    Day 182

Thanks, CaptainCanuck I had a strange fantasy that one day I'd see exactly how many push-ups I could actually do throughout the entire day, you know, starting first thing in the morning and then, perhaps hourly or half-hourly AMRAPS (nice and regular so I didn't forget). I thought it could be a bit of fun. Then I thought I had suddenly become seriously disturbed...

    Challenges:
    day 28 Upper Body Plus
    day 28 Glutes of Steel
    day 11 Impossible Abs

    Programme:
day 50 Hero's Journey One of those disturbed, dislocated days, full of waiting, so not much got done.

    day 3 Journey to Splits

It doesnt sound too bad to me, though you might get farther with a set amount everytime.

I agree with CaptainCanuck , this kind of thing might be fun with an achievable number of reps each time but maxing out each cycle sounds like punishment!

CaptainCanuck and Io6 Well, maybe I'll actually really think about it then. Perhaps set a max (but not MY max) and a min - with a range of 5 - rather then an actual limit...

TopNotch Sounds like a plan, I would be tempted to try it too.

              Day 183

Aarghh! Is there anything more annoying than almost finishing your post, only to see that somehow you've just deleted most of it (over which you've laboured long and hard) but you can't just rewrite it while it's still fresh in your brain because it's getting late and you have to get onto your Duolingo so you don't lose your 311 day streak?! No? Right with you there!

              So, take 2.

Okay, CaptainCanuck and Io6 how about this? Choose a fairly light day exercise-wise, in which you have about eight uninterrupted hours. Start with max push-ups - good form, no rest. Then push-up every half hour at this rate: take max number, subtract 10, +/- 2 or 3 either side for subsequent push-up range. So, if max is 25, then subsequent number is 25-10-3=12 to 25-10+3=18. First set = max (25), subsequent sets = 12-18 or 13-17 or etc. After four hours, max out again. Adjust subsequent set numbers if necessary. Final set, also max out and call it a day. I don't think half-hourly is too much but to do it this way, you'd have to have the time. Now that I'm looking at it all worked out, it seems... interesting. Views? Can't do it this week because I've just started Katana Week! Maybe next.

              Challenges:
              day 29 Upper Body Plus
              day 29 Glutes of Steel
              day 12 Impossible Abs

              Programme:
day 50 Hero's Journey Didn't get around to finishing the subquest. Oh well, can't win 'em all!

Katana Week Been wanting to swash a bit of buckle for a while!
day 1 Katana Warmup; Shadow Warrior Woo-hoo, great fun swinging around a polypropylene bokken! Did this on the back deck. Would have been more fun on the front so I could unnerve the neighbours.

              day 4 Journey to Splits

Losing posts is horrible, I have lost several thousand words on some writing projects before. Got to keep the Duolingo going too.

I think that your plan would work in terms of numbers. I am not sure that I would build off of the max, but I think the reps makes sense, between say 13-18, and every half hour would work. I am not sure that going to max is going to have as much benefit though for this, as maxing out is going to kill your anaerobic reserves and build up lactic acid. When I max out I don't usually do anymore pushups for a few hours.

CaptainCanuck How about then just a big finish to max?

TopNotch Oh yeah, sounds good, so do 13-18 every half hour or so, and then aim "to-failure" for a few sets at the end of day. Sounds like it could come from Darebee itself

                      High praise indeed!

Yeah, hitting that range sounds good and finishing on a fatigue/ failure is fun. Looking forward to seeing how you do! I'm tempted to try a TopNotch day, but sticking with vanilla reps!

                          Day 184

                          Challenges:
                          day 30 Upper Body Plus
                          day 30 Glutes of Steel
                          day 13 Impossible Abs

                          Programme:
day 51 Hero's Journey Wow! How often I wish I had better wrist weights! Man, this day was a bit of a killer. And after an arm-heavy Poomsae class too!

                          Katana Week
day 2 Katana Warmup; Ninja Hunter Done on the back deck again because I was told the neighbours were scared enough.

Online Poomsae class - 55 minutes. Heavy on the arms, then burnt out the outer thighs with side leg holds and knee-ups. I can't walk but my arms can't drag me around either! Going back to normal classes from next Tuesday, but there will also still be online classes for extra training, which I reckon will be great. If I can find the time to fit them in!

And tragedy struck today while I was doing my stretching! My fairly new leg stretcher broke!! Not happy, Jan. The pin under the turning wheel sheered off, and now the darn thing is stuck in a half-open position. Shot an email right off to the seller - fix it!

Io6 I've seen how you've been knocking out those push-ups (nothing's secret on here!). Feel free to have a TopNotch day. Maybe Saturday week...?

                          Comment

Ha! Then you've also seen I'm having a hard time finding a sweet spot between push ups, planks and pull ups that won't set off old shoulder injuries when combined with my other stuff.
I'll 'see' you Saturday week...maybe I can finally get my kids doing reasonable push ups then too!

P.s. Happy Upper body and Glutes day
