    Programming my body

    Hello everyone!

I'm back to Darebee. Some of you might remember me ( I was quite active here somewhere around 2016 ).
A lot of things happened in my life since then, some of which made it difficult for me to work out (University, living in a 5 person dorm room and so on, but mainly the fact that I'm usually a very lazy person). But now, with the quarantine in place and me losing my daily activity, I was turning into a complete vegetable from staying all day in bed and on the chair (I'm a programmer so at least 8 hours of my day are spent at the desk) so I decided to try again to be more active.

Thanks! I have to say, I appreciate your work even more now, I had the chance to be a teaching assistant at my university for a semester and teaching really makes one give his best. So hat off to what you're doing 😁

Have to admit, it looks extremely simple when you look at it, but the impression is gone when your arms start to burn during the hold.

Power Up is always like that. You've been warned.

Curiously enough, after staying all day on my chair, my leg muscles are sore from yesterday haha.

To end my day on a positive note:
One more thing that changed compared to my previous active period on the Hive is the fact that then I was in highschool, now I graduated University and have a job. That means that today I was finally able to start giving back to the community and donate to Darebee.

Helping keep Darebee the way it is really makes me glad, because you guys are just amazing. The quality of the workouts, the detail put in everything, the passion of everyone here and the amazing community that has been built through this website are something I appreciate enormously.

You will get sore legs from sitting all day. Your leg muscles will shorten. It is well worth getting up for 5 mins every hour and moving either doing some steps on the spot or some simple stretches.

                    Thanks Scott !

It was better when working from the office - I usually got up to go to the kitchen for a cup of tea or talk with my team or check on a friend from the company. I also had to walk from work to my university at least once a day, so that also helped.

But with the lockdown I started working from home and I keep noticing that I'm sitting for hours because I have everything I need near my desk. I'll listen to your advice and try to take care of that. 😁

Looked through the Power Up program and while no doubt it will be challenging, the workout seem to have a short duration. As I will be stuck in the house for one more Mon mininum it means I have a lot of free time in the mornings if I wake up as usual ( staying home instead of going to uni or office). That's why I'm also starting the Back and Core program. They seem to be focused on different things and think they will go quite nicely together. Also Back and Core seems a perfect one for my back.

I didn't want to wait until morning to do it so for today I did it in the evening, from tomorrow I'll do both in the morning. I'm also planning to start Water First Thing challenge

That sounds like a great plan.

                          10.04 :
                          Power Up day 4
                          Back and Core day 2
                          Water first thing day 1

Back and Core was the easiest out of the two ones today, I managed to keep the planks even longer. At Power Up that raised side leg hold was making me feel muscles tiring in places I didn't even know I had muscles haha.

Really happy with how things are going at the moment. Starting to get back in the habit of exercising, I was announced yesterday that I'm getting a promotion and a pay rise at the workplace in the summer, lots of things to be grateful for.

Hope the situation with the virus will get better here, I'm still worried a bit about my mom as she's alone home and we can't visit.

Tempered Steel at Level 1 - just to move a bit after a day of work and eating pizza.

First time I encountered W-extensions, tricky little exercise. 😁

                              11.04:
                              Power Up day 5
                              Back and Core day 3
                              Water first thing day 2

Well, today has been the hardest so far.

Back and Core was mostly ok, until it got to the Reclining Hero pose. I know the program is supposed to target back and core but Reclining Hero broke havoc through my thighs - felt like my muscles were having thoughts of snapping. Don't know it's because I'm not flexible enough, or maybe as Scott said my muscles shortened during 4 years of no exercise and sitting.

Power up was pretty challenging, my arms were really sore at the last shoulder taps.

But I'm happy about managing to do them (maybe not perfectly, but it's still progress).

Another thing that motivates me to exercise is that I consider that my heart rate is pretty high, especially during exercising. For example, even if today no cardio was involved I still reached a max of 141. ( i'll post a pic of the data from my smartwatch). I also notice high heart rates even when I'm walking fast. I think that is because I'm not fit and I'm also overweight (171 cm, 75.8 kgs).

In another order of ideas, yesterday I finished the last book in the Witcher series, bringing me to 7 books completed in 19 days, yey.
