It's time to take stock of my 2020 goals.
    .

    My goals for 2020 were
    Push-ups: 24,000 (year)
    Pull-ups: 2000 (year)
    Indoor Rowing: 625,000 meters
Complete The Nerd Fitness "Walking to Mordor" Challenge
Beat my training streak (230 days)

The gym at work closed back in March due to COVID-19. Therefore, I didn't have access to an indoor rower which made it impossible to reach my Indoor Rowing goal. I also did my pull-up sessions at the gym. However, I have a pull-up bar at home, so I can't blame COVID-19 for not achieving my pull-up goal, but I never managed to get started with pull-ups at home. It will be a focus area for 2021. It was also challenging to find a proper weekly exercise routine after I started studying. It will also be an important focus area in 2021.

Although I did not achieve all of my goals, I am satisfied with my efforts, also because COVID-19 and my studies completely changed the framework. I take a lot of experience with me into 2021, which I will use to put together my training goals for 2021, which will serve as beacons for my efforts in 2021.

    Goodbye 2020 and welcome 2021

      Goals for 2021

My focus for 2021 is general fitness, emphasizing strength/tone, streamline, and flexibility.
To achieve this, I have set the following goals for 2021.

      Push-ups: 24.000

      Pull-ups: 1.200
A Virtual Trip Around The World 1890: I plan to reach Cairo (London-Istanbul- Cairo), which is approximately 5.000 km of walking.
Consistency: Complete four programs and 24 workouts
To try something new: Complete 12 new workouts
To challenge me: Superhuman - how many sets can I do?
Self-care: Read six books and collect and paint my Blood Bowl teams
      Weight: 80 kg
      Body fat %: 17

I break down my annual goals into smaller targets, which act as beacons for whether I'm on the right track or not.

      Targets - push-ups:
      Monthly target: 2000 push-ups

      Targets - pull-ups:
      Monthly target: 100 pull-ups

      Target - Walking to Cairo
      Daily ≥ 10.000 steps

Target - consistency and something new:
I aim to finish one program every quarter and a new workout every month. I plan to train four times a week, but it depends on my work-study-life balance.

I'm as always excited to see what the year will bring.

Having reached my push-up goal in 2020 still gives me the "Yes, I did it! "-feeling which is very motivating for my training.

My inner voice tells me: "You did it last year. You can do it this year too."

It has taken me by surprise how big a motivating factor it is.

I took another rest day from High Gear. The Loop was a perfect choice for my workout of the day.

Each exercise flows into the next one, so you’re working out non-stop at a steady pace until you, well … drop or the allotted time runs out (whichever one comes first).

                      Workout of the day
Loop modified with ec (20 minutes/13 sets/no rest between sets). I did ten push-ups instead of two. I also did Knee-to-elbow crunches standing and ten jumping jacks as the last exercise in each set.

                      Stretching
Foundation Day 4 lv III (no rest between sets)

                      Jump Rope Challenge Day 4

Splits Challenge Day 4 (leg raises done in two sets of 50 reps without rest)

                      Daily push-up Challenge Day 1 (push-ups: 3 sets of ten regular push-ups)

The Impossible Abs Challenge Day 15

We are on our second nationwide lockdown because of COVID-19. So we are back to homeschooling and working from home.

Through my working life, I have learned that it suits me best to keep my working and private life separated. Therefore, I never work from home unless some urgent assignments require it. In the spring, I experienced that it was difficult to maintain a healthy work-life balance because I worked from home due to COVID-19. My job almost became everpresent, also mentally, because I did not physically leave the workplace as it was in our apartment. For me, it almost felt as the workday never ended. As a result, it took attention and time away from my private life which I found stressful.

I try to draw on my experiences from the spring lockdown in the organization of a sensible working day during this second lockdown. The organization of my working day and the children's homeschooling has so far worked satisfactorily. Still, it requires me to stay focused on the tasks/schedule I have set for the day. It is crucial to close my computer from work and put it away on the time I have set for the workday to end.

Fortunately, I continue to have the opportunity to be physically present at work because of the tasks I perform. This afternoon I was at the office to get an overview of and solve some urgent tasks. It brought me peace of mind to establish an overview of my most urgent assignments. It will help me prioritize the jobs I will do from home during the coming week.

I, therefore, chose to take another day off from my training program. As a side note, I hope it will contribute to relieving the soreness in my left hand. I have had some soreness in my left hand after Monday's training. The burpees and shoulder taps exposed my hands to a lot of impacts. The soreness is the same as the injury I got when I injured my hand when I had a bike accident a few years ago. Luckily it is not as bad, but some rest will do it well.
