Stand further away from the wall to make them more challenging.

Rainbow Dragon I already do that. Strangely, it makes my neck ache because I have to hold my head back. Odd, hey? Still, it's all a bit of fun.

        Woo-hoo - that's my 30 consecutive days of exercise!

        Day 19
        Workouts:
Classic Abs (3 sets) with EC. Be sorry when I'm finished with this one on Saturday because it's been fun.
No random pick today because I started a couple of programmes instead.

        Challenges:
Wall Push-ups (day 19) As suggested by Rainbow Dragon, I made sure I was further from the wall to increase the load. I think 80cm is the maximum or else I may as well just be doing incline push-ups! My heels are always on the ground so I also get a calf stretch.
        Touch your Toes (day 19)
        Knee Push-ups (day 10)
From Walking to Running (day 15)

        Programmes:
Foundation Light Started with this programme for two reasons. One - I like to start at the bottom of the ladder and work my way up. Imagine if I've done absolutely everything - at level III - and then the only programme I had left was Foundation Light. I might (probably a little erroneously, but not too much by that time!) think I'd not get a great deal out of it. This way, doing it now, I'll get as much out of it as I currently can. Two: there is someone who is not particularly fit or energetic who would benefit from this programme, especially if there was someone else doing it and encouraging. That person did actually do the programme today. Yah!! Whether or not this person continues with the programme remains to be seen, but fingers crossed.
        day 1
<Totals> Because one is never enough!
        day 1

Doing two programmes now means that I don't get a random daily pick now. I'll still grab a workout that I'll do for a week, and there are the challenges too (wonder what February's will be?), and with my regular training beginning again next week, I tihink this will b e enough. Besides, I can always add or subtract as I go along.

I re-read the article How to Build Quality Muscle to try to satisfy myself as to what I should do with regard to my push-ups - low load, high rep or high load, low rep. The final sentence of the article says "If we also require size we must incorporate a low-load, high rep training day here and there in our regime." My take-out is, therefore, that if I want to be able to do my 50 push-ups, then I have to push myself to my limit a couple of times a day, rather than do fewer more often. I'll give it a go. I did 14 today but simply could not lift myself for that 15th. No matter really - a year ago I struggled with 2, and then I had a 12-week hiatus when I broke my arm, and that set me back a surprising amount, so little by little. Not a super-hero yet!

Mind you, today's DD (#19) was a bit of a killer! Just doing that for two minutes should get me some super-hero brownie points! I had two timers set - one for 2 minutes, one for 3. Didn't need the 3-minute one...

Considered the No Junk Food Challenge but as I scoffed my meat pie (apparently considered junk food!!) for lunch, I thought, nah, probably not. The No Sugar Challenge would be easier. Besides, it's only 15 days! Maybe some day...

The fire has been making the sunsets particularly spectacular, but yesterday my little lad looked out the window and exclaimed in alarm, "Look! The fire is getting closer!" Poor lad, had to explain that was just the sunset. Funny and sad, both at the same time.

              Day 20
              Workout:
Classic Abs (3 sets) with EC. Only one more day with this one.

              Challenges:
Wall Push-ups (day 20) Push-up holds today. Using my maximum distance of 80cm from the wall really made the push-ups and holds more difficult! I was surprised how much so, but I also noticed that if I did wall push-ups or holds with my heels off the ground, it made it a lot easier. Why is that so?! Anyway, I don't do that! As a consequence, today my times were waaaaayyy shorter than previous days (I think a touch of boredom also assisted, especially for the last one!) - 1.46 - 1.08 - .59
              Touch your Toes (day 20)
              Knee Push-ups (day 11)
From Walking to Running (day 16) Had to walk for 15 minutes today, so I watched a YouTube video - yup, a scary video from Slapped Ham!

              Programmes:
              day 2 Foundation Light
              day 2 <Totals>

DD with EC (#20). Oh, what a blessed relief after yesterday's!

Did my push-ups for both myself and The Pushers but the new week has only just started so I can't post there yet. I had challenged myself at the beginning of the year to be able to do 12 consecutive full push-ups (chest touching ground) by the end of the month, and I've got there! Given that at the beginning of the year I found it difficult to do even 5, I'm very pleased. If such an improvement continues (incrementally would be brill) then surely I'll get my 50 by the end of the year. Nice to have an aim.

So, do you and AgilePhoenix train together?
If so, it sounds like you have both hashed out a program that is working well for both of you! Congratulations!

                      Day 21
So hot today - 41 outside and about 31 inside - I really didn't feel like exercising but then my 30-day progresses would have been lost so off I went...
                      Workout:
Classic Abs (3 sets) with EC. Last time with this one. I will miss it.

                      Challenges:
                      Wall Push-ups (day 21)
                      Touch your Toes (day 21)
                      Knee Push-ups (day 12)
From Walking to Running (day 17) Walked and ran each 3 minutes, 4 sets. It was so tempting to reduce the speed from 5.5mph, especially during the last 3 minutes! But the good thing about these programmes is that they discourage cheating. I couldn't claim to have completed day 17 if I'd stopped before the end, and dropping the speed when I knew I could continue (even if only just!) would have made me feel as though I'd given up. Besides, I was listening to Yellowcard's "Fighting", and it goes, "I will never give up/ What am I fighting for?" so I kept running. 3.02km (1.79m) in 24 minutes, 3.5mph walking speed and 5.5mph running. Music can really be very helpful!
Upper body light (day 1) Had already decided to do the February challenge. This one looks like fun.

                      Programmes:
                      day 3 Foundation Light
                      day 3 <Totals>

                      DD with EC (#21).

                            Day 22
Hotter and stuffier inside than outside - still unpleasant. Halfway through the day, though, the weather changed and became beautifully cooler. Of course, I'd already done my workouts by then but I got in a short walk.

                            Workout:
Super Buzz (3 sets). Fun new one for the next week.

                            Challenges:
                            Wall Push-ups (day 22) Holds again - 2:29 - 1:03 - 1:20
                            Touch your Toes (day 22)
                            Knee Push-ups (day 13)
From Walking to Running (day 18) Walked for 2 minutes, and ran for 3 minutes, 4 sets. It was hard. I am so not enjoying this! I HATE running! I think the only reason my genetic material survived the sabre-toothed tigers was because my ancestors hooked up with people who were even slower than they were! Some of us, I sincerely believe, are simply not made to run. But I will run. I will see this challenge through. It would hardly be called a challenge if it didn't challenge, would it?! I keep thinking that it must be doing me good. At the beginning (22 days ago), running just one minute was a trial. Now I'm running 3 minutes. It's still a trial, but at least I can do it now. Not fast, this is true. I covered 2km in 16 minutes - walking at 3.5mph, running at 5.5mph (yes, I know there's a mix of km and miles!) - and a total of 2.54km in the 20-minute workout. There must be some benefit - some physical benefit, and, eventually, when I've completed the challenge, the mental benefit of my being able to say, yep, did that. It's not my lungs that let me down because at the end of it I'm not really huffing and puffing; I can still carry on a conversation and my respiration is back to normal fairly quickly. No, it's my legs that say they've had enough. Tell you what, legs, when you've done 4 sets of 5 minutes of running with only one minute walking between, then you can say you've had enough!
                            Upper body light (day 2)

                            Programmes:
                            day 4 Foundation Light
                            day 4 <Totals>

DD with EC (#22). Which gave me 397 punches for We are fighting...

                              Day 23
Cool change today - what a relief! Only went up to 30C.

                              Workout:
Super Buzz (3 sets). Still enjoying this one.

                              Challenges:
Upper body light (day 3) This may be named "light" but it still makes my shoulder work!
                              Wall Push-ups (day 23)
                              Touch your Toes (day 23)
                              Knee Push-ups (day 14)
From Walking to Running (day 19) Today I had to walk for 3 minutes, then run for 3 minutes, 5 times. I was surprised that I found it, while not easy, not nearly as hard as I had earlier feared. I don't like running; I probably will never like running; and when I finish this challenge, I may never do another running challenge (let alone programme!) again, but I cannot deny that I do feel that this is making me fitter. I am pleased that I am not puffing at the end of the workout, and that my recovery time has shortened. I probably won't be the first to go when the zombie apocalypse comes!

                              Programmes:
                              day 5 Foundation Light
                              day 5 <Totals>

DD with EC (#23). Today really was a leg day!

                              P.S. Today I did 15 full, touching-torso-to-the-ground push-ups!!
