and finally had a sit down with my master at Kung Fu and he has agreed to take me on as an assistant instructor. He started off by telling me that they have changed the criteria to minimum entry being two levels higher than I currently am but he will let me try anyway. This is quite a thing for me on a personal level. I have instructed things like first aid with the NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW State Emergency Service which can have potentially life changing results but this somehow feels different. I have always wanted to help people in different ways hence being a volunteer emergency service worker and blood donor etc. I guess this is another way I can help and give back to the school that has looked after me for past couple of years. He explained that it is a 12 month program with the first six months theory before getting hands on and how did I feel about that. He asked about my work commitments and finally said "do you still want to do it and if so when do you want to start?" I simply replied "see you Monday". I am quite excited which is not something that happens very often to this 46 year old.

Congratulations with becoming a Kung Fu instructor! I see Kung Fu being edged out by other martial arts over here, so it's good to see it being kept alive throughout the world.

That's a huge recognition of progress and I look forward to your updates.

Thank you Io6 , GentleOx, Silent Wolf , Fremen, DorothyMH, Mianevem, San. Thanks you for your support.

GentleOx, I know what you mean. Around here, Tae Kwon Do seems to be the thriving martial arts although some old school ones like Karate are starting to make a come back. We have both Wing Chun and Jow Gah Kung Fu schools near by.

                              10/10/2020 (Day 86 again)

Kung Fu class - 1.5 hours. Not sure how the blood bank is going to like all the bruising when I go in on Monday.....

No additional exercise or training as wedding anniversary so spent additional time with wife (also knowing I was leaving her with the kids on Sunday while I play fire fighter!)

Well, while no structured exercise or training, I had probably one of the better workouts I've had in a long time = 12 hours fire fighting at a hazard reduction. Clocking up 12,500+ steps which was a lot considering I was the driver and spent most the time behind the wheel or at the pump at the rear of the truck. Glad too see rock wallabies while driving out of the bush. I haven't seen too many of those in the urban/bush interface for a while.
