      Day 350

      day 26 Easy Core

Ab Hub I really enjoy plank jacks - I get to jump but it doesn't hurt my knees. And I get to plank at the same time, and I like planks! Win-win.

Had a bit of a rotten day so have to vent.
Last Saturday, went kitten-hunting. The girls bonded with a couple and I told the foster-carer that we'd have them, but they were too young to be taken from their mother for another week Tried to pay a deposit, but the carer said she couldn't take it as she was just a volunteer. Then we went off and got Footprints. Last night, I contacted the carer and was told that the kittens had been given to someone else. But they were ours!, I cried. Alas, to no avail. They screwed up and we pay the price. I was SO angry! So today I had to break the news to the girls. As expected, there were tears - different reactions from each girl, but the one I expected from each girl. The psychologist had recommended a pet some time ago, and finally we had the opportunity to get them each one, and now... boom. Fortunately, a litter is coming in next week, and apparently they will have similar colourings. I've requested first option, and we'll see how that goes. But, oh, I was just so livid! When someone else hurts your children and there is nothing you can do about it.
      There, vented. Thanks for listening.

                  Day 351

                  day 27 Easy Core

day 7 Fighters' Codex Finally hit the un-pause button!

day 1 Ironborn I have been wanting to do this programme for ages and had decided a month or so ago that I'd start it after Fighters' Codex, but then, for various reasons, I paused FC for a bit so didn't finish it when I thought I would have. If I kept to my plan of finishing one before starting the next, then I'd only be about halfway through before regular training recommenced, and I didn't want that with this programme. Anyway, long story short, started it today. It was lovely playing with weights again! And unlike that Other Programme, this one has reps - I really don't go well with "to failure/fatigue".

And when Life gives you lemons, make elderflower champagne!

Nice harvest! My dad makes a delicious elderflower syrup, so yummy in summer!

                      day 28 Easy Core

day 8 Fighters' Codex Done with resistant band
                      day 2 Ironborn

Working on my programming for the coming month and year. Fortunately, some other people have also already begun doing so. Just remember, folks, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

                        It's called creative reinterpretation

Fremen I imagine I'll be doing a bit of "creative reinterpretation"!

                          Day 353

                           day 29 Easy Core

                           day 9 Fighters' Codex
                           day 3 Ironborn

Had to take my car in for service this morning, and as it was too far to walk with the Little Lad home and back to the shop, we just went to the local shopping centre (only about 15 minutes' walk) and hung around there for a few hours. The first half-hour was okay because we bought finger buns (with LOTS of icing) and ate them, but then things became boring. Finished up in the Parents Room where a television was showing children's cartoons, so he watched them while I waited for the text to tell me the car was ready. Finally done 4 hours later. Isn't it strange how, having done absolutely nothing, you're absolutely exhausted?! All I wanted when we got home was a nice cup of tea and a cupcake. Which I had. And then, suddenly (okay, three cups of tea and two cupcakes later) it was time to get dinner started.

Looking through some other people's logs and reading their plans made me think of exactly what I have lying around the place. CaptainCanuck reminded me of the battle rope that's currently wrapped around the exercise bike - which reminded me that I could get on that from time to time, and it''s right next to the rowing machine that needs dusting, and maybe it would be a good idea to do some rowing as well as any pull-up training.
I also get to learn names (new or alternative) for exercises I know, as well as being introduced to exercises I have never heard of (I love this!). Recent new name was "drinking bird", aka single-leg deadlift. I like descriptive names rather than boring ones - like "skull crushers" instead of "tricep extensions". Keep 'em coming!
Then there are general things I need to improve for Taekwondo - primarily running and jumping - so I read through (again) this article and watched Jeff C doing his thing and now quarter squats will have to find their way into my programme somewhere.
And then I'd also like to get a few more challenges done (wonder what January's will be?) and maybe get back to doing the DD as I used to.
And the stretching app (it's pretty good). Possibly look at getting some yoga in too - 30 Days of Yoga perhaps?
                          And....
                          And....

I am trying out some variants on the battle ropes to make them a little less boring. You should try some of them, the link is on my page.

Congratulations on completing Fit Christmas and the Advent Calendars!

I'm sorry about the situation with the kittens. That does suck.

Lots of options for yoga abound. Do you follow the Yoga Team thread here in the Hive?

                                Day 354

day 30 Easy Core Now to wait a whole day to find out what's next (and if I want to do it!)

                                 day 9 Fighters' Codex
                                 day 4 Ironborn

Looking at my pieces of paper with my Wish List on them made me think "Wow, that's a LOT!" Obviously I want to be a SuperHero when I grow up!! And I remember in an episode of The Flash, he ran so fast that he went back in time (didn't Superman do something like that way back too?). Well, I think I'd have to do something like that to fit in everything I want to do - in just ONE MONTH!! C'mon, be sensible! Pick a focus and leave it there. So instead of looking at all the things I'd LIKE to do, I have decided to focus on the things that, for this coming month, are the most IMPORTANT to me. Flexibility is, of course, right up there. It's a constant, something that simply cannot be left out (so that's back to the splits app I've been using, perhaps revisit Flexibility Week, and yes, I think 30 DoY could be a good thing. Rainbow Dragon did you do that just for me? Shucks! ) And then there's my hamstrings - they need to be looked after, so tendon exercises, particularly focussing on the hammies, have to be included., and with them the exercises from my Physio for my weak ankle. Also, of course, my Taekwondo drills. Everything else will be icing on the cake (and I LOVE icing!) I know from experience that sometimes I get little done due to inertia/family/Life/health/whatever and while optimism is great, there must be a large pinch of realism thrown in, and I should schedule what I am likely to be able to get done, so that I don't disappoint myself (leaving a little something to challenge myself with on occasion!). And so, having decided that, now I get to choose, within those parameters, exactly what I am going to do through January. I just LOVE trawling through all the workouts and challenges!
