    Thx!

Yesterday i went for a jog with my new asphalt running shoes. 5.24km in a very slow pace. I am pretty out of shape, i have to admit
On sunday there is this running event. I am a bit unsure if a should participate or not. But 1 or 2 laps should be doable (5.3km or 10.6km).
On the other hand i have also lots of stuff to do atm. But it would also be a welcome me-time and distraction.

Healing vibes for your dad and I hope his surgery went well!

So the surgery of my dad went well. I don't wont to go into details here but his living conditions need to change a lot to account for his current situation.
Today i took part in the running event. And i am really glad that i did. I've been running there before the start of the pandemic and it was a very nice experience.
This time again it was very well organized. It's basically a half-marathon consisting of 4 laps of 5.3km with a 13% incline at the end of each round.
What i really loved was the 2 percussion bands at different locations along the track. When you hear the sound of 20-30 drummers cheering you up it just gives you an endorphine rush and a keen smile
Really awesome. Since i haven't been running a lot lately i stopped after the second lap. According to my garmin 10.86km in 1:14h. So definitely a lot faster than my slow jog rounds.
Being on such an event just gives a push and running with lots of other people is just fun and encouraging.
And probably due to the option to exit after each lap this run is also attractive for more regular folks (like me). So not all participants where trimmed down running machines.
Sure, i was probably one of the heavier/heaviest individuals on the course, but the will and participation counts, right?
Next year i plan on going for the full distance again.
And i really have to salute a woman who participated in a wheel chair and wheeled herself up this 13% incline!
If you're interested about the event, here is the course and a video:

Regarding my dad, well, the day after my last post the doc told me that he needs to have another surgery this friday. I guess he'll also handle it quite well. I keep my fingers crossed.

Regarding sports: yesterday i joined a 1h class of Strong by Z. again after more than a year. And boy was i sweating, breathing and pumping. But afterwards i was glad to have done it.
Almost all muscles got worked nicely, also some conditioning and a bit of flexibility work.
Today i did a bit back&bicep bodyweight work since this was missing from yesterday.
                  Did horizontal pulls using the high parallettes: 10, 8, 7, 6, 6
                  Pelican curls: 9, 8, 8, 7

                            Hi all,

a bit time since my last posting. Second surgery went well. He feels well and is in good mood. Soon he will start a rehabilitation program.

Regarding my own physical condition ... well, i am getting more and more out of shape. Homeoffice and not having the drive to do fancy workouts is taking it's toll.
But: in the neighboring town they set up a pretty nice small calisthenics park. Yesterday and today me and my daughter made good use of it.
Yesterday i did 5x2 pullups (yeah, almost nothing but that's the current situation of having not trained for some time and being ~10kg heavier) and 3x10 roman chair knee raises.
                            Today again 3x10 romain chair knee raises, deep pushups: 15, 11, 8 and pullups: 3, 2, 2, 2, 2

Quite some work to do. I have come down into quite some rut recently. Almost exclusively homeoffice, very few sports, comfort food and too much drinking.
Not a good position. I need to get back into some regular workout schedule.
Autumn is here (or approaching, depends on how you see it). I guess in one month latest i will take advantage of my cycling smart trainer and do workouts on swift etc.
Depending on how things are going etc. there are opportunities to do some end-of-season flights with the hangglider. Let's see.

I wish you all a nice weekend, read you soon!
