    Gave into the procrastination monsters today but happy I still got my exercise in. Somehow forgot to drink any coffee so I have a mild headache that didn't seem to interfere with exercising aside from a bit of discomfort. Ready for pandemic stress to be over lol. Need to focus on my diet and sleep the next few days. Almost no wheezing on the run today.

    Halloween porch, need vaccine to visit. [???]

      Today I scheduled out my whole week because having no schedule clearly wasn't working. I kept finding myself deeper in poor sleep hygiene, distractions, and excuses and I think a lot of it was just not having a real plan. I present my plan here: 🎉

      New schedule

      Feels a little daunting but better than feeling like my life is spiraling out of control. Been meaning to do this for months.

      Dreams last night:
      Ok symbol, [illegible] crush? [No idea but think crush meant someone I liked]



      Pitch of roof and snow accumulation.



      Caught bus home with groceries just in time. I had a partner named Natala who worked at the grocery store.



      I was hiking in the woods and saw a squirrel in a tree. When I got closer I noticed a racoon in a hole in the same tree that then turned into a cat. I was able to grab the cat and it had a harness/collar on. I took the cat back to a co-op house I used to live at and couldn't find a phone number on the collar or harness but there was writing. It was difficult to read because the cat was stressed and kept trying to escape. It got loose in the house and freaked out even more when it encountered a dog. I asked a former housemate to help me find the phone number but he instead sat on the couch while I struggled to calm the cat again. I was frustrated that no one would help. The cat was mostly white with brown and some black coloring.

          Got to bed on time last night (20:00) and already did my laundry, took a walk, made breakfast, got groceries, and exercised by 09:30. My body wasn't used to being in bed by 20:00 so I slept for a bit (having my first dream below) then was awake until after 02:00 only to get up at 04:00. I did stay in bed though which should help my body adjust to the new stricter schedule. Weird posting in the morning but this is what we do now.

          Dreams last night:
          Found magical instructions for summoning a partner for intimate times in a random shed at night. The shed was behind an unfamiliar house with no lights on. A person appeared and sat on my lap.



          I was at a party and realized I was given a hallucinogenic drug. A person was with me upstairs inside a house and we made our way outside to a pool. When I closed my eyes I could see a static rainbow blob.

              Looks like a cool plan! Just don't let yourself be discouraged if you can't hold yourself to it every single day. That Goggins quote is very inspiring, but unfortunately willpower is only enough to get us on track -- it can't keep us there. Habits can, and they are formed through constant trial and error.

              I just felt like I need to say this because you often appear to be frustrated with yourself and I wanted to remind you that failing to live up to our short-term goals is a natural part of everyone's journey. The most important skill is being able to return to your plan even after a messed up day. That gets you further than a perfectly executed plan.

                  My first icy/snowy run ever! Also my first morning run of the new schedule and feeling pretty great about it. It took me a bit longer than anticipated to "boot up" this morning but I got warmed up and did my sit-ups before 07:00 and was running by 07:15. This timing is pushing it for work days if I have a longer run but it was good to have a practice day before the work week starts. I had coffee before I started my workout and wasted a bit of time on the computer also; hopefully skipping those two things will add some slack to the schedule as well. This is what we do now 💪.

                  Also made more of my utilitarian veggie slop last night so my meal prepping is mostly set for the next two weeks roughly. Been having poor diet for a couple weeks and need to avoid that.

                  Dreams from yesterday afternoon:
                  I was in a restaurant-like environment with my family that was spider themed. There were spider themed activities and rewards as part of the experience. In order to win a spider themed veil (it was a face mask with a spider image on it) we had to put roughly 20 fish hooks into our fingers. One of the other activities was a 2nd floor walk through that seemed a bit like a horror house but without explicitly being scary.



                  Developing unity application front and back end in different languages. "Selecting" [???] and troubleshooting. [work dream]



                  Playing games with familiar to pass time while waiting to leave a mall. "McNabe mitts" [???] I remember catching balls using baseball mitts and noted something about it was like rock, scissor, paper plus catch combined.



                  I was in David Dobrik's mansion and the late Chris Cornell from Soundgarden was there. We were trying to fill the mansion with people as part of a video prank. I was near the front of the group and got pushed through several floors and rooms. At one point I stepped in a pile of pins and had to pull them out from my sock while someone recorded a tiktok of my foot. We filled a hollow transparent figurine with oil and glitter spilling a lot of oil on the floor. I started to worry that it wasn't safe being on the upper floors with the house literally packed with people.



                  Dreams from last night:
                  Planning a party at my old college. I had a mailbox where I stored some party supplies but couldn't find the key. People at the library (former coworkers from after college) were able to get me my key which I had forgotten to grab. Once I had the key I couldn't find the supplies which might have been in my dorm room.



                  Possibly triggering war dream:
                  Fighting in Iraq and was watching for suicide bombers that were tossing bombs at us that looked like stacks of mail. After a perceived victory we were posing for a photo with a large group that included the pope. During the photo more bombers appeared and I had to run at full speed to escape the mail-like bombs being thrown. I was frantically searching for my gun. I jumped over a cliff to avoid shrapnel and clung to the edge for a minute or so but was too afraid to look down. Another soldier helped me up and I woke up.




                  My parent's neighbors were building a new house and we were looking at the back patio area. They had created sound proofing by installing arrays of pvc pipes around the foundation and we were discussing adding more pvc pipe arrays on the other walls.

                      I have not been in the military; that dream was directly influenced by a video I watched about a journalist trapped with Iraqi forces during an attack. Definitely need to be careful about the media I consume. I think most of my other military dreams have come from video games (that I've been playing less frequently) and listening to Goggins' book repeatedly.

                          Mon Dec 7

                          - Post run stretching

                          Nice morning run with the sun coming up. Temps were 25F which is possibly my coldest run yet and I wore a new under layer I picked up for it. Gear was undershirt, under layer (long sleeve), wicking short sleeve top layer, leggings, shorts, thin hat, running gloves, and a scarf. Felt cold right out the gate but was plenty warm by the end. Not sure the gear would hold up in much colder but I'll have to see as winter progresses. Maybe next step is a wind layer on top. Didn't notice any wheezing.

                          Today's my first early exercise day before work and still on schedule which is nice.

                          Dreams last night:
                          Harvesting squash on a farm. Later I was at an art event/festival with mini projectors on signs. A former housemate and acquaintance invite me to coffee. The former housemate is rubbing lotion into my upper arm.



                          My late grandmother was picking me up after high school and was mad that I was very late. I told her to call first instead of coming in or waiting.



                          At a gas station trying to get cream in my coffee and the staff was unsympathetic and seemingly messing with me. The first time I went to get cream my small coffee disappeared and I had to order another one. After I ordered the second, the cream was gone and I had to go to the counter. I got the run around at the counter and when I went to look for another employee the gas station began closing which involved an entire garage style door blocking the counter. A staff member put out two empty cream cartons and I was flustered. A former partner was waiting in the car the whole dream and I had spent what felt like 30 minutes inside.



                          I was in the basement of a kid I grew up with collecting my belongings in preparation to leave. I also needed to change my clothing and remember someone entering the bathroom while I was changing (which wasn't too alarming but mildly annoying). Other people's belongings were getting mixed with mine and acquaintances from after college were in the mix now. Someone was singing Mia Doi Todd and her voice sounded so similar I was amazed.

                            Feeling pretty slow this morning. Spent a bit more time soaking in coffee than usual which was okay because today's not a run day. Don't want to get into bad habits so I made sure I stayed awake rather than trying to nap after waking up. Feel a bit guilty about only doing level 1 on push-up party but still feeling out of sorts a bit. Despite going to sleep a few minutes early I didn't have as many dreams as usual and my sleep tracking on my phone showed some weird behavior (might actually be a bug but not sure).

                            Otherwise doing well and have a short week this week (took Friday and next Monday off) so I'm looking forward to that soon.

                            Dreams last night:
                            I was vacationing on an island with my family and Bill Hader from SNL was there too. The island looked like it had been destroyed by a tsunami with damaged infrastructure and buildings. Had the feeling I'd been there when I was young before any damage.



                            At a firing range with my father and was going to fire an AK-47 but every time I was ready the time was up. There were kids and families at the range and it felt like a birthday party atmosphere.

                              Had a nice run this morning. Left around 07:15 which is basically my drop-dead time to make sure I have enough time to stretch and shower. Hopefully I'll get a bit quicker on the waking up, warming up, and pull-ups or sit-ups (depending on the day). Minor wheezing in the first mile of the run.

                              Temps were around 24F and I brought a long sleeve top layer (over undershirt and long sleeve under layer) and felt more comfortable throughout (though sweat a bit more by the end).

                              Dreams were really vague last night and not sure why; work is a bit stressful so might be more restless than usual.

                                Nice run this morning. I've been ever so slightly cheating my bed time and it feels like it's added up. Had a bloody nose in the middle of the night last night which also caused me to lose a few minutes. I think I need to plan for 30-60 more minutes of sleep than I have scheduled currently (and run my humidifier consistently now that the baseboard heat is on). Feeling tired this morning led me to start my run after 07:15 which was just barely okay because it was a shorter run but definitely not desirable. I definitely feel way better on a schedule even though I've been a little tired and think I'll still see improvement in my energy levels through next week as I stay on track.

                                I've been using this tool lately to calculate my running route distance more accurately (and find some new paths). It's basically google maps with more precision and an interface optimized for planning running routes.

                                One perk of running in the morning is I saw 3 other runners today and got to wave which is the only (socially distanced) face-to-face social interaction I've had in a while.

                                Dreams last night:
                                I was visiting Joe Rogan's show which was on the top floor of a skyscraper in some city. There was an orca (killer whale) on the roof on a pedestal. The orca was fighting/eating giant salamanders. I was moving a dog to "pepper tower" [?].



                                After trying to leave a packed mall that I was wandering with no mask I was in a homeless city under a parking garage trying to get back to high school. In the homeless camp I climbed onto a tall bed (8+ feet high) to escape and had to tip it over to get over the outer wall. I felt bad for tipping someone's bed over but a few onlookers laughed and commended my creativity. I was later in a dump full of wrecked cars and found (already scratched) scratch off lottery tickets on the ground which I thought about double checking (though reading in dreams doesn't really ever work). I regretted being around so many people without a mask and put it on after I was outside. [Was glad it was just a dream when I woke up]
