    Everyday adventures and the like

Ok, this has been a long time coming. I have been into darebee a long time, and been doing other fintessy-stuff a looong time So, a bit about me: 23 yo male, recovering from exessive exercise and anorexai (yes, a promising start). I have a background set firmly in martial arts: Muay thai, kickboxing, krav maga and bjj. Like doing freeweight stuff and calisthenics (i can do these at home since, you know, covid and all). I study history at uni, and am going to graduate as a teacher. I also like nerdy stuff (surprise i know XD ) My aim for this post: to update on my daily "adventures" into world of exercise and movement, to create a sort of story and hopefully to inspire others. At the end of the day, i will update the post and write a "narrative" if possible. Just wanna say thank you all for this community, have a nice day and lets all live strong, humble and improve! I will update this evening on todays stuff. See you then!

Alrighty, hello world! First day of reporting in from the wartorn domain of the misty part of the galaxy ( hey i tought we were allowed to make up fantasy settings? XD) No but in all honesty here is a rundown of my daily workouts/activities, lore might follow
      - Morning: Before breakfast a nice powerwalk 45 min, 200 airsquats+push ups, 100 sit-ups, 60 lunges+pike push ups+ tricep dips, 24 pseudo-plance push ups+ shrimp squats, 50 ab bicycles.
-Before meal 1: 10 minutes of jump rope, 3x3 minutes of shadow boxing (thai techniques) with 15-30 push ups between rounds, the a total of 150 push-ups squats and sit ups with daily dare (climbers, did 6 sets of 30 sec) and total of 40 swings with 10kg kettlebell.
-midday walk of about 45 mins.
-Main workout of the day, weights in description: goblet squats with 22kgs, 30 reps 6 sets. Lunges, 2x10 kgs, 15 reps for both legs, 5 sets. Bulgar split squats, 10kgs, 14 resp for both legs, 5 sets. Time to crack open supersets!- goblet squats with 5 second hold after reps, 5 reps-5sec hold, weighted step up 12 reps, 10 kgs, set x3. Romanian single deadlift- single leg squat, 10 kgs, 12 reps per leg. calf rise-glute bridge, rises with 20kgs bridges with 10 kgs (per leg), 5 sets of 10 reps. After this, a blowout of 1 min intense shadow boxing- 10 swings of 10kgs- 30 sec of high knees- 30 sec of mountain climbers- 30sec of high knees. But wait, there is more! after these, 150 consecutive reps of air squats. Aand to finish up, a plank of 3 minutes for good measure. A leg day with fightyness. Yes please!
-After i got my butt down to write this ( XD)- a nice walk of around 40 mins, then 100 of push ups, squats and situps.
Yes, i would say i am relatively active, as i said sports have played a big role in my life (not always for health tough :/) Anyways, sunday funday! Felt very nice about daily workout.
Ok, so a bit about me then, i quess this is as good place as any to introduce myself. First of all, sorry for my english, its not my first language ( i am a finn). I study in uni, and history is my main subject. Now i am working in a small company for the summer. I always wanted to becom an officer in the army, but suffered a permanent knee injury in my year as a conscript. Being autistic and disabled did not help. I developed an eating disorder the same year, and have really struggeled to regain a healthy view of life and my body. Not suprising, food and sports have then a complex place in my life. However now i am very dedicated to gain weight back and start living better. I hope very deeply i can inspire others who struggle with anything relating sports, food or life in general, i want to help if i can I really like exersice, martial arts and other "functional training" and in general. Due my injuries, i am nowadays not able to run very well (in pavements at least), so my main cardio is jump rope (which you will hear a lot i promise). I also like to make up a lore about my workouts, this was inspired by the darebee site and you the hive so here goes (the story)
My character is a 20-something recruit serving in the military of the city-state of Yoren, a walled center of commerce situated in the post- apocalyptic ruins of old Scandinavia. I enlisted in hopes of a stable pay and a job- wasteland offers no stable way of life for people like me, a lowborn son of a family of no heritage. Today i woke up, and went on for a morning patrol around the southern gates. The budding growth of vegetationd around old ruins always sends shivers on my spine. It is so eery, to see nature reclaim its world after the devastation. (workout before meal) Ah, the morning practice. I am already used to this, we legionaries have to train ourselves for battle daily, it is our duty. Somehow the very idea grows onto you quickly. Today we have to carry a lot of supplies form a logistics ferry... wait, what is that noise? (angry growls) it is a hulking rad-wolf, at least twice the size of a normal one! I drop what i was carrying and try to sprint for my single-shot, but it is already running me down! I turn and try to evade and punch it, so my battle buddies can come to my aid. I struggle mightily, and the a shot rings out. The beast retires into shadows, and i live to see another day...
I intend to continue my (and perhaps sometimes my characters) story daily, so will be writing. Thanks to you for this community, i am really pumped up about starting this log thingy and also reading your reports! Have a nice day you all!

Well hello there! Whew, a busy day, but a nice one, hope yall had a good one too! Got stuff done at work, had a generally nice time but first, the workout reports:
Before breakfast- took again a nice powerwalk (around 45ish min), and then did my mornin´ calisthenic stuff ( Which was squats 150, resistance band push-ups 5x20, regular push ups 100, abs 100, lunges 100, band curls 3x15, single squats 50, close-grip push ups 50 and daily dare).
Then before meal 1 at a break, did 4 rounds of 3 min bagwork, gotta keep those thai tactics sharp! then some add-on calisthincs.
Well the main workout of the day is something im really happy about, i made a custom metabolic weight and bodyweight workout as such: Warm up with basic calisthenics (full body), 10 minutes. Then followed 4 rounds: 1st and 3rd round- exersice time 50 sec, rest 10 sec between. Plyo-hindu squat- double thrust burpee- ape hop- plank to push up- bunny hop burpee. 2nd and 4th rounds: 1 min of work, 15 sec of rest: Kettlebell (10kgs used whole time) 180 swing (meaning swings to front and sides), Rogue climber (10 sprint mountain climbers into 10 rogue rows), Rapid bench press with hollow hold, swing to curl, reverse lunge with body twist. After the 4 rounds, rest 15 sec and then 4 rounds of back-to back no rest (exept 15 sec after final exersice): 1min speed shadow boxing-25sec shoe shiner-25sec low jump lunge-25sec push ups-25sec mountain climber. After these, rest for about 1 min, and then: max one armed bench press, max goblet jump squat, max bicycle abs while holding kettlebee over chest. Between exersices, did 30sec of kb russian twists. My results were: right press 42 reps, left 39, Jump goblets 93 and hold bicycs 1min 4sec. Then, i took about 2 min rest, and did the "dungeon crawler" workout on level 1 to loosen my body. I was pleased for this workout, and wanted to share it if you are inspired to try I know i am not very strong or have best cardio, so i think you will absolutely smack my results, but most importantly have a fun but fittingly challenging workout. By the way, i was inspired by fitness creators such as Funk Roberts and Real anime training to create the workout XD. I named the workout "Enter the Ludus". If it interests you, the ludus was a gladiatorial school where te recruits were trained under the dottores, the gladiatorial drillmasters. Some of the dottores actually served as part time drill-sergeants in the legions and the auxilia, and were considered experts in fields of training both athlethic performance and combat skills. The ludus schools often incorporated varied workouts, to prepare the fighters to the arena. So in essence, they were something of a proto-fight camp.
After this, i did a combined 200 reps of squats, abs and pushups trought the rest of the day for funzies.
Walked (total time, did not really measure since i do not count my steps or the like) something like 2-2,5 hours outside.
All in all, a nice active day.
At work, i did actually manage to push my project quite nicely, and overall had a fine day. Now writing this text made me reflext and appreciate all the little things even more. This does not mean i am not very childishly anticipating my "gift" for myself to arrive: new mma shorts! Ravenwear elements- earth, these bad boys look so fantastic, cant wait I have seen that many have changed (in muay thai and kickboxing) to wearing actual mma shorts, so decided to do the thing myself too! (i know, such brave of me XD). Also it has been really hot outside, to make the day more summery Well that wraps all up for today i quess, so see ya soon! Have a nice one and live strong!

Hiya all! Hopefully you too had a good day! I did, for i got my covid vaccine, had good workday and also did some great workouts. All in all, im a happy dude today too! So, lets get to it-
Morning- 1h 15 min muay thai class and my morning calisthenics and the dd. This time most of our regulars made it, and we did again the class with our "combat buddies"- designated pairs due to the covid. Technique part was not on me today, one of our other veterans taught it, focusing on the quick teep. Sorry yall karate/taekwondo fellas, but the quick frontkick is a TOOl, as a weapon it is still inferior to all XD But seriously, this time i realized how much my ranged game has improved- even tough i am a muay mat with love for elbows and clinch at heart Was a fine session all in all. After, did highway to hell level 1 with ec for funzies xD
Afternoon- https://superherojacked.com/2021/03/...the-dark-side/ did this, had some gas in my tank still left so decided to crank up a kb complex of one armed row-straight rdl-military presses. Weights used were 26, 14 and 10 kgs. After these, still had some "force" left, so did 100 squats, push ups and 300 ab crunces in one go. I really like mr.Romaines stuff, but i kinda feel if you really want to get the most out of his single workouts, you kinda have to get some add ons to them. I mean, this is lord Vader who inspired this workout? The guy can literally tank explosions and survive multiple lethal wounds, its like he can go forever... XD
Then i also did my regular calisthenic stuff, the same as days before. Walked quite a lot also, prolly again like 1,5 hours.
Tomorrow gonna crush again some serious lifts (supersets here i come), decided to do the vader rope workout, since it hits quite nicely the whole body without being like super difficult (because got the vac and didnt want to absolutely blast my arm XD ). Still an effective cardio-strenght mix tough. I am really glad our science and healthcare has advanced so rapidly and how the covid is something we can all unite against in order to win. it show we are strong together. Wanna thank all of you and specially those who stand at the frontlines of the struggle, you all rock!
Hope you all a nice and sunny day, have a good one folks!

My salutations good people of the hive Did your day go smoothly? I sure hope so! Altough i slept rather poorly, still woke up with kinda normal vibes. Again, a productive day- my work project is drawing to a close, since our team had one of the very last briefings. Managed to crank up some nice workouts to get some move to the body Also, just found the toughts to be grateful and get a smile on my face- if my positive expression can make someones day even slightly better, i am happy. Anyways, lets cut the chatter:
Morning- a nice powerwalk and my regular stuff of calisthenics (takes around 25ish minutes, you know, push-ups, squats, banded moves, all sorts of mix bags ) and then assaulted the bag and did some technique work for something like another 25-30 minutes. Really focused on getting more oomph behind my low- and mid- roundhouse kicks (both diagonal and linear). Really having a nice progression, especially on my low kick power output. I am planning to utilize the chopping lowkick even more in my tactis, since i have really had a soft spot for it (anyone else identifying themselves as muya mat here? ) Anyways i have decided to cut back a little my cardio (jump ropes and morning hiits), since my weight gain progress has kinda stalled (still very underweight, dont wanna give up exersice)
Main strenght work today: lower body. Aww yes, i like working on them legs! did deadlifts, sumo stance (6 sets 15 reps), goblet squats (5 sets, 25 reps), lunges (4 sets, 12x2) and then supersets: set1- weight step ups to bulgar splits, 3 sets 10/12 reps. set2- Spartan squats to side lunges, 3 sets, 15/20 reps. set3- Glutebridges with hold to calf raises, 3 sets of 10 (glutes) and 1 megaset of 60 (calves), set 4- jumping goblets to one-leg rdl, 3 sets 10/12x2 reps. Did also ab work in between the "big" main lifts and finished with a straight 100 crunch set.
Again before setting shop in my home after the day 100 reps of abs, squats and push ups (like done everyday)
Felt really good about the squat work, not gonna crush any records but did all the sets with good form, used a db of 25kgs. Also had a blast with the spartan squats- my favorite additional work for legs. They are in essence a zercher squat (hug a plate, or a "shield") coupled with a snap front kick after the rep. They really blast your upper legs, since the acceleration fron squat to kick is so rapid. I suggest you try them too, very much fun
My arm was a little sore after the vaccine yesterday, but had no after effects whatsoever. Also bought some flowers for my parents (some beautiful orange ones, dunno what sort XD ). I am really blessed to have them as my parents, and strive to be a better child they deserve. I really look up to them as sorts of "rolemodels". Sometimes i know i can never really be as good a person as i wanna be, but i can stil ltry, right? Well, i guess that was that- hopefully you all stay safe and have some good happy times. I mean, its summer, sun´s out guns out... jk just wanted to wish you all a nice and warm day I really find this community such fine and insightful lot of fine folks, and am still so happy i got the courage to open my own post here. So yeah, have a good one fellas!

What is up good people of darebee? How was your day? Mine was good, got stuff done and had overall a blast of a day. Today had very little to do at work, and taught a morning lecture at my volunteer school. I guess i have had not a chance to talk about it, even if it is something i am very passionate about. I teach history and social studies at a volunteer-run school/class for refugees in order to integrate them to the society and worklife. I like it very much- usually do about two lectures per week, but this week i only had one. Todays lecture was about late bronze age collapse (equivalent to a high-school level), and had fun teaching the students. I am very proud to see how their language skill and subject knowledge improves volunteering is something i have liked to do, feels like i am being a part of our community and giving back since i have gotten much. But yes, how about the exersice-y stuff? here goes:
Morning- my regular powerwalk and calisthenics. Also did the combat works, this time 3 rounds of 3 min regular bagwork, 5 minutes power striking and a 5 minute round of speedwork. I have honestly never been a great fan of the speedbag (hey look at , say, rodtang or arjun bhullar- do they punch like ali? no, but they hit like an absolute landslide, so why not aspire to get that kind of oomphing power). This time however i felt i got my combos in rather nicely. Combined time spent on this morning routine (bodyweight and martial arts) was something round 50 minutes.
Main workout- Today i hit the upper body. Main lifts were flat alternating arm floorbench, alt.arm. military press and alt. arm bent-over row. again 10-20 abs after each lift set for active recovery. I did bench and mil.press in pyramids of 1-2-3-2-1 (sets of weights), and a straight 5x8 of rows. Bench: 1x20 of 17kg, 2x16 of 20 kg and 3x5 of 27kg. mil.press: 1x16 of 9kg, 2x12 of 12kg and 3x8 of 14 kg. Rows were all with 17kgs. After main lifts, did 3 set supersets of: bicep curls (9kg 10 reps) and standing tricep pullover( 12kg, 16 reps). Then rogue rows (9kg, 15 reps) and hex press (22kg, 12 reps). Last superset was cross-draw hammercurl (9 kgs 10 reps) and arnold press (10 kg 8 reps). Again, as my philosophy goes (lol big words from me XD) a good workout deserves a good finisher. So i did a runtrough, amrap of 1 minute exersices with 10kg kettlebell of: high knees-squat thrusters-wood choppers-negative tricep pullover-swing to curl-side rises-russian twists-ab crunces and finished with a 2 minute weighted plank of 10kgs.
Went to take nice walk and did my usual evening calisthenics (every evening, it is a ritual of sorts if you want to call it that XD) before writing this. Got around 1,5 hours of walking today, just like most days.
I really enjoy doing my strenght work in upper-lower splits. I know it does not equate to max mass gain, but i feel it serves my aims (general fitness) better, because i am nowhere strong enough to do microsplits like say scott hermann or hammer huge weights like some legendary strongmen (eddie hall or savickas anyone? ) i mean i think a good routine should consist of stuff you can do and want to do, all sports are equally good- if you like bodybuilding, go for it! Sprinting? Lets do some trackwork! Cheer-dancing? Heck yeah! One of the things i really would like to be talked more about is the wonderfull variety of life- be it sports, cultures, anything! If we have seen something the last two years, it is that no one modality of anything has a hegemony or an inherent superiority over others- if we learn to listen to others, to heed advice and to help and coexist in harmony we can achieve so unbeliveably much oh, i try to write something deep when in reality i have got no capacities to actually process such complexities XD well i quess we all can strive to improve Anyways, ill wrap this up. I hope you all a good day/night/whatever part of the daily rotation your place is experiencing XD See ya, stay strong and have fun!

Its JUHANNUStime darebee! Juhannus is midsummer holiday in Finland, if you wonder Today was indeed rather summery, warm sunny and humid. Now I am myself no party animal (absolutist, go to bed at 9pm, wake up before 4… you know the dry kinda guy XD) so did not partake to the wild part of juhannus, but still got to enjoy the sun and summerheat. What else can one wish for ? Now, to the log part of the text then:
Morning- no gi Brazilian jiu jitsu-class of 60 min. Well, this was my last bjj class (as of now, perhaps go back to it later?). My class subscription ends in 2 days, and I do not plan to renew it. Its not like I don’t like bjj anymore, I think it is a great martial art and a very practical one. It is just Im not having the inspiration to do grappling right now, and I feel bjj is one of those things where you really have to put effort into it, do it half hearted and you disrespect your training mates and the art. Perhaps gonna pick up groundwork again sometimes later, maybe combat sambo? Anyhow this lesson was very heavily based on chokeholds and escapes. These are something I find very fundamental to any martial artist to know- how to defend and escape. For martial arts (imho) are in essence firstly a defensive aid you wish to never have to use- therefore pure offence, while important and rightly practiced in many arts and fun to do, are always the last resort. If you throw a punch, it could disable someone permanently. Sweep a guy into pavement, he can easily wreck his bones falling down. Well anyhow, the 5 or so years spent practicing bjj have not gone to waste- had good time, met awesome folks and gained skills. I highly recommend no gi bjj to anyone interested.
Strength workout: Again, a day between splits. You know what it means- another CHAOS workout! so lets do this: (warm up before) 3 min jump rope (rapidly)- 3 rounds of: swing to curl (20 reps) jumping gobletsquat( 20 reps) hex press (15 reps) deadlift (15 reps) and then 1min of push ups. After 3 rounds of this, rest 10 sec and- 3min of shadow boxing, then 3 rounds of: hammer curl to overhead press (8 reps both arms) renegade rows (10 reps/arm, 10 push ups in between side change) squat to rear lunge (15 reps) Squat with 5 sec hold after 10 reps (3reps) and 1 min of push ups. Then 10 sec rest and 3 min of shadowboxing. Then one time run of 45 sec each 5 sec rest between: burpees-speed skaters-punching bicycle abs- sit outs- sprinting tuck jumps( took 10 sprintsteps/jump). Then rest 10 sec, and do 3 min of rapid jump rope. The final part is to failure: airsquat-push up-ab crunch. I used weights of 22kgs(heavier lifts) and 10 kgs dumb-and kb (complexes and light lifts). Managed to do this in 55 min 43 sec, and was able to do 224 squats, 133 push ups and 278 abs. I feel these are rather adequate scores, but there is much room for improvement as always . This workout was inspired again by many creators such as JaxBlade, Funk Roberts and other wod makers. I really enjoy crafting these, and I think you can tell these reflect my own workout style. I abhor the term “functional workout”- every routine has a function imo, and no one is better than other. If a bodybuilder trains for bicep hypertrophy, it has the same amount of function to him as a farmers carry has to a paramedic. Ok, as for what i shall name this one? I think I shall name it in honor of my favorite GoT character- Lady Brienne. She is someone I think a great rolemodel for men and women alike- strong yet humble protector who keeps her word. That is something I would like to aspire to be like, and since there is already a fullbody jump rope wod called vader, why not a “light side” variant should not be?
By the way, I thought I probably do a word file of these workouts and upload them in here, if anyone wants to try themselves (and whoop my a*s with their score XD). No problem, brag away, I can handle it
Well, again a long update, boring you is not my purpose but somehow these just grow long XD Perhaps it is the history and social studies teacher in me poking its head. Anyways, you all have a great midsummer and JUHANNUSTA PE*KELE! Go outside, enjoy life and be with those you value most! See you soon ya fine people!
oh yes had to edit in, did also my customary calisthenic work (eveyday yay!)

Ave amicus! The Gray Lynx warmly greets the mighty tribe of Darebee! How was your week? Mine was good. Today was no different- got stuff done and felt good doing said stuff. I´ll expand on this more, after my regular log update-
Morning: The usual stuff, took a walk, did high rep calisthenics (this time actually did count numbers XD 250 squats, 200 push ups, 100 lunges, 150 crunches, 100 bicycs, 50 split squats, 50 pikes, 100 leg rises, 50 dec.push-ups and daily dare). Then did my combat work- 3x3mins of general bagwork, 2x5mins of power kicks (this means you bang the bag with real intention, not some fancy trick kicks XD) and then 2x5 mins of clinch work. Nothing really special, perhaps used more elbows. I tend to integrate rather heavy elbow and knee striking to my usual muay mat/dutch style, which has reaped great benefits. Oftentimes people see my long and thin build and assume I fight at long range. I hate fighting long range, up close and personal is where its at XD Jokes aside, a normal but good morning routine.
Main workout: Leg day, yay day! Main lifts were: Farmer grip squats, (40kgs, 15 reps 8 sets- yeah went kinda wild on these) front lunges, (18kgs, 12 reps 5 sets) and Romanian deadlift (40kgs, 10reps 5 sets). 10-20 abs as an active rest between sets. Then triset of 3 rounds- Bulgar squat(12kgs,12reps per leg)-Step up (10kgs, 10reps per leg)- Cossack squat (10kgs, 20reps). Then superset of 3 rounds- plie squat (25kgs, 12 reps)- single rdl (12kgs,10reps per leg). Then 3 sets each- glute bridges (12kgs, 15 reps per leg) and calf rises (12 kgs, 15 reps per leg). After this, I still had some energy, which, after a leg workout, is as heretical as a chaos space marine, so decided to wreck myself on a burpee-goblet-death ladder of 10 to 1 (with 12 kgs kb). Did the run, still had gas, so, a good boy I am, did some extra abs work of (10kg plate used)- 100 crunches-50 russian twist-50 bicycs. and a hollow hold of 2 mins. Nothing special, good "leg-wrecking" workout.
Then before writing this did my customary calisthenics (100 of squat-abs-push ups) after a walk.
So, go in some nice lower body work, had time to organize my work projects final stages, got time to spend outside and listened to podcasts and some power metal. Do you have any favorite workout bands? I highly suggest trying out Sabaton, judicator and running wild to name few. I have already mentioned the art of manliness (good one ), but one other favorite which I did listen to today was the wampa´s lair star wars podcast. The guys are funny but crank up some fine content. Here is a tricky one for you- Who would win in a brawl- a combat-trained wookie (like Chewbacca) or an elite level uruk hai form lotr? Just for funs (My vote goes for uruks- yea wookies are tough, but are they “I lost my arm but still coming at you bro”-tough XD?)
I guess that’s all folks. Hope you all a fine day/evening/morning/ whatever phase of day your location is experiencing!
