    Hey Bees!

My legs are totally mush today, so it's good to have done some upperbody work instead today.

    Bench Press: Paused: Six sets
    Spoto Press: 6 sets
    Incline Bench: 6 sets

Tough day, but I feel nice and sore. The heat is even worse than yesterday!

I also went to band practice today! I need to practice more, but it's still fun to fit into a groove and play along with other people.

We played songs from Hendrix, Clapton, and Gary Moore.

Going to tune out, have a nice one, Bees, and stay safe, healthy and happy!

I haven't listened to this song in more than ten years. Good to hear it again.

Thank you Azercord. Props to your oly lifting as well, it takes remarkable skill.

    Yo yo yo!

It seems like forever since I did leg day... I blame Resi Village; I'm replaying it for the third time. That speaks to how well-made and fun the game is. I also bought Doom Eternal, so my exercise routine is likely to go down the tube. But I can't let that happen

    Today...

Squats: 8 sets, up to 110 (light day. Wasn't feeling it)
    Paused squats: 6 sets
    Front Squats: 4 sets
    Leg Press: 4 sets

It looks like a quiet week, but I'm going to have more work coming in. The weather is getting warmer and muggier; I miss winter already.

Kinda had this one stuck in my head.

Don't beat yourself up too much. Just remember it may be a pile of poo but it is your pile of poo and poo grows amazing things. Being all motivational and stuff over here. Plus you have some beastly numbers going on the bar.

stephenphillips42 Thank you for your support. I do largely avoid FB and Instagram because they're just recipes for frustration. I like to post and hang out around Darebee because I feel parts of my best side come out: the part that wants to encourage others and watch them grow.

Speaking of growth, I'm sure hoping that's what my muscles did today (hur hur hur). Today was chest day. I wanted to hit another PR but within a few sets, I knew it was a no go. Oh well.

Bench Press: 120, 125, 127.5, 130, 132.5 (only managed four reps of this)
Incline Bench: 7 sets (didn't go too heavy)
Shoulder Press 5 sets (Went up to 65 kg, I think)

Had a cup of ice cream as a treat, but otherwise it's diet all the way.

Catch you on the flipside, Bees!

This song has been on my mind a lot...

Comparison is a tricky thing -- it's easy to say 'just compare yourself to who you were yesterday' but it can be easier said than done. This is in part why I don't go on Instagram and Facebook -- too much unhelpful comparison. I find Darebee to be motivating rather than comparin which is why I stick around. Glad you can focus on working out for now, and I hope you can stick with it -- best of luck!

Hi Bees. I forgot to post my last workout, but that's okay.

I went on a long walk (for me, anyway) today, of about 11,000 steps. Good to get about for a bit and just walk. I plugged in a podcast (The now-defunct PC Gamer webcast) and just lapped the local racecourse. The weather was a bit stuffy today, but I just focused on the walk, and did doggo spotting as well. Saw a Corgi, Great Pyreneese, and a bunch of mutts.

On a more serious note, I compare myself to others too much. I saw someone else on instagram setting new lifting PRs and celebrating a new relationship, and just wanted to bang my head against the wall. It's a process that's been ingrained over the years, and sometimes I need to chill, just focus on me, and do the things that satisfy me - like working out! That's why posting on this board is so helpful.

Hope that something chills you out today, Bees.

I listened to the ever-reliable Sturgill Simpson while doing my paces.

Ho ho ho! I is back with another weekly update.

So my experiment with the pre-workout was kind of interesting: I didn't take any today. I noticed a difference; I didn't feel as sleepy and tired as before (as I type this I'm yawning, however). I may have to cut my intake, perhaps completely. Eh, I'm sure I can lift okay without it.

I've mostly stuck to my diet very well; I eat the occasional snacks (like gummies and chocolate), but not in the quantities of my bingeing. Now I have to keep this up for weeks. Crap.

    Oh, and today's workout:

Deadlifts: 5 sets of 4, maxed at 120
    Underhand grip rows: 5x4
    One handed barbell rows: 5x6
    Machine lat pulldowns: 5x8

Today marks my return to deadlifting after my finger injury. How the hell I hurt my finger is beyond me. Overuse?. I deliberately did the deadlifts carefully and with light weight... felt good to do 'em again.

Better get some sleep so I can be ready for Band practice tomorrow. See you round, Bees!

I listened to this today at the gym:

stephenphillips42 Colin Shaolin Soccer is an absolute riot! A lot of Stephen Chow's humor is very bombastic and non-sequitor, and because of that, his movies are pretty entertaining. I hadn't seen the movie in years; I just remembered the sequence in the bar, and it's as ridiculous as I remember it being.

Another small PR in training legs today. Punishment time!

    Squats: 8 sets, worked up to 125 x 5
Pause squats: 6 sets of 2 reps (was using 100 kg... it was harder than I thought it would be)
Front squats: 4 sets of 5 reps

My biggest problem is that I get really tired after working out. That said, I subscribe to the thinking that I have to be a bit fatigued after my workout; after all, I'm in it to break down my muscles and regrow them. But this is crazy! I spend close to an hour napping afterwards. I think it's due to having a pre-workout powder crash, so I'll have to cut that from my workouts.

    Take care of yourselves, Bees!

I exercised while listening to this:

Just popping in to say, hi, GO!

I have Shaolin Soccer on DVD - my partner gave me a load of martial arts films when I first became interested in doing a martial art - and I have never got round to watching it; it looks fun!

Manuela Ouch! That does sound less enjoyable. It is an absolutely madcap film.

So I felt well enough post-recovery to train for real. Hit a small PR
    .

    Chest Day
Bench Press: 135x5 (Haven't done this in ages!), 140 x 2 for five sets
    Incline Press: 7 sets
    Shoulder Press: 5 sets

Looks like a quiet week ahead. I'm looking forward to the release of RE: Village (what a weird title) later on in the week; but there's still lots of time to workout before then!

    See you round, Bees!

My playlist definitely belonged to this old-school song today:

Shaolin soccer! I laugh a lot everytime, even though the Italian version is to me a little bit ruined because they wanted to make everyone speak with heavy regional accents...

    Hi everyone!

I'm still mildly sore, but mostly better. I celebrated my returning functionality by... yeah, you guessed it, going to the gym.

    Dual dumbbell rows: 4 sets
    Underhand rows: 4 sets
    Machine overhead rows: 4 sets
    One armed rows: 4 sets
    Dumbbell curls: 6 sets

Also had hotpot for dinner, but forgot to take pictures. Was really good!

I have two classes tomorrow, so I'm going to get some rest. Have a good one, fellow Bees!

I watched a bit of HK's answer to The Voice, and then entertained myself with a clip from Shaolin Soccer:

"Do you even know Chinese? I said" WHACK "Iron Head, huh?"

    stephenphillips42 Thank you kindly, sir.

Speaking of vaccines, I'm feeling the effects today. Just tired, lethargic, my body aches, and I'm craving sweets again. Go figure.

So today is an "anti-exercise" update. I'm just going to try and take it easy, play a little more Resident Evil 7, and worry about my lessons when I'm feeling better.

    See you round, Bees.

This song is where I'd like to be right now. On a beach, with a cherry coke zero, watching the fading sun set.
