        Mom rode her bike. Mine’s not up to par (I’ll probably end up just getting a new one) so I decided to just walk with her. We intended to go around the block, but when we started to go uphill, the bike locked up. We turned the bike around and it was worked fine after that. When we tried to explain to my dad what happened, he got frustrated because when he tested it around the yard it was fine. We tried to tell him that it was fine except when we tried to go uphill.

          Walked with mom while she rode her bike. We went around the block this time, and her bike didn’t lock up like it did before. I’m doing pretty good about keeping up with her. I told her not to slow down for me, because I don’t want her to not get the exercise she would normally. If I do get to far behind, I’ll jog to catch up. I only had to do that twice.

          I also got a new bike yesterday! The only thing is it’s been so long since I’ve been on a bike, my balance isn’t where I need it to be. So I’ve got to practice before I feel comfortable enough to go riding around the neighborhood.

          I got a compliment on my Nirvana shirt while out shopping. I guess that reminded my brother of a conversation he had at his job because he told me this: there was a young teenager (around 14 or 15) with a Led Zeppelin shirt on. My brother asked her what she knew about Led Zeppelin, and her dad said he asked her the same thing when she got the shirt. The girl said that her dad listened to them sometimes, and her dad asked if she knew any of their songs. She said no, and then joked about my brother calling her out. Note that, while I think this was kind of funny, I don’t really like this kind of questioning.

            Why do people feel the need to call you out on things? Anything? So what if she doesn't know Nirvana? If the shirt's cool, wear it! You don't see males asking other males if they know the band they're wearing! So, really, I answered my own question...

              JCU I don’t like it either. I just thought it was kind of funny (not in a mean way), and it didn’t seem like she was hurt by it (though, you never know. It seems like maybe it was a good-natured joking point between her and her dad for a while. Hopefully she was fine). It would be a great bonding opportunity between dad and daughter, though. But yeah. I have my own set of “values” I guess when it comes to band t-shirts or things like that, but I’d never impose them on someone else. I guess maybe it’s because I do like a lot of older music and shows that I don’t automatically assume someone younger wouldn’t, and it’s not like I’m passing judgment either way. If someone wearing a shirt with a band I like on it, all I’m thinking is that I like the shirt . Well, actually, there was one time I saw someone wearing a Marc Jabcobs “Nirvana” shirt, and I didn’t really like that. Not because I think that the person couldn’t have worn whatever they wanted, it’s just the thought of someone using a band’s logo like that. But I would never say anything to someone wearing it. Also, there’s a “Smells Like the Only Song You Know” Nirvana-themed shirt that’s just unnecessarily petty. You don’t have to be snarky about someone possibly knowing only the one song to prove you’re a true fan. Anyway, that’s my little rant.

              And thank you! I’ll probably have to get training wheels or something, actually, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do .

                No walk/bike ride today. It was drizzling and we were afraid it might start pouring while we were out there. It never got too bad, so I was able to practice a little in my backyard. No training wheels needed! I really struggled at first, but somehow I managed to get it coasting with out losing my balance. My issues are turns. The area where I can practice in the backyard is small, so I don’t have long to ride before I need to turn. But I feel like I can keep my bike up enough that I’ll take it around the neighborhood. Turning should be a little easier there, but I’m nervous!

                  Just remember, Once you start moving with some speed forward the bike is naturally going to want to stand up and will balance itself. Unless you fight it physics will keep the bike (and you) upright. Nothing to worry about or be nervous about (though this is unlikely to keep you from feeling nervous ). Let the bike do its job and you'll be fine. Also look where you are intending to go as you turn and your body will kind of naturally make things happen. You'll do great and it will be fun.
