                  Here's a somewhat lengthy update about running progress and life.

                  In early July I started a new career jumping outside of my comfort zone but still within the realm of programming. The technology I get to use and the team I joined are both incredible blessings and I'm extremely grateful.

                  When it came to my mental health I was still feeling like every single day was a soul-crushing struggle despite regular exercise, calorie tracking, gratitude exercises, moderating less desirable habits, therapy, etc. Despite recognizing the blessing of the new career and being genuinely excited, I could not stay focused and became desperate enough to visit the doctor again this time wondering if I may have an endocrine imbalance or something. Long story short, the doctor prescribed a new medication that can help with both focus and depression and it worked like magic. I felt like I woke up from a coma and almost immediately started to feel like myself again. After my experience with another anti-depressant (mentioned in my first post in my hive log), I lost hope that medication could help me at all and this experience proved how wrong I was about that perception.

                  Fast forward to today and it's been about a month of feeling alive again and I'm so grateful I hung on even when the work I was putting in didn't seem to be immediately helping. So part of the reason I've been quiet is starting a new job and the other half was waking up out of fog to finally feel alive again after many years. Small tasks or chores that pop up no longer annihilate me leaving me tired and useless.

                  As for running progress, I recently reaffirmed my second ever half marathon distance and beat my time to boot. I've also spent a couple weekends since I've been feeling better working on freeing my Strava data and managed to pull all of my data into spreadsheets using some python code I wrote. The graphs you see are data from Strava (via the Strava API which gives access to hidden metrics) pulled into google sheets and visualized. I'm still working on my new dashboard but the information I'm happiest to have access to is the estimated best efforts for each segment distance for every run (so if I run 10K, Strava calculates best times for 400m, 1/2 mile, 1 mile, 2 mile, 5K, etc on a rolling basis). These normally hidden estimated best efforts are especially helpful because I usually lump my cool down walk into my activity which means my overall moving time and pace are affected.

                  Here are a few graphs that show some neat trends like distance run per activity increasing massively, general improvements in time since April for 5K segments, and that I've run the most distance on Wednesdays and Sundays (thanks to pivot table analysis).

                  I spent the entire summer last year working through Half Marathon Training and had to abort the plan due to trouble with my Achilles (from not stretching). By staying consistent with training and stretching this year I worked up to my first two Half Marathons without following a formal plan (though I have continued to roughly model my weeks in a similar way to the official plan).

                  When I started running I was literally trying to not die and wondered if I'd ever run 5K without stopping. Now I'm clocking 20K+ runs and loving it.

                  I can't fathom where (or if) my life would be without DAREBEE and am eternally grateful to neilarey for having such a beautiful vision to make fitness accessible and welcoming to everyone. I'm thankful to the DAREBEE staff for keeping things running/protecting the community and everyone in the Hive who's offered genuine support, advice, and inspiration by example.

                  As for places to improve, I think I could use some cross training and will hopefully be working my way back to regular workouts (beyond running) with a focus on core and upper body.

                                I'm glad you are in a better place and you've got a treatment plan that's working for you. It's amazing when the drugs work.
