This month's challenge (The Impossible Abs) doesn't appeal to me. I don't like leg raises. When I do a lot of them, I always manage to hurt my back. I must be doing somethimg very wrong, because I'm one of those lucky people who never have trouble with their back. In stead I'm going for Arms of Steel this month. I like shoulder taps (I can do those sets without rest in between and I'm curious if I can really build up to 10 minutes of punching. My upper body has always been my weaker half, so I like to do upper body stuff for extra's.

My run today was splendid. On the 1st of July a number of trails reopen that are closed during bird breeding season (is this the correct term?). One of my favourite trails go through a valley behind the first row dunes, a bit marshy and desolate with a few windswept trees and very funny looking little round lakes. When I came off that trail my path was blocked by at least 20 wild horses. They are fat this time of the year!

TrompyNL The landscape definitely helps. And audio books also help to make running more fun. And it’s my ‘alone time’, which I also really like. So for me there’s a lot of positives about running. But don’t do it if you don’t like it. It’s terribly slow, tedious and monotonous when you do not like it. Like how I feel about swimming. Nope, no swimming for me.

Another day in the office at home. Visit to the dentist’s with my son. Missed a meeting in Amsterdam because of that, back into sports clothes at 14:00. Funny how uncomfortable ‘normal’ clothes are. I never was someone for spending whole days in yoga pants or jogging gear. This one hour in jeans today was already taxing.

AnnieW ... I don't think Darebee will have that effect on me... I even don't have jogging gear hahaha.. But if you told me 3 months ago I would exercise every day and enjoy compiling my own workouts and even sharing it on a platform ... I would also consider you crazy...

5 km reference run in 32:18 (was 32:42). That’s 1 km in 6:28 (was 6:32) and 9,3 km/h (was 9,2 km/h). Lots of wind, so I can certainly do better! No pictures today, too busy running.

AnnieW Awesome scenery. I'd do a quick switch to run among them horses on the lusty green field.

                        Dadalo Toka Thanks!

We had a few days of rain, so everything has turned green now. In summer and winter the grey and yellows are most dominant, but as soon as it rains it’s green again. The dunes here have a very specific micro climate, with very interesting water conservation and filtration abilities. Knowledge about the filtration abilities dates hundreds of years back, at least well into the Middle Ages. For at least 160 years now drinking water in the west of the Netherlands is filtrated in the dunes. I’ll go for a run near a water purification area in the nature reserve, a bit south from here and deliver some pictures. It’s quite unique!

This weekend went too fast. I promised my son a hike in the evening, so no running today. I’m haven’t been running very much this week and I’m a bit grumpy about that. Maybe the hike does the trick too. If we snap some nice pictures, I’ll post.

                            Later:

11 km hike through fields and dunes. Lots of rabbits, this is a good year, a healthy sign for the ecosystem.

I managed to injure my foot in some way. Don’t exactly know how but my outer ankle ligaments on the left side hurt. Bit swollen too. I know I made a weird jump last week and I might have been compensating. Well, I need a few days rest from running and jumping. Buh. I’m rather sad and a bit angry with myself.
