          Anek NancyTree PETERMORRIS966 Thanks all!

The last day of my work week, now I am off until Friday night. It wasn't very busy at work today so I didn't get as many steps as I might usually. I ended up at 11,000 for the day. That leaves me around 348,000 for the month. As usual I will update World Walking when I get the final number. It was a decent step count for January. I had been planning on alternate forms of exercise (primarily swimming) but when they closed all the pools it left only running as an option for cardio. So despite some colder than usual temperatures (when the temperature is already supposed to be cold) I did get a decent amount of running done this month.

In the evening tonight I did Handstand Prep. This one was still on my to-do list, although I have done it in the past. At the end of the workout I walked up the wall three times for a wall assisted handstand hold, though I realized on the first one not to complete gas out the arms, because then getting down is potentially dangerous. This was also incidentally the last of the level 5 upper body workouts. I kind of feel like adding a handstand day as well to the rotation, though as with skipping day and balance day, I have yet to introduce these, and I am not sure if it makes a lot of sense to do so. I will give it some thought. I also did 100 pushups afterwards.

This workout had dips in it, and I think handstand holds fit my criteria for the wild card, so I have pushups, pullups, plyometric, partner, dumbbells, abs and kicking left in this rotation.

                Rainbow Dragon Thanks!

I had another interview to prepare for this morning and while doing so I walked back and forth studying prep notes. After the interview I called my dad because I hadn't talked to him in a while and paced back and forth as well. Maybe not surprisingly therefore I had a pretty good step count today, at over 15,000 though again, I didn't really leave the house much.

In the evening I did Push & Pull Express, Ultimate Fighter and Home Upperbody Tone. I am surprised that it took me this long to figure out, but if I want extra stuff in my rotation, then the most obvious candidate to drop is the pushups segment, as I do 100 of those every day anyway and quite often within workouts. I think that I might do that with the next rotation. I can't really add skipping in yet, as it is still pretty cold outside at most times and therefore too cold to do in the garage. I could add in handstand holds though, as they are short. I figured that I could also add in balance as a short (5 minute) segment on rest days. I might try to move forward with that starting with the next rotation. As for how the rotation is working so far, it is good, I like that I am touching all the bases that I want, but I find that I am getting a bit streamlined. This is the second straight rotation where I do Push & Pull Express and Home Upperbody Tone, and Ultimate Fighter is my favourite kicking workout in the database (because it adds up the pushups) so I think that I will probably end up with those most of the time anyway.

So if I take out pushups and having done pullups, kicks and dumbbells today, then I am left with plyometric, partner and abs in this rotation.

Another decent day for step count, though today I managed to get out of the house with the boys as it was above zero for the first time in over a month and we went to the park. The snow was still ankle deep for me (and thus worse for them) but they got to move around a bit even though I didn't. Step count was over 12,000.

With the daily exercise (60 second leg raise hold), the workout of the day, and the newest workout in the database all being abs related today it seemed liked a good day to do the abs segment of the rotation. So I did the exercise of the day (for the first time in a long time), Abs, Please (level I, EC) and Core Flow (level I, EC). I also added in 100 pushups.

That leaves me with partner and plyometric for this rotation.

I started off the day at the pool. They have only been open since the past few days since the last lockdown was lifted, and are only at 50% capacity. It was hard to book a time, but good when I got in, as because of reduced capacity, I got a lane to myself for the whole time that I was there. I did 800 meters (32 laps) in 27:50. Funny now that we are into February which should be a warmer month (it certainly wasn't last year), that now the pool is open and I also incidentally found the power cord for the treadmill two days ago. I could have used these cardio options in January and presumably less so now.

After I got back from the pool we did the also recently opened science museum with the boys and then went to skate on the canal. This is one of the Ottawa trademarks, as the canal is frozen for most of its length and then becomes the longest skating rink in the world. We didn't get quite so far today, partially because my wife's skates were as sharp as they should be, partially because the ice surface was pretty rough after the snow last night and partially because pulling the two boys in a sled on the surface was very difficult.

In the evening I did Cardio Drill (level I, EC) and 100 pushups. This satisfies the plyometric requirement for the rotation (for the side-to-side jumps). Our schedule is not working out to do partner this week, as we didn't do it today and won't be able to do it for at least the next 7 days, so it gets bumped from this rotation as well, so that is the end of this rotation. I will have to see how the next days work out, because I might be active enough anyway and I might therefore not take my rest day tomorrow.

This morning I did a run. Once again the surface conditions weren't the best because it had snowed a bit last night and there hadn't been plows by yet. It is interesting though at this time of year that I am not really looking for scenery that I just look to do routes that allow me to better get around the city and how streets connect to each other. In reality Ottawa is not a very confusing city as it is mostly a huge grid, but there is a river and a canal that run through the city which sometimes make for some irregularities. I did 6.5 km in 44:51, a time that would be really slow for summer time, but decent enough for now considering the conditions. Temperature was -12 with a wind chill near -20.

This was enough of a run that I can't say that today is a rest day, so I will do that tomorrow presumably.

I also did 100 pushups later in the day.

Yesterday was a rest day. I did Limitless and 100 pushups and had over 13,000 steps throughout the day.

I felt like another rest day today, but decided to start in on the rotation anyway. I kept it light though, and did Push and Pull Express plus another 80 pushups to make it 100. I did 7-4-3-2 on the pullups. Step count was good, at over 12,000, despite not leaving the house.

That leaves plyometric, partner, dumbbells, dips, abs, kicks and wild card for this rotation.

These days I take any chance I can for a run, even if it falls on a work day. So although it made my morning a bit more hectic, I still did a 6.2 km run through the neighbourhood. I decided on doing something local because driving somewhere to do a run would have been more time consuming. It meant that the conditions weren't that good, as by this point of winter the roads are either sheer ice or a slushy snow. I also made the mistake of running near a school at around the time that the school day started, thus that street and nearby streets were full of parents driving their children. It was around -7 with a -10 wind chill and I ran it in 39:06.

I am somewhat active at work (in spurts at least) so combined with the run I had a good step count today, over 15,000.

This evening I did Popeye (level I, EC), Home Upperbody Tone (level I), I Aim To Misbehave (level I, EC), Brave New Me (level I, EC) and Rotator Cuff. I also added 52 pushups to make 100. The latter workout was a rehab workout, but after so much shoulder work it was actually a decent cooldown. I should repeat it more often.

5 workouts, but only one dealt with a rotation requirement (dumbbells) so I still have plyometric, partner, dips, abs, kicks and wild card left to go.

Bravo for getting your run done in those conditions!

Rainbow Dragon Yes thanks, I saw that one at the beginning of my run. I am not sure of the frequency of woodpeckers, but this is now the third one that I have seen in about 18 months while running.

Mostly stuck close to home today, but still got a decent step count at over 11,000.

In the evening I did L-Sit Prep, Ciri (level I, EC), Gravity (level I, EC) and Foreams and Triceps Light. I had to add another 16 pushups to make it to 100.

I did plyometric and dips so I now have partner, abs, kicks and wild card left in this rotation.
