          Our whole house got sick with the stomach flu last week or so. Mom hasn’t felt completely back to normal since. She has moments where she feels great and then other times she doesn’t. She felt a little better Sunday, which was why we went grocery shopping. There are so many should’ves and could’ves that I’m trying not to think about because there’s no point in it. We were about to check out our groceries, I was unloading the basket, and I saw the basket move. I thought my mom had turned to talk to my sister, who was behind her in line, and my sis thought the same thing. Mom fell. I was already shaking and a bundle of nerves. The sweet people in the line next to us jumped in to help. One of the customers called 911 as well as a worker. Mom was awake and talking immediately after the fall and she knew who she was and what her age was and things like that. She said her ankle hurt and had me look. I didn’t see any swelling or anything. Someone asked her to see if she could move it, and her ankle bone stuck out further than normal. This started my anxiety attack. Another customer came up and said she was a mental healthcare professional and she recognized that I was having an anxiety attack. She was trying to help me out of it, but with phones ringing and everybody moving around, it was difficult. And for me, talking during one makes it more difficult to come out of. A firefighter even asked if I needed to go to the hospital, too. I even got hugs from two different people. Mom ended up breaking her ankle in two places AND dislocating it, but otherwise was fine. She was in the hospital almost a full day before she got to come home.

          We also started having trouble with our washer and people are supposed to be coming out Wednesday. So after mom got home my aunt and I went to the laundromat. I’ve had enough social interaction for a while. Hopefully we get our washer fixed and we can actually settle in a routine. I’m not actually worried about exercising or keeping up streaks, but I do want to keep active in some capacity. I should be able to get in at least the 22 minutes of activity a day. Of course health is what’s most important.

          I took a book with me to the laundromat, but didn’t even get a chapter in there. So I stayed up a little to read it. I didn’t really feel like trying to dive back into The Last Days of John Lennon just yet. Maybe I’ll be extra and read it next month for his birthday (I did that two years ago with the two books he wrote).

                      Goodness! That's a heck of a lot to go through! Thoughts and prayers to your mom!

                      The amount of people who came forward to help is such an inspiring moment. Greatest sympathies for your anxiety attack.

                      I ended up needing the laundromat for a month or so (?) and it drained me more than everything else I had to do in a week. And everyone there either ignored me or was super kind!


                      Hugs and cake to make you feel a bit better?

                      (I wish you could actually eat the cake. My sister bought one for dessert last night. I have more than half left. )



                          JCU Thank you! The customers and the employees were really great. I just wish one of us (me, my sister, and my aunt) would have been in a good mindset to thank them properly, but considering the circumstances...

                          We were mostly ignored at the laundromat, except an older woman there talked to us for a while. It’s just those two events happening at the same time makes things a little difficult.

                          Thanks for the cake! I’m sure we could make one, or there is also a s’mores bar in the fridge waiting for us...
