I'm fascinated by the idea of filming for grading.
Not much we are doing at the moment would count towards progression. Just trying not to go backwards to fast! I'm going to ask if we can demonstrate holds using a fitball and strategically placed foam noodles

A belated congratulations on completing Punches & Squats challenge. Wishing you well for your grading. I have no idea when ours is but it would be chaos with so many people ready to grade.

Io6 Following my first filming of myself, let me say that filming is both a wonderful and a horrible thing. It's horrible when you actually see yourself and you realize how rubbish you really are! It's wonderful when you see yourself and you realize exactly what things you are REALLY bad at (as opposed to just marginally bad) and need to focus on. Or, on a more positive note, you see things you actually CAN do pretty well, even perhaps competently. As much as I disliked filming myself, I think I should do it more often and check my technique with a critical eye. It's also a humbling experience which can inspire harder work!

          Day 173

          Challenges:
          day 19 Upper Body Plus
          day 19 Glutes of Steel
          day 2 Impossible Abs

          Programme:
day 41 Hero's Journey The push-ups to failure was difficult today because my shoulders are sore from... er, no idea, but they're sore! Weapons: fifteen minutes on the exercise bike, fifteen on the treadmill; weights - ouch; planks - they're okay.

          DD with EC = 130. Total DD = 131.

day 30 - Splits app - Intermediate. And that's the end of the Intermediate programme. I'll move on to the Advanced programme in a couple of weeks (break for school holidays) but I'll repeat some of the intermediate days until then, just to keep stretching.
          Self-defence - Blue 1 and 2
          3-Step Sparring - 4 and 5
          Patterns - 5 and 6

Had a go at filming myself today. Oh dear - how absolutely embarrassing! And appalling!! I didn't realize I was so rubbish! Really got to do better over the next couple of days. I'll film again tomorrow and I hope that something I do is worth submitting, but at least I've got until COB Monday to get things that look at least halfway decent. The first part of Grading - the online class - is tomorrow night. I'll be glad when this is over - I think it's kind of worse than regular grading because now I also get to grade myself (but only in my mind), and we all know that we are our own worst critics!

Belated Congrats on Punches & Squats!

I hear you on the filming - seeing oneself on film always seems to be more embarrassing than it should be! At least you can have multiple tries at it before submitting.

              Day 174

              Challenges:
              day 20 Upper Body Plus
              day 20 Glutes of Steel
              day 3 Impossible Abs

              Programme:
day 42 Hero's Journey As usual, totally awesome! I very much subscribe to the "divide and conquer rule".
And so one set off on day 59.

              DD with EC = 130. Total DD = 131.

              Self-defence - Blue 1 and 2. Filmed these today.
3-Step Sparring - 4 and 5. SO kept screwing up number 4! What was with that? First I did the wrong attack and wondered why the defence wasn't quite right; then I did the right attack but the wrong defence... Performance anxiety. Well, finally seemed to get everything together in some sort of form and that will do!
Patterns - 5 and 6. So how come when I did an absolutely excellent showing of these patterns, I wasn't actually filming?! I'll film them tomorrow. Or Sunday. Or both, depending...

As notes, when filming you can keep going until you get it right!

The live Grading class was tonight. I was quite nervous about it - not because of the grading itself since as long as you took part in it, you'd passed that part of the Grading - but because of my internet connection. Sure enough, the connection dropped out three or four times during the first half-hour, and when I reconnected, there was a period of a couple of minutes when I could hear the instructor but not see her, so I'd hear counting and try desperately to remember if I'd heard her say what we were to be doing and have a go at that, even though I couldn't see exactly what we were doing. My computer finally gave up the fight and fell off the network completely at the last ten minutes (fortunately just the stretching), and it took about 5 minutes to get back which was just time to bow out and say goodbye. Well, given that Australia's internet is among the world's worst, I suppose it wasn't too bad!

                Day 175

                Challenges:
                day 21 Upper Body Plus
                day 21 Glutes of Steel
                day 4 Impossible Abs

                Programme:
day 43 Hero's Journey What a bouncy, jumpy day this was! I'm not sure who betrayed whom, but I'm pretty glad that my body didn't betray me, even with all that jumping! Today's was quite a fun workout - I enjoyed it (there were no burpees!)

                DD with EC = 130. Total DD = 131.
Day 26 - Splits app - intermediate. Repeating a week or so, just during the school holidays.
Leg stretcher - 4 minutes. And I went a little further than previously, so that's all good.

                Self-defence - Blue 1 and 2.
                3-Step Sparring - 4 and 5.
                Patterns - 5 and 6.

Late this morning, when everything had calmed down a bit around here, I got stuck straight into my filming. And I did all six things. What I had filmed yesterday I reckoned wasn't good enough - besides, the light was different - so I did everything again. Some took more tries than others, but finally I was (relatively) satisfied, uploaded the files and sent them off. So that's done. Phew! Suddenly the day seemed so much brighter without that hanging over my head! Probably why I found HJ a bit of fun today too - stress relief! The Little Lad kept badgering me to run around the mats (the mats are 5 x 3 of 1m each so he gets a good run and I get to practice sharp quick turns) while he chased me, but he cuts corners and always catches me which results in his hysterical laughter. So after my workouts and stretching, that's what happened. Think that got me more puffed than anything!!

                  Programme:
                   day 44 Hero's Journey

                  DD with EC = 130. Total DD = 131.
Day 27 - Splits app - intermediate. Repeating.
                  Leg stretcher - 4 minutes.

                    Day 177

                    Challenges:
                    day 23 Upper Body Plus
                    day 23 Glutes of Steel
                    day 6 Impossible Abs

                    Programme:
day 45 Hero's Journey With all three weapons.

Really didn't do anything else today. It was a lovely, grey day today - stayed foggy until about 1:30 in the afternoon, then clouded over again before ever the sun got a chance to peek out. Just the sort of day I love being lazy on! So I did.

                      Day 178

                      Challenges:
                      day 24 Upper Body Plus
                      day 24 Glutes of Steel
                      day 7 Impossible Abs

                      Programme:
day 46 Hero's Journey So, like, I go all out on the first set and then totally wind myself for the rest! But I still achieve the subquest. I assume it's for every set - but I confess that once I've hit that magic number, I slow down. It's not deliberate but it happens!

                      Workout:
Better Balance Still got to work on my balance. But also my ankle strength. My right ankle is the one I totally rooted last year - tearing ligaments etc - and it was the one that let me down a bit with hold #3. I had to do that one twice and even then only just made it (with a bit of hopping - which in that position must have looked pretty funny!). Better do those ankle exercises too, I guess.
Day 28 Splits app - intermediate (repeat) Spent some of the day checking out other splits programmes. Wow, so many to choose from! I'm staying away from the ones that promise me my splits quickly - who are they kidding?! Found something that looks promising, but I've only just found it so I'll investigate further and report back.

                        Day 179

                        Challenges:
                        day 25 Upper Body Plus
                        day 25 Glutes of Steel
                        day 8 Impossible Abs

                        Programme:
day 47 Hero's Journey I surprised myself while doing the sumo squats, in that I found no problem in going all the way down - and getting back up! Obviously my thighs are getting much stronger. Not quite ready for pistol squats though!

                        Workout:
                        Ankle Recovery
                        Talk to the Hand
Just to keep the slightly dodgy bits a tad happy.

And did my duty for the Pushers with 383 push-ups this week.

                          Day 180

                          Challenges:
                          day 26 Upper Body Plus
                          day 26 Glutes of Steel
                          day 9 Impossible Abs

                          Programme:
day 48 Hero's Journey Erk, those leg raises with the ankle weights!!

                          Workout:
                          Foam roller
Sore Feet This one is very similar to Ankle Recovery and I like it better.

I want to do more/other stretching exercises, and LizardFriend95 mentioned this one so I'm giving it a try. And I also found out why I was having so much difficulty getting a stretch out of some of the positions - I was doing them wrong!! So thank you to Tom Merrick for putting me right there! And for providing loads more videos, including follow-alongs, to keep me busy.
                          day 1 Journey to Splits
Leg stretcher - 4 mins (icluding PNF stretches)
Stretches (frog with PNF, Good morning, etc) - 5 mins

                              Challenges:
                              day 27 Upper Body Plus
                              day 27 Glutes of Steel
                              day 10 Impossible Abs

                              Programme:
day 49 Hero's Journey Major arm day today. Wow! First the push-ups and bicep curls for Upper Body+, then all the push-ups for HJ (I do enjoy wide-grip push-ups; they seem easier for me. I wonder if they are supposed to?! Finishing with the bicep curls etc for Hammer, and let's not forget the two 3-minute planks (I had intended to do one hand and one elbow but I forgot and just did my usual which is elbow). So I logged 197 push-ups for the day.

                              Workout:
                              Sore Feet

                              day 2 Journey to Splits
