Of Birds, Cats, & Journeys Worth Taking

    T I M E . T O . C H A N G E

Welcome, reader. Within these pages you will find my daily log and growth. I'm finished with being out of shape and eating things that aren't good for me. Despite being 30C today in my little town of Warrnambool, today is the day of starting. No more tomorrows!

    Find me on Strava

    A S . I T . S T A N D S . . . 24.12.18

    - 5'5" and 64.2k/141lbs, the heaviest I've ever weighed. Haven't reached overweight BMI, but I'm getting dangerously close at a fast pace. Not happy with my figure, carrying a lot of excess weight around my stomach.
    - Walking maybe once a week. Not enough exercise for me or BirdHound.
    - While I've cut out a lot of processed sugars, eating out, and packaged meals, still eating a lot of carbs that needs to be rebalanced.
    - Generally a very stressed/anxious person with a history of bad anxiety and panic attacks. Much better now, but I don't want them creeping back. Stress is also affecting my body - last eye exam showed a bubble of liquid in my good eye caused by stress, and I need to lower my stress levels or it can get worse and start taking my vision.

    G O A L S . . . 27.12.18

    - Lose the belly fat, lower my BMI levels back down. I'd like to reach 54.5k/120lbs, but understand muscle weight and don't mind if I'm heavier as long as I'm trim/toned.
    - Get pregnant. At the time of writing this on cycle nine of trying.
    - Exercise for at least 30m every day.
    - Build up to running 5k a few times a week.
    - No added sugar, natural sugar a-okay.
    - Few processed carbs, in particular cutting out breads, pastas, etc along those lines.
    - Limit eating out to once a month as a special treat with Mr BirdCat. ( Makes the above two easier )

Set off to start my running with BirdHound, planning on letting him off at a quiet field while I alternating running and walking around it. First time ever there was someone else there, so walked around slowly with her talking instead while the pups played.

    0.85km / 7:50m / 9:10k / 30C Sunny
As soon as I got back from the earlier outing, Mr BirdCat called me up to see if I could help load something into the back of the car. Despite being tired, decided to try my best running down there to lend a hand (the heat is a killer!)

Had the last icecream in the house right before my yoga practice. Feeling ill from it now, a good lesson I suppose I needed to learn again. Not buying anymore as my self control if it's in the house isn't great yet. Goodbye treats!

Really great day so far, feel like a new me. Generally when it gets past 25C my poor Canadian body melts, but by pushing through it and hydrating lots throughout the day I'm not feeling it as much as normal.

Walk down to the river with Mr BirdCat and BirdHound so the pup could have a swim. Usually we'd walk right back home, but decided instead to explore a bit and find a different way. Drooled over other people's backyards, were bothered by flies, and all around had a really nice time.

Done, no EC - Couldn't lift my legs to 90 degrees, and really struggled/slowed (so not exactly all at once) - going to say no EC for me on this one.

Muscles definitely feeling yesterday's journey, but still able to get through everything for today. Looking forward to properly jumping into the C25K program for running tomorrow (Using the Zombies Run 5K app, starting in week two as I've already listened to the first few a couple of times over already...). My body feels exhausted but..a happy exhausted

Took BirdHound to the cricket field so I could run laps around it. While I was mid run going across the concrete covered fake stretch of grass for the cricket, BirdHound decided to run full pelt into the back of my legs I went sprawling, left bits of me there, and took bloodied knees and legs home. Finished the run, but once I got home and the adrenaline left definitely feeling the pain. No yoga or ab challenges for my legs today.

Woke up feeling pretty cranky and head aching, which I reckon is sugar withdrawals seeing as that's really unusual for me. Decided to go for my run anyway, and really happy I did, as well as happy I pushed through it after the fall, so I'm not on a slippery slope of giving up when I simply don't feel like doing things.

Updated the main post to be a bit better of a schedule so that I'm not burning myself out by spending a ton of time exercising every day. Pacing myself. Today, however, is an all around rest day. 31C, and legs still stinging from the fall yesterday. Happy I could finished the Daily Dare, and still going to do the water portion of the challenge!

Welcome! Keep going no matter how hard it is. It gets easier in time. My wife and I were just talking yesterday about how when we started we would do just a few squats and wanted to quit. Now, we can crank them out no problem!!

Checking in as much as I don't want to today...I promised myself I would every day, so here I am! If nothing else, this will be good to look back on and see how far I've come once I'm fit and trim
Due to nasty infections and the like didn't end up doing a single thing today...hoping that by letting my body rest I won't be away from workouts and a healthy me longer than I need to be!

Still not feeling 100%, but refuse to let the week get by without at least one more bit of exercise, especially with how the last few days have been! Feel really great to be moving again

                          W E E K . R E V I E W

Started off strong, but wasn't long before my body protested in one way or another -- the fall while running was really bad, and came with nasty infections that I've had to fight off. As much as I can be disappointed about how the week went, it's all the more important that I keep moving forward and don't let it get to me. So many times I've started something, let it drop a tiny bit somewhere, and all of a sudden drop the whole thing. This is a journey I need to keep moving in, though, no matter what setbacks appear. Looking forward to what next week has to bring!

Spent a good deal of time walking and on my feet today, busy busy! Pretty happy with the weight difference between last week and this week, attributing it to cutting right down on added sugars and processed carbs.
