    Another Restart

    Been off e board for a while now simple because my workouts have been hit and miss. Decided to get back to regular exercise and chose the Total Body work out to do 3 days per week. I play golf on Monday and Wednesday so started on Tuesday.

    Went through the complete workout, 8 exercises x 10 reps x 4 sets plus 1 exercise x 40 reps x 2 sets. Worked up a pretty good sweat and felt good about getting through the complete workout. A little soreness by bedtime, but nothing really unexpected.

    Got up Wednesday and could barely move! Wow, last time I was that sore was first day of basketball conditioning as a freshman in high school. Thursday wasn’t much better, struggling to get up from a chair, stairs being a challenge going up and, especially, down. And forget squatting, a workout just not going to happen Jack.

    Friday the ache was still there, at a much lower level. And today I did the second round. And reduced the sets by half.

    Lesson learned. At 68 the old body just doesn’t shake off abuse like it did 20 even 10 years ago. I’ll keep it at the half level for a couple of weeks then go three quarters for a couple weeks more before going for the whole enchilada again.

    Ain’t it great getting on in years?

        But good going with your workout. I still remember you from two(?) years back when I was lurking the forum and didn't have an account. You were quite active in a thread with lots of wisdom from older folks, I liked that one a lot.

              Well, I’m back with another report.

              Repeated the Total Body this morning but cut back to 2 sets iso 4. Feeling it just a little in the legs but not like I did last Tuesday night. Will hit it again on Thursday at half strength and see how that goes the Saturday go to 3/4 if there not excess soreness. Will check back in Saturday with an update.

                Final round of Total Body half strength this morning. Tuesday I’ll keep it watered down to 3/4 strength for a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) then go to full strength. I feel the workout but not the debilitating pain of that first attempt.

                Lesson for everyone’s If you haven’t been exercising for some time, start off with a watered down version of your chosen workout/program and listen to what your body tells you. Don’t be afraid of being criticized for ‘wimping’ on the workout, it’s about what you can do at that particular time, not what what others think you should do.

                REMEMBER: That statement, ‘Suitable for beginners’ is a guide, not an imperative.

                  Over slept on Tuesday, so didn’t get a workout in. First round of Total Body 3/4 strength today. Definitely feel it more than the 1/2 strength, but not so much that I won’t be staying with it.
