    Day 593

    📌 Daily Floss
    📌 Counting Victories
    📌 Breathe Easy

     Programmes:
    - Chapter 58 Age of Pandora
    - Day 8 Total Abs
     Challenge:
    - day 26 Re-center

This morning, as I was standing up, my right calf gave a great yell of complaint. It went all crampy and horrible, so I massaged it and rolled it and kept it warm and was gentle to it all day, because the only thing worse than a buggered hamstring is a strained calf. So today's calf raises were single leg ones! The squats were done very slowly and carefully, and not as low as usual. Part of me has been expecting something else to go wrong with the right leg, due to the imbalance caused by the strained hamstring, but the rest of me was hoping I'd dodged that bullet. But nope. I'm hoping a nice hot shower followed by a good rubbing with fisiocrem and it'll be all right in the morning. I had been contemplating going for a walk in the afternoon but the weather turned grey again, so I didn't feel as though I'd missed out on a nice afternoon out. Instead, as I had an unhappy daughter, in an attempt to make her happy, I made this butterfly shadow box for her (not real butterflies!).

I put the rest of the day to good use by going through my notes of the Poomsae classes and identifying the ones that drill L-stance transitions. There are five, so they should keep me busy for a bit.

Quite an easy day today, mostly because I was so busy sorting out old papers. It's amazing how they collect! Chilly and generally grey again. But a grey day does make the little almond tree look quite magnificent.

It is always interesting to see that your best winter days are about the same as my worst summer days.

Hamstring Protocol. I am finding the hamstring curls with resistance easier to do now - with both legs. The bridges were hard - at least, the first set was, when Footprints decided to settle down on my midsection and purr into my face. After a couple of slow bridges, she moved to sit back on my groin and then proceeded to pummel my stomach! Very difficult to do bridges when laughing hard! The rest, once she had left, were surprisingly easy.
Home Front workout M29 - Redemption at Rackthorn. This was another cleaning workout - tidying up, scrubbing, sweeping, so that got my exercise room cleaned but I just didn't get around to the bathroom...
Bike - 15 minutes/4.7m. It was actually a 5k run mission, but I cycle them instead at about 18mph. The 10k run I'll probably try to match in distance.

Two days ago, 20 degrees and sunny. Today the temperature just managed to climb up to 9 and it was grey and often very windy. Must confess, I love this sort of weather. Invigorates me, and encourages me to drink lots of hot tea. Yeah, like I need encouragement for that! The cats made themselves cosy and comfortable on top of the mattress leaning against the spare-room wall (with my darling Footsy snuggled on the left). There was just enough room for all of them!

The day started off sunny and warm so I did some weeding. Downloaded a new plant app and actually managed to identify some of the weeds in my garden. One that I've long wondered about turns out to be Carolina Bristle Mallow. There are other more boring names, like red mallow and ground ivy (now that I've heard of but never knew what it was!), but I reckon CBM is a cooler name. Sounds like some woman's name, hey? Then it clouded over and there was some rain so I did inside stuff instead.

     Hamstring Protocol.

Another beautiful day today so I got the second 1x2m garden bed cleared. I even got quite hot out in the sun. The temperature was forecast to get to 20 degrees today - but come Tuesday, it's back down to 11. Well, it's still winter, after all.
