    Glitch City, 207X A.D. A city that shouldn't exist...

What is like to live in a real life Cyberpunk dystopia? How do you stay fit and positive in a place where only sadness and dispair is all around the place? To be honest, I don't have a full answer, but you can look at my daily life and try the best to figure out an answer by yourself.

I've been lurking around some logs, and I've been wanting to pick my diary back up and write again. However, this time, I'm going to try to not go overboard with my writing, so forgive me if (sometimes) it looks like too much. I can't help it, more so when I'm going to be speaking as if I'm writing from the future, to spice things up a little bit.

The title explains itself. If you still don't know what the hell is supposed to mean, do yourself a favor and play VA-11 Hall-A, for this log will be similar in narrative and setting to those you see on the game, specially since Glitch City is actually inspired on my country (justified, since the creators are from here too).

So, a little bit about me first:

    Name: Sólveig
Species: Cyborg [AWAITING INCEPTION] (born male, transitioning to female)
    Height: 1.76 Mts.
    Previous weight: 98 Kgs.
    Current Weight: 64 Kgs.

It's been now two weeks since I cut my routine in half, basically. Although I feel great about doing the community service, I miss to do full workouts. I hate to choose between having good hair or having a healthy body, and to my university standards, looks are as important as brains. After all, it's the only university in the entire country that focuses on graduating teachers...

Spent the whole day with my mother in the downtown district. It wasn't my plan, but it ended up like this because a major powercut that lasted three hours from 9 AM to 12 PM. We walked... a lot. And we talked... Gave her the good news about yesterday: the dean surprised visited us while we were giving our lessons, and he was pleased with our project, so much so that plans are being drawn to give the school more life. I might land in a job as a piano teacher over there, but only to the general public and not other students. It'll still look awesome in my CV.

There was another powercut, but it was more of an overload or something, since it didn't last more than five minutes. I'm not sure why power is unstable, and as usual, neither QUINCY nor Zaibatsu Corp explains a thing, and if they did, they'll blame reptiles for it... again...

    Done today:
<TOTALS>: Day 9 (20 Jumping Squats left. Will do before bed)
Epic Five: Day 28 +Epic (Haven't found a time to do so. Will probably do before bed at the last resource)
    August 23rd's DD: 40 Bridges. +EC
    Power Grip Challenge: Day 23
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 7

There was a quake this morning. 4.3, 25 kilometers out of town. Haven't heard anything from the government. Started to write a story for a contest. The deadline is next week, and I'm not sure if I can make it with these powercuts. Tonight it lasted from 7 PM until midnight. The upcoming week will be really busy now.

I managed to finish all the workouts from yesterday before bed. Today everything was completed in time. I also could finally speak with my dad, a feat that I haven't been able to do because every single time there is a major blackout, all phone lines shut down. Tonight was different. His birthday is coming up soon aswell...

        Done today:
        <TOTALS>: Day 10
        Epic Five: Day 29 +Epic
        Workout of the Day: Splits
        Everyday Workout
        August 24th's DD: 40 Plank Rotations +EC
        Power Grip Challenge: Day 24
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 8

My body is hungry for a more intense workout than my usual routine. Even though I'm ok with it, I want to spice things up by picking up a program that doesn't need to be an addon or something that doesn't make me sweat. I really want to do Spartan Trials, yet I don't know how to do Pull-Ups, but there are several playgrounds near-by with bars. Nothing stops me to start practicing next week.

I didin't mean to start a program before leaving the country, but I guess once you start with one of them, you don't seem to stop. The reason why I decided to do Epic Five was to add something quick on the morning, right after waking up, other than the challenges. And I picked <TOTALS> because I knew that I was going to be really busy this month, plus pictures of the service were taken, and I wanted to look good for both those and my students. No sweat allowed, or my hair gets messed up.

Only a couple of weeks more left. Today was a lazy, yet active day. Spent binge watching Gotham's final season, but I wasn't sitting the whole time. I also practiced some sewing by making pockets, plus I'll probably fix some old pants later tonight, that is, if there isn't a powercut. I have to go to bed early too, if I don't get caught by the muse and write until late night...

          Done today:
          <TOTALS>: Day 11
          Epic Five: Day 30 +Epic
Breasts Lift Workout (Will do it later tonight)
          Everyday Workout
          Splits +EC
August 25th's DD: 2 Min Leg Extensions +EC
          Power Grip Challenge: Day 25
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 9

Community service today didn't have us giving class, but actually getting one. We learned several strategies to teach little kids music and had quite a lot of fun with it! I got plenty of ideas to work later on the future, and I also offered my services of seamstress to my classmates. Plenty were interested.

So far, a good day. I fixed some pants (trousers) and now I'm putting a late night writing to carry on with the short story. I should be sending it by the end of the week now.

            Done today:
            <TOTALS>: Day 12
Epic Five: Day 31 -Epic (5 sets of 60 seconds, 30 seconds rest). Program completed!
August 26th's DD: 60 Seconds Bicep Extensions +EC
            Power Grip Challenge: Day 26
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 10

Today morning was alright. I was planning to work out more, but I didn't have any cash to come back home. I walked around the entire east side of town, looking out for an ATM, but it seems that such a simple task has evolved into a hunt for epic loot. Two hours walking, didn't find anything. Either the ATMs weren't working, there was no power or they didn't have money at all. I thought I wasn't going home today, and I arrived tired. I had to skip work, and spent the day massaging my feet.

I haven't walked for that long in such a while...

                Done today:
                <TOTALS>: Day 13
                August 27th's DD: +EC
                Power Grip Challenge: Day 27
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 11
Walking around the entire east side of Barquisimeto looking for an ATM
                Getting cash from said ATM

After what went wrong yesterday, I decided to take the day off. I had plans, but everything changed when an uncle showed up. He left the country today, apparently temporary. Right now, he must be in Colombia, and waiting for his plane to Chile.

There was a powercut that stopped me from writing this afternoon. The deadline is sunday, and I need to finish it on friday. Wish me luck

                    Done today:
                    <TOTALS>: Day 14
                    August 28th's DD: 40 Modified Scissors +EC
                    Power Grip Challenge: Day 28
Calves of Steel Challenge: Day 12
                    Everyday Workout
                    Breasts Lift Workout +EC

Power Grip is almost over. I'm in the mood for Spartan Trials on October, so I'm planning to do Pull-Up Challenge next.

Well, I'm relieved. My class doesn't have to play on the upcoming performance at the end of class. It's good, considering the majority is just starting, and teaching them how to play the piano in 8 classes in 4 weeks is almost impossible, but they are motivated enough to keep learning, which was my primary goal the whole time. Also, the deadline is tomorrow. Better finish everything now.

                      Done both days:
                      <TOTALS>: Days 15 and 16.
Daily Dares: August 29th's: 2 Minutes Elbow Clicks +EC. August 30th's: 20 Boat Folds +EC.
Power Grip Challenge: Days 29 and 30. Challenge completed!
Calves of Steel Challenge: Days 13 and 14.
                      Everyday Workout +EC.
                      Breasts Lift Workout +EC.
WoD: Push-Up Party LVL III +EC whilst listening to this mix.

Finally, I wrote the entire story out and sent it. I didn't think I could pull it off in such a short amount of time, but it ended up good. It's slightly longer than a regular pulp fiction short story (they are usually 6000 words long, mine is 7500 words long), but it has a significantly better quality, plus both the characters and the plot are interesting enough that my girlfriend actually wants to make a comic about it, and honestly, I really want to develop those characters.

I couldn't write last night because of the powercut, but I'll put what I did yesterday aswell. I tried this morning to do some pull-ups, but I ended up trying to do the first day of the Dead-Hang challenge instead, only to end up doing the first 10 second dead-hang, rest, and then dropping from the bar on the second one 3 seconds before the 10 seconds mark. Well, I tried, but I'm not discouraged. Changed plans to do the 50 Burpees in One Go challenge instead. I will make some dumbells heavier than the ones I used to have to do the Spartan Trials in October.

It was also a nice change to go to the park and work out there. Everything was calm, and contrary to what I thought, there were some people there. I ended up doing the Butt Lift Workout after my attempt on the bars just because I needed something for the lower body.

                        Done both days:
                        <TOTALS>;: Day 17 and 18
Daily Dares: August 31st: 2 Minutes Raised Leg Hold +EC. September 1st: 60 Climbers +EC
Calves of Steel Challenge: Days 15 and 16

50 Burpees in One Go Challenge: Day 1
                        Butt Lift Workout +EC

Well, it's one of those days, again... Another day of waking up only to ask myself how is it that am I still alive? How is it that all of us, in Glitch City, are still alive? How is it that the world is crumbling, yet we carry on with our lives as if nothing is happening? I think back to Tim Ferriss and this whole time he keeps being right about one thing about this situation. When it comes to politics, specially those against Zaibatsu and QUINCY, people are divided in two fronts: those who put blind faith on their way too pacifists and weak leaders that are more like political activists instead of princes, and say that everything is going well, and those who say that we need a violent exit from this situation, yet they are cowards who still live in the 50s and aren't capable of even setting the alarm during the protests when the White Knights came to "restore order." Ironically, those two seem to agree in one thing: no one, not a single soul is even capable of lifting a finger to make a difference. They do nothing at all. Absolutely nothing...

Today, this article appeared on The Augmented Eye everywhere (apologize for moonspeak and poor translation from Google). I was afraid if such a day would come, there would be chaos, people would be ransacking homes, plundering shops and scavenging whatever they could find... But it seems nothing is happening. We are all carrying on with our lives like nothing is happening.

I'm already at 64 Kgs, and I don't know how I managed to keep it that way. All that comforts me is that I'll leave this place soon, but if this implodes, I might leave earlier than expected.

On a brighter side, though, I learned a little bit of drums this morning. A childhood dream fulfilled! In the future I might invest in a kit and learn much more. Plus I can say, for sure, that my girlfriend is slowly turning into a Darebee now. I really wish there were more workouts like Army of Two so we can try out when we finally see each ohter in Spain, although Punching Bag is a good teamwork with one holding the bag and the other one doing the workout...

This is the last week of community service. I'll focus my class on theory instead, and talk about health and possible injuries when playing the piano. Final class will be next thursday, and it'll be a general debrief about the piano, its history and some samples of music from different genres.

                          Done today:
                          <TOTALS>: Day 19

It seems I'm making new friends at service. It's a nice thing that we are bonding over videogames OSTs and orchestral arrangements for them.

Class was also ok. There will be a presentation next friday, so I'm inviting people to come over.

Overall a good day, but nothing too special about it.

"If you want to gather honey, don't kick over the beehive." —Dale Carnegie.

Today was the rehearsal for tomorrow. My class plans got screwed over again due to our boss improvising and rushing everything. I was focused more on teaching rather than putting something for performance because I knew my students didn't have the cut. Having a very easy work played flawlessly in a month is impossible, specially since most of my students didn't have any possibility to practice, so they were more into it for the novelty or hobby exploration.

Originally, the plan was to offer an alternative to the traditional academy. Instead of focusing on teaching everything about music, it was more of using music as a vehicle to make people to feel better about themselves through music, criticizing the conservative academy in favor of a more humanitarian approach. But, today, I saw that our boss eventually become what she criticized the most, yet I'm not surprised. This is Glitch City; here, any art is tropicalized. I've been involved in this business for my whole life, and I've only seen two instances where an event was actually organized with enough time and careful planning, and the lead of those two events was one teacher who he said a day, and that day was done.

But now, I'm the bad guy for trying to make things right in a short amount of time. I don't take criticism personally, but when it comes with a quite authoritarian tone that does not come from my parents, I do take it personally. Just because you're in a position of leadership doesn't mean you are in your right to belittle the ones below you, and kicking them until they make things right.

In the end, it was all for nothing. After the rehearsal, three of my students decided to play on the show, and two more will support them. What the other teachers don't seem to understand is that insisting doesn't work. In the end, they'll slowly associate music with negative emotions, thus they will abandon it. What they needed was to see their mates from the other courses, adapt and experiment, not someone telling them what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Forcing students to do something? So much for a humanitarian approach. Talk a lot about leadership, but they don't get anything about charisma...

Well, it doesn't matter anyways. At least I got an idea to work with next time, so I can make them happy. I was obsessed with that little project that I forgot about the WoD and ended up looking for a buttload of songs to arrange for my students. I got more than what I wanted.
