Thirty days is a big deal. It is something worth celebrating. Thirty leads to 60, to 90, 6 months, etc.

                Day 39 (10/17/2020)

                2.5 mi hike

                Day 40 (10/18/2020)

                Shark Week Workout

Sooo yesterday was a very interesting day...My siblings and I went on our annual hike to see the pretty fall colors. It was very nice and I had a very good time! It's about an hour and a half drive back home for me from my sister's house, so I was driving back kinda late last night, around 9 - 10pm. I was about 30 minutes away from my apartment, when out of absolutely nowhere, a deer comes bounding out of the darkness and runs headfirst into the front side of my car! It all happened so fast, it took me a hot second to even understood what happened. Luckily, he managed to not break any windows (though he took out my entire driver's side mirror), and the car was still running fine, so I decided to just finish the drive and assess the damage once I was home instead of pulling over. I very much didn't want to be alone on the side of the road of a major freeway in the dead of night.

Honestly, the incident could've been way worse. He put a major dent right in front of the driver's side door, plus some dents on the passenger door and back wheel well on the same side, but managed to hit neither wheels. I came out of it with nothing more than a traumatic experience, no injuries. As someone who's heard stories of people dying in collisions with deer, I'm trying to remind myself of how lucky I am as I try to calm myself down and put in the insurance claim. And of course, just cause the whole situation couldn't be more annoying, I had literally just taken my car in for regular maintenance 4 days before!

Just have to keep reminding myself that my health is most important here...

The important thing is that you are well, the rest can be remedied

That sounds like a harsh experience indeed. But you're okay and at the car did its job in protecting you from impact.

Got my rental car today! It's a 2019 Ford Fusion. It's so fancy, it has push to start and one of those dials to change gears instead of the normal clutch. The rental car lady had to teach me how to even start the thing.

I fear that by now I would have problems driving a car with a manual gearbox

                                Day 44 (10/22/2020)

                                Binary Workout

Today sucked. Work was super stressful, and about halfway through the day I got a call from the insurance company saying that they found more damage to the car than they previously thought, so it's actually a total loss. I really liked my car, I don't want to have to go car shopping again! This whole process just got 10 times more exhausting.
