Thank you for sharing the cooking channels - I'm rather new to FoodTube, although I like cooking and absorb information very well from videos. This will be a new thing to blow my husband's mind, because he's convinced that cooking can only be learned using traditional cook books

I'd like to once again recommend the book that blows my mind, as I feel it might have some useful information for you.

Sounds like your doing great despite feeling so low! You did exercise though, so maybe it's okay to do 'just' 3 sets? It were 3 full sets nonetheless! What helped me often was to write down positive things about what I did, or what I saw or experienced, and look at it and see that I actually was doing things good too, even though I only felt the failures. (just like you said: "which I'd completely forgotten about in my melancholy reverie")
What makes you feel like you're stuck? What's holding you back?
You already set great steps, so keep it up! You'll get there!

Ditto this. It helps to see others’ views and feelings. The Hive is such an awesome place for support!

You're a WIP: Work In Progress...but we all are. Just different work and different progress.

I second Mamatigerj. You might not feel wise, but I certainly feel like you spread wisdom through your posts.

I really relate to your struggles and sometimes have to rely on my friends to help me see how far I've come. It sounds like you've come a very long way, are self aware, and continue to improve. That being said, this pandemic can suck a tiger skin egg =P

Hugs for everything. If it helps, I try to remind myself that it's impossible to respond perfectly to everything all of the time. We're human, life is hard even in the good times and being an "adult" is a daft concept because everybody's just making it up as they go along. I hope you've had things to make you smile today

Thank you all so much, I am really grateful for the support, and it is genuinely helpful and useful .

Still lots going on mentally, but hopefully I can get somewhere with this in the next few days. I have a short holiday coming up from Thursday, which I hope will be useful.

Last night I did: Express Tone Day 11 (hammer curls, upright rows, shoulder press, bent over rows), and really enjoyed it until I DID MY EFFING BACK IN!

                    Aarrgghh.

It's not serious, just a muscle spasm or pull I think brought on by twisting - bad form I guess - while doing hammer curls.

It's very unlikely I'll be able to do anything other than rehabby stuff for the next few days. My partner is good at this and has given me a list of exercises to do today. I can't see a HIIT workout this evening being do-able.

                    On we go. x

I read your previous post, and a lot of it hit me: the parts with the addiction in particular. I've struggled with drinking too, and I wish people had told me that life isn't just sunshine and rainbows after getting clean and sober.

No advice, but also no judgement. Glad to see you're moving forward.

Thank you, GentleOx - that's a kind and gentle thought!

And thank you, sleep_twitch - I've ordered the book you recommended and it should arrive tomorrow, when it will go in the Big Pile of Books that I Can't Get Around to Because my Social Media Use has Destroyed my Attention Span. Or maybe it'll get read! My partner is interested too.

More healing vibes from me and maybe start with a fiction book. They usually catch one's attention better 📚

I doubt this would help with your digital addiction. But, I had to start reading again, WANTed to start reading again, and my attention span was ruined also, I think by digital media. I kept falling asleep when I would try to read. So, I started reading while on the elliptical trainer. The problem is that a REAL BOOK (which I much prefer) won’t stay on it. So, I’d have to get the Kindle version and read it on my phone. But, once I did that, and stuck to ONLY reading while on the elliptical, I was able to zoom right through books! “Zoom” is relative, here, as I am a very slow reader. Anyway, it also keeps me from doing “other digital nonsense” while I am reading!
I sure hope you feel better soon!

I also struggle with falling asleep while reading, and I try to switch positions and locations often. I fall asleep more easily when I'm in my bed, for example, than sitting at the kitchen table.
