Feeling good today! Woke up a minute before my alarm, which I love, and had a good day. Finally did another Daily Dare and that felt good. Cooked lotsa good new recipes and read some excellent new short stories. Looking forward to my run tomorrow.

Thanks for the well wishes Whirly15 and DorothyMH. I know it's good for me in the long run.

NancyTree Thank you for that message! It helps me to see you and others take your own health or injuries into consideration and modifying their workout routines as needed. I just gotta remember that we don't always have to keep pushing.

I've started tracking my carbs and calories again and dang I am super bad at eating enough calories when I am low carb. Even with all the above, I only just hit my upper limit of 150g carbs and 1800 calories. I know that calories aren't accurate, with fairly large margins of error, but I definitely didn't eat enough today. I had a migraine and was really irritable, which I thought was from other things. But once I ate, I felt better.

As my reaction to stress tends to be to not feel hungry at all, I've become pretty bad at my body telling me I'm hungry when I'm having a bad day. Since I felt so terrible, I could barely eat the lunch.

21st was a terrible day, all around. It's gotten better though allergies are starting to take a toll again.

I hear ya on the allergies. It’s been a bad season for them; makes you feel like shit even tho you aren’t sick.

                    Comment

DorothyMH Very much so! I see all that you are able to do despite them, and that gives me hope that I'll get better at managing them as the years go by. But OH BOY do they lay ya low.

It's been a really shitty few days, guys!
After running for 8m on Thursday, I was done. My back hurt so bad I had to return to sleeping on the floor and doing nothing at all in the way of cleaning or workouts. Thank goodness it was the weekend and my husband was off work because I couldn't pick up our daughter at all.

In this desire to get strong, I haven't been keeping up well with my yoga and apparently I cannot run if I do not. It's feeling as bad as it did the last time I had a flare-up - years ago, before we were married. I love running and I want to be able to do it again, but it looks like I need to really refocus on the yoga that helped me before. My sciatica will always be here and I need to make sure I can still do the daily tasks I need to do.

So for the next week or two, I won't be doing any darebee exercises or running. Perhaps I will do the yoga week instead. I will be focusing on just yoga for now, until I stop having constant pain in my back and hips and my nighttime spasms stop. After that, I would like to focus more on running bc I love it and it's my favorite stress reliever. But perhaps it's prudent to strengthen my abs or lower back before venturing out again. I don't know. More research is needed.

This has mostly been mentally taxing. I've been feeling depressed this weekend and so have found it difficult to eat. Today was a nice, lazy Sunday. We slept in, ordered brunch, and all three of us sat together watching TV. My toddler could tell I was in pain so she brought me her stuffies and kisses.

I need to be more patient. And cautious. I will be the slowest turtle in my "race" to a healthy life. I don't know how long it will take me. For now at least I can do yoga and take walks outside with my kid, which are always nice.

                      Comment

The turtle can still win if he takes a compatible pace and the hare twists his ankle because he's in a hurry.
So keep your own pace, then it'll come around.

Hang in there, Sasstronaut, you’ll get there, eventually. I remember MANY days of feeling shitty when I was your age. Most days were like that, actually. It does improve.....
Meanwhile, do your yoga, take care of your kiddo and let the husb help if he will. Clean your house (it’s great exercise and will help with allergies), and eat good for you foods.
I like the idea of doing the Yoga Week while you figure out what comes next. We are awfully close to the end of July, so maybe ponder a nice slow August plan.....?

Healing vibes! You're already discovering the right path forward and it doesn't make sense to travel the wrong path. Really hope you feel better soon!

That’s so sweet of your daughter .

I hope you’ll be able to pick running back up soon. Have you tried a yoga sequence for runners?

I hope you start feeling better, soon! It sounds like you have a good plan to back off on the running for now and focus on yoga. It can be hard to take things slow even when it is the best course of action.
