Yesterday I was, but today... I don't know. Strangely, I think I feel a little humbled and awed. What's in store for me now?

    Day 817

A bit of a slack day today. I felt tired and a little sore after yesterday - I suppose not just the physical effort but also the nervous and psychic efforts has wiped me out a bit. So I took it easy, and the running programme can wait another day! The day started off warm and sunny. My eldest went off down the Coast for a few days, so I took the other two out for a walk through the Cork Oak plantation at the Arboretum. It was about a 2k round trip, and we took it so slowly, collecting acorns, photographing everything. There were some really cool fungi. We were in no hurry so it took us 45 minutes! At home, pockets were unloaded and we have two cups-worth of acorns with their little caps.

But now begins another chapter in my life, and so I need another plan. The reminder regarding push-ups (50 at one go) and splits (180°) has been echoing in my head all day. Next Mastery will be, as it usually is, in fourth term, so from October to December. That gives me 8 months from now to work on these things. I've been thinking about hw to get those push-ups. I've tried a number of various progression programmes and nothing has got me any further than about 27. I was reading some things this morning and I can't recall if it was something that someone had written or if I extrapolated this from somewhere or just made it up myself. Anyway, ages ago I wrote that I was going to run for 15 minutes until I could run for 15 minutes! I achieved that goal - and I will again. So I should do 50 push-ups until I can do 50 push-ups. I don't know if this is going to work but I've got nothing to lose by trying. What I'll do is 50 push-ups at one go -- but as I can't do 50 full push-ups, I'll do a drop set, aiming to complete 50 push-ups of whatever sort. Start with full push-ups, go to eccentric push-ups with knee assist, and then incline push-ups, hoping to get to 50. When I can get to 50, I'll try to increase at one end and decrease the other.
As for the splits - well, there is that app I like, and I have so many follow-alongs to follow. I might not get there in 8 months, but I should be able to get closer.
I listened to a couple of ZR episodes while we walked, and this was said:
"If you have a goal, and you really want it, you have to be prepared to do the thing that no one else will do. You have to take more trouble than anyone else would think possible."
    Runner 8, Zombies, Run! S2E36.
That struck me as particularly apposite right now.
