We have, over the past few days been brainstorming looking for a new name for the site and project. While NR served us well until now we do need something a little more evocative, inclusive and descriptive. Something that will appeal equally well to girls and boys, newbies and hardened fitness fans. It has not been an easy search and each of your ideas and opinions helped us a great deal, not just in giving us a possible name but also in showing us how deeply the NR project resonates with you.
We think we have one that captures all of the above qualities: DAREBEE. The dare part is self-explanatory. It takes courage to face the limitations of ourselves and try to exceed them. It is daring to believe that we can refashion ourselves and, hopefully, the world, in small ways. Life itself is a dare we should never refuse to accept. The bee part arose out of all the qualities you described in the forum. Bees are workers and warriors. They are important in the balance of every natural ecosystem on the planet. yet they are also quiet and mostly invisible.
Like us, they do not give up. They believe in what they do and their presence as they go from plat to plant makes flowering possible. Their cross-pollination results in new crops and fruit, just like, we hope, the sharing of ideas, support and our passion for life, here, results in more of us achieving what we want, more people learning that fitness is not an unattainable goal and that a good quality of life can be had regardless of who you are and where you are. What we do, as we train, is not easy yet we all manage to do it, encouraging each other even as we train in relative isolation. That's a strong component of the bee community that resonated with us, but it also played nicely in the phonetic part of Dare-to-be which we intend to make more use of later.
It will look cool on a Tee
but .. tell us what you think.
