        That's so awesome!!!
I did paragliding once in Greece and it was really fun, I need to look into this hanggliding!

          Glad you liked it
It's really a wonderful sport, especially the view as a pilot is awesome as you won't see your wing most of the time and have a great overview of the landscape.
I also did a video with the camera on the helmet, sadly the camera tilted when doing the hang check so it does not match my view direction. But i guess i could also make a short video using this footage.

Anek Trying out hanggliding is sadly not as easy as paragliding (just because there are way fewer schools). But i know some (most) of the options:

          At lake garda in italy

          At Wallberg/Tegernsee

          At Altes Lager near Berlin

          At Greiling/Bad Tölz

At Egweil near Neuburg a.d. Donau

There are basically two different styles of the tandem flights. Either you start from a mountain with foot launch or you start using aerotow (flying behind a plane, i also have videos of how this looks if you're interested).
Foot launch probably gives you a more impressive (mountain) scenery and you hang besides the pilot.
In aerotow you lie on top of the pilot and don't need to run at all.
Tegernsee and Lake Garda are hill/foot launch, all the others are aerotow.

Maybe interesting info: my avatar picture is from flying at Altes Lager (it's basically a former russian military airport)

Thanks!! Tegernsee is quite close so I'll definitely look into it!!

                Whirly Thx

Just in case someone is interested in some videos of tandem hanggliding :

and the extreme case of two experienced pilots in the same glider :

                Have fun!

Gandhalfit Yeah, some things with flying come a bit contra-intuitive . Altitude is safety. As long as you're high above the ground you have plenty of time to recover bad maneuvers or throw your emergency chute.
Anything close to the ground is way more dangerous (think takeoff, landing).
Also, in a hangglider, speed is key. If you fly way too slow you can't control the direction anymore. That's also the main reason why you'll probably won't find any real slow hangglider landings
And maybe you're thinking about the fear of falling down (not sure). That's basically a non-issue because you always feel being held by some force in the air.
It's something not really describable. I feel very insecure when standing on a church tower etc. (afraid of falling down). But when hanggliding i don't feel this fear (because i'm not standing on my feet and i am flying). And another thing with hanggliding is that you (most of the time) won't see your flying machine. So you really quickly get the feedback of being flying.

Of course it takes some time to get accustomed to the altitude / the view from above. But after that you will feel pretty save and secure in the sky.

Free flying is pretty much a mind game. The physical part is not that hard. But rewiring your brain to accept contraintuitive things is.

I love your description of how it feels compared to your feet standing someplace high. I can imagine it really well from your words

                          Oh how great…
My biggest fear would be about even finding (and hitting) the landing spot and the landing itself, i guess. But i can perfectly imagine to enjoy the flight.

Thanks I love reading about it. 10 years ago I would probably have tried it but now I just like watching videos. There are other contraptions people use to fly but there's no way I'll try them either.
