                        I discovered Insight Timer for guided meditations recently and have been enjoying mixing them into my routine. I still need quiet time without people talking in my ears (why, why why do they say "now think about..." and then start talking again five seconds later?!) but I'm happily finding new brain food. ๐Ÿฅณ

                          The worst is when the person guiding the meditation says, "don't think about..." -- which of course is a prompt which directly causes you to think about exactly the thing they're telling you not to think about!

                          I think too many people trying to package guided meditations as a commodity fall into the trap of thinking they have to fill the space with something in order to add value. They often seem to forget that recognizable human speech is one of the most distracting intrusions one can inflict on a person attempting to meditate!

                            You are so right! That "don't think about..." phrase is a guaranteed way to send my brain racing away with whatever I'm not supposed to be thinking about. Shortcomings aside, I'm still glad to have more available than there use to be.

                            Started the day with high stress and low energy, so I took an unofficial day off and caught up on small things. And made cookies (tahini) and ice cream (chocolate coconut). And now I am low stress and good energy. ๐ŸŽ‰

                                JCU Tahini cookies are new to my repertoire, but they are so, so satisfying. I think my dog would love 29 degrees, too. Poor thing has a lot fur for the desert.
