'm a total noob here, but I registered just to chime in (and because you guys kick some serious behind). I would let this cool off and approach it from a different angle. I sell big companies marketing opportunities etc. as my job/career. It is possible that if you use the Hive, the analytics of your social media presence, and any other public facing aspect of DareBee as a vehicle for DC Comics/WB to sponsor. In other words it could be possible to have them pay the site for naming workouts after their characters and other properties. I believe this was alluded to by an earlier poster, but the irony is that if you are charging them for it, they may see it as more valuable. You could also approach other brands similarly.
To give credence to my knowing what I am talking about, the company I work for organizes NY ComicCon (not me I work in less interesting sectors). A lot of the brands and celebrities are paying to have their products/brands associated with the event. Over time Darebee could have similar leverage.
