Belated Congratulations on 30 Days of HIIT

Thank you, Chris Lee Bear, Silent Wolf, Belerith and Amirsh

Today will be a bit of a rest day where I'm pausing with the cardio stuff and focus on my upper body (to give those calves and shins some rest). Tomorrow will be full power again

Congrats on the new badges! And I am ready to start Hero's Journey tomorrow (Monday) too! Have you looked at the weapons yet? I'm thinking of doing to ribbon because I like punching and kicking.

Thank you, HellYeah, WSMC27, Nebulus, Whirly15 and guibo94!

Today was an extremely lazy day and despite my earlier words I have only done Day 14 of the Power Walk challenge. Somehow, I couldn't find the energy for more
Interesting observation I made today: Wearing glasses turns me into a total slob. I usually wear contact lenses all day long and have only got glasses last year. I try to take out the contacts after eight hours to switch to glasses and make an effort to put in glasses only days, but every time I do so, I become totally unmotivated, lie around all day and generally do nothing. Today was the same. Around 8 PM I caved in, put in my contacts and tadaaaa, I immediately found my energy again
                    Bizarre.
Maybe it's because my glasses are so heavy (probably not). But I like to call them 'Nasenpanzer' ('nose tank'). Usually, in German glasses are sometimes called 'Nasenfahrrad' ('nose bicycle') and because mine are made of thick and very real glass (not plastic) they're quite heavy, thus, Nasenpanzer.

Also, while I had the highest workout workload per day this month and thought I had my nutrition in order I... gained around 1.5kg of weight (allowing for fluctuations) and around 2% of body fat
Seems like my nutrition wasn't on point, after all... Proof that eyeballing doesn't work in my case (must be because I'm nearsighted...)
So, even though it pains me and breaks my heart, I guess it's going to be calorie counting after all, at least for the next month. I only need to keep my husband motivated to count the calories for the main meals he usually prepares.

From tomorrow on I'm going to start Hero's Journey (I'll choose the hammer, guibo94!) and continue with my challenges and 60 Days of Cardio.

I hope you all had a very great and relaxing weekend, I wish you all a good start into the next week!

Are you sure that what you gained is fat and not muscle? Maybe, taking pictures of yourself, you could notice different types of progress, you may be more toned even if the overall weight stays the same.

I hope you will have fun with Hero's Journey, seems very fun! Have a great week ❤️✨

                        Thanks, lapedrina!
I'm reasonably sure that it's fat (at least according to the cold, hard numbers). According to my own bad eye and the even worse eye of my husband for such details, there didn't happen much in terms of definition (except for my core and traps, which somehow hog all the muscle definition to themselves). Now with the start of the new month I've taken my measurements and will check again in eight weeks. Maybe that's more telling.

Speaking of measurements, I'm a bit at a loss what to do with my calves, looks-wise. I don't have much fat on them and when I flex them, do calf raises or such, the muscles are really visible. But they're MASSIVE and clocking in at about 38cm circumference, often giving me trouble buying boots. I guess I've inherited them from my grandmother, who was the same (I obviously also inherited her facial structure...). I don't really like how they look, but I guess aside from trying to get lost of my muscles in them there's not much I can do
Since yesterday I've contemplated on building muscle in my calves and my thighs (which were probably made for a speed skater and not for me), as best I can, just give up and embrace my sturdy legs. Maybe coupled with my slim waist (best feature, if i do say so myself) I can build something like a pleasing physique (pleasing to me, of course).
                        Still thinking about that.

Anyway, I put in my contacts today right after getting up, so I was super energetic and got all of my workouts done. So, here's my status update (drum roll please):

                        Today I did:
                        - Good Morning, World! Day 15
                        - Hero's Journey Day 1 on Level 2
                        - 1 Minute Cardio Day 15
                        - Wall Push Ups Day 15
                        - Punches & Squats Day 1 (don't know if I continue that, but today I thought 'why not')
                        - DD w/ EC (40 Climbers) (I was already doing a lot of climbers anyway, so, eh)
                        - Power Walk Day 15
                        - 60 Days of Cardio Day 50 on Level 3
                        - Power Grip day 14
                        Calories consumed: 1.415 kcal

Like I said, I'm going to try my luck with counting calories. To be honest, it's disheartening to see how much my two meals already take away from the total. The rest is mostly milk. Guess it comes down to sheer willpower, distractions, and maybe a day per week when I'm going to eat close to maintenance.

And I've finally learnt my first song on the bass: Muse - Nishe. Okay, it's stupidly easy with only eight notes you play throughout the song, but hey, starting small. Next one I want to try is Love is Noise from The Verve.

Hope you all had a good start into the weekend and a nice holiday (for those who had a holiday)

I gave up on counting calories, mainly because I'm too lazy. Good luck with the count.
I wish I had bigger calves.

Good luck(no temptations) with your goal and congratulation on your first song

I also took my measurements at the beginning of the month - cold hard facts sure can hurt. I didn't know 38 was a particularly high number for calves - I'm clocking in at 36 and figured that was pretty normal. I think they look pretty good in tights (which isn't happening in summer but let me dream haha). The more you know. My gripe is more my mid section/lower belly/waist area, so I'm a bit jealous of your reportedly slim waist.

Wishing you the best building a body you like.

Thanks, Amirsh. Today I found out I have surprisingly much fun weighing my food and counting calories, so maybe I can stick with it this time. Even though it's driving my husband insane because of my striving for absolute correctness regarding the numbers.

And thank you, VacTom! I'm already practising the next song, that has a lot more tones to master

Belerith interesting that your calves aren't that much thinner, number-wise, but that you feel different about them. I wonder if you're maybe taller (I'm 1.60m) or if yours are better shaped? No idea, but from the calves I have seen up close mine look sooo big. I've always been overly critical with my legs, perhaps I have a wrong view or something (my husband teases me about them, though). And you wouldn't get me into tights even if my life would depend on it
                                And thanks for your wishes.

So, in other news, the second day of counting calories went pretty well, too. I hope I can stick with it for one month and then see how it looks. This time I caved in and made an account on a food database website, so logging the stuff is much easier than tracking by hand (or memory). Semi-positive side-effect of calorie counting: I currently have no free capacities for alcohol. I don't cook very often (my husband is the cook in our household) but when I do so, I usually cook with sherry, or wine, and I like to drink a glass of it on the side. Well, no sherry today. And no Tuesday night whisky either.

Not much else to tell, so here's my status update:

                                Today I did:
                                - Good Morning, World! Day 16
                                - 1 Minute Cardio Day 16
                                - Punches & Squats Day 2
                                - Hero's Journey Day 2 on Level 3 (no karma because I decided to mind my own business with the stranger at the crossroads. I've played enough rpg sessions to know that strangers just mean they try to rob you or somesuch. Not on my watch)
                                - Wall Push Ups Day 16
                                - Power Walk Day 16
                                - Power Grip Day 15
                                Calories consumed: 1418 kcal

I skipped 60 Days of Cardio (again) because I had 6.30 minutes of march steps before and cardio would have been lots of march steps, too.

I hope you all had a wonderful day
