Time to fix this broken carcass!

G'day all, I joined Darebee in Feb 2018 (according to my profile) but somewhere along the line I lost track/motivation/the plot.

I am now back. I have been for a little while now, and have been enjoying the light calisthenics of the Foundation Light program as I recover from a niggling Adductor Longus injury incurred while trying to side kick one of my instructors out the front door during pad work at Kung Fu a few months back. Something went 'pop' that shouldn't have and that was the end of that. Serves me right for being overzealous. I had been doing Kung Fu for about a year and enjoy the challenge especially considering I am the wrong side of 40 and don't especially pack an athletic physique thanks to a desk job, poor time management and a seemingly endless supply of excuses. I was always hesitant about doing a martial art but the people I have met there have convinced me that I made the right choice. But I need more. I need more fitness, strength and flexibility. While Kung Fu can contribute towards this I have taken on Yoga to assist with muscle and joint flexibility and looking to do free weights but that is down the track. The gym and I have never been firm friends but go through bouts of mutual appreciation.

So why am I here now? I guess I need some form of accountability and somewhere to record training. I have never been really fit or strong but would like to get back some strength, tone and dignity while I still can. I like the variety of programs and challenges which will (hopefully) keep me going along with the great stories of achievement of the people in The Hive, especially those just starting out like me. Having a gym/fitness room at work helps providing I can shuffle across the corridor to the change rooms and then down the corridor to the gym. My goals for now are to shed some of the bulk I am carrying. Looking back, in 2015 I dropped 15kg and toned up. I wake up in 2019 and most of the weight I lost is back and have no muscle tone. What the hell happened? Time to fix this.

So This is Day 1. Weight: 105.5 kg (down from 108 earlier this week) so let's do it.
Good timing. I went to the change room all pumped up and motivated and before I came to my senses and went back to my office; a blackout struck. It was a sign! No power for computers but enough for emergency lighting in the gym.

Warm up: light Kung Fu staff and spear training done outside in the sunshine using the broomstick I found in the gym.
Daily Dare: 30 Raised Leg Push-Ups. Done but no chance of extra credit today. I completely lack any form of core strength or upper body strength however these are goals to work towards. So I broke it up into sets of 10.
Foundation Light: Day 17 at level III. Re-did Day 15 and Day 16 as no power for the treadmill.
30 Days of Yoga: Day 1 completed. Some of the poses really tugged at the hamstrings/adductors but I made sure I didn't overdo it.
Power Grip 30-day challenge: Day 21. Completed with some cursing and swearing. But only 9 days to go.
Arms of Steel daily workout: Didn't get a look in. I should have done it after the daily Foundation Light workout but the Daily Dare taxed the little upper body strength and stamina I had. Not a good start.

Tomorrow I plan to start the 90 Days of Action program unless I get some free time tonight to give it a whirl. Some of the other challenges appeal as well but don't want to do what I usually do and load myself up with challenges and find that I have about 2 hours worth of challenges and only 1 hour to do it all in. First Thing Water 30-day challenge seems doable as does the 1 minute meditation 30-day challenge. I looked at the Get To Bed On Time challenge and laughed as I am running on about 2 hours sleep (and not consecutive). One thing I want to do is be realistic. So this will do for today before I lose it.

Take care everyone and be safe.

Thanks noname, I hope to but I feel it won't be a walk in the park.

Day 1, part 2 (arriving home to the smell of roast pork motivated me to push another workout or two)
90 Days of Action: Day 1- Level III (just). Last set of push ups was on knees. This doesn't bode well for me. But that said, it was motivation to push me harder and onto another Workout.
Vortex workout - Level III. At least my kids thought it looked amusing.

Sleep now so I can tackle tomorrows challenges

Welcome back! Gee, you’re sounding great and motivated! You’re right, tho: be careful not to overload yourself right away. You also want to avoid injuries in these early days which is when they can be waiting for you. We expect to see your postings!!😎πŸ₯³πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

                As promised.

Day Two. (not done all at once)
First Thing Water 30-day challenge: Day 1 - Done. Not my usual sort of thing but a good enough habit to develop.
Power Grip 30-day challenge: Day 22 - Done. Arms tired and a little sore from yesterday but done.
1 Minute Meditation 30-day challenge: Day 1. Done.

Day Three. Weight: 107.0 kg - WTF???? Doesn't the scales know I am working out and trying to shed weight?
Not a happy camper. Not a good day, it started well aside from the scales having Friday-itis.
First Thing Water 30-day challenge: Day 2 - Done. I did remember hence proving myself wrong from last night's doubts.
Daily Dare: 40 Raised Leg Circles - Done with EC on second attempt. First was interrupted by work colleagues expecting me to do work. The nerve of them!
1 Minute Meditation 30-day challenge: Day 2. Done. Very relaxing with the scented candle going as well.
Power Grip 30-day challenge: Day 23 - Done.

                  Then it fell apart.
Warm up: 15:03 minutes walk on treadmill @ 6.0 km/h with 4.5 incline for 1.50 km.
Daily Workout: Hello, abs! - 1 set complete only. Didn't even make it to level I. No core strength today. I don't know why. I should be able to at least manage 3 sets.
Foundation Light program: Day 19 - Level III.
90 Days of Action program: Day 3 - Level I only. Thought the abs had a big enough rest while doing the above but apparently not. Lower back tinge while doing Sitting Twists didn't help.

                  After lunch
30-day Yoga challenge: Day 3 - Done. 5 minutes meditating was more like 10 but worth it. Very relaxed.
Daily Dare: 40 Bridges - Done with EC. Things are looking up.

Actually I thought I could squeeze another couple of workouts before dinner.
Daily Workout: Power Run - Level II. Too knackered to finish the last two sets.
Couch Potato workout - Done just in time.

                  Have a good weekend everyone.

First Thing Water: Day three - Done
1 hour of Kung Fu training

Power Grip 30-day challenge: Day 24 - Done

Foundation Light program: Day 20 - Done at Level III
90 Days of Action program: Day 4 - Done at Level III

                    1 minute meditation: Day 3 - Done.

Did I mention how hard it is to work out with the aroma of slow cooking ribs filling the house!!

Have a great night everyone and see you tomorrow.
