I hope your dad will be okay Rainbow Dragon MS is horrible enough, no should suffer like this.
Vaccination wise, each country has its own issues. I hope yours will manage it better. It sounds like some people should resign and let more capable people take over. This is a really small place so I think it's easier for the medical staff to handle. It's also really easy for journalists to get in touch with people and make their stories heard. We still have a lot of other problems of course.

I think Chelsea is better this morning. Purring beside me. right now.

The current government of Ontario was elected by the people of Ontario in a free and fair election in June 2018. Our current premier was clearly not competent to do the job, but he promised the people "a buck a beer." So they handed him a majority government. Which now means he can do pretty much whatever he wants until June 2022. (Not that his safe-until-2022 status matters at this point. Recent polling data suggests his party is even more popular now than it was when it was elected in 2018, and if we were to hold a new election today, the Conservatives would almost certainly be re-elected with another majority.)

The lack of vaccines in Canada right now, however, doesn't have anything to do with incompetence on the part of our governments, nor does it have anything to do with the large, spread out nature of our country being difficult for vaccine distribution to manage. When vaccines show up in Canada, they have been getting into people's arms very quickly (including in my own region, where the one shipment of vaccine we have received thus far was mostly all administered the same day). The trouble is vaccine nationalism. Canada does not yet have any domestic vaccine manufacturing. We rely on other countries to sell us their vaccines. Our federal government secured deals with multiple vaccine manufacturers to sell us far more Covid-19 vaccines than we actually need. But those companies are now reneging on their promised delivery schedules. Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines have been approved for use in Canada. Canada has deals in place to procure millions of doses of vaccines from each company. And both companies have manufacturing plants in the United States (our only neighbouring country and by far largest trading partner). The Pfizer-BioNTech manufacturing plant is in Michigan--less than 300 km from my home. But has Canada received a single dose of vaccine from the US? Nope. All the vaccines we have received thus far have been flown in from Europe. Because Biden is insisting that every US citizen must be vaccinated before the US plants are allowed to export a single dose. (Not that Europe doesn't have a far larger population of its own which also needs vaccinating. Not to mention Africa and Asia. Our species will not be able to move beyond Covid until all humans have been vaccinated.)

I truly hope that if our neighbour ever again needs anything from us that Canadians will be able to be better humans and be less selfish.
In the meantime, all I can do is continue to do everything I can to try to keep my parents as safe as possible. (And try to be a better human myself and not harbour uncharitable feelings towards countries/governments/individuals which/who are not behaving as well as I might like them to. Everyone is struggling these days.)

I'm glad Chelsea is doing better.

Rainbow Dragon you should have volunteered to be human Guinee pigs like us, then you would have had all the vaccines you could want. I'm kidding, sort of. The rumor here is that Pfizer agreed to deliver as many ampules needed because they used us as the last testing faze for their vaccines. Not true of course but that's one of the theories - small place, diverse populations (culturally and genetically), mostly western... it fits but it's far from accurate.
There was a local vaccine happening but from a government research facility and they fell behind the big pharma companies so Pfizer it is. Long story short, if I got it right (I'm still at work - from home but...) is that Canada doesn't have enough vaccines?

My head is pretty much blowing right onw because I have to finish something before the end of the month - which was given to me kind of last second because I wasn't supposed to do it but they are giving me whatever they can find so that I could have a full paycheck for this month... So, I'm really all over the place and not all that focused on anything that isn't coordinates and/or excel related...

Chelsea is back to normal, I am home with her today and it is the last working day of this week. It was sunny since late morning and we played for a while after lunch. She's sleeping now, doing okay

Correct. (We did have delays in distribution of our first shipments of vaccine. But our current problem is simply that the vaccine manufacturers are delaying shipping their products to Canada.)

Very sore today and not muscle soreness. I'll take tonight off to rest a bit more. I also had a weird night. I woke up coughing like hack but I'm pretty sure it happened because some of Chelsea's fur got into my throat. My knee is okay though so yay for that.

Latest events in life made me think about how close I am to people. Who can I talk to about what and my conclusion was - I don't really have anyone I trust enough to talk about stuff but on the other hand, The Hive can be a place full of caring people who can also be very useful. Then I thought... yeah but "it's not normal not to be in good enough relations with people I can see everyday". After thinking about it longer though, I think it's fine. This day and age you don't have to see someone physically in order to converse and everyone has their own experiences regarding society and people so, there's nothing wrong with me there. I guess I do need to work on people skills even if so that I could get in touch with people better and not be wary of them in any way.

It also reminded me of this song by The Witches. It doesn't really apply to me anymore but it popped to the front of my head after years of being stuck deep inside.

First of all Second, I have no friends except my husband. That probably isn't normal but it's the way it goes. Honestly, the nicest, most supportive people I "talk" to are on Darebee.

Same boat here. Moving so often means I have some friends everywhere, but none really close. My closest friend is a work colleague because we shared an office for 3 years. That's not the same as childhood friends who know you better than you do. Sometimes I miss having those, but then, isso.

Gandhalfit , I like the song. I don't like to meet real people and I have only one friend in real life. But now, because of the virus, I don't see him anymore. So, I'm happy about The Hive...

I absolutely love this song. Both lyrics and music. I like the Pink Floyd-ish vibe at the end.
I thought that I'm the only one lacking friends, I'm kinda surprised...
But I'm thankful for the hive (and all the supportive people ), it still keeps me going.
