        The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse
        Genre: Mystery Thriller
        Rating: 2/5 stars

Spooky Book Club pick July 2021

She closes her eyes and hears echoed threats.

'Only babies tell, and you're a baby.'

'Tell tell tit, your tongue will split.'

        Her head is throbbing.

'Do that again and I'll kill you.'
Please, someone give me back the lifetime that I wasted reading this book! I know we have to be gentle with first time authors, but this was just complete bullsh*t. She tried to pack too many things into one story (PTSD, the investigation of a murder series, difficult sibling dynamics, the main character's past, blahblahblah). The ending was unexpected, but in a really bad way. Finished only because of book club, would not recommend to anyone.

I love it too! The idea is awesome 😊 today I did the first challenge, that was less fun, no story, only walking, and a few comments.

Ugh! I hate wasting time on a lousy book!

I hate that too! Especially when the cover blurb is raising such expectations, and then it's a real let down. I recently had that with "Three women". Do not recommend!

I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid
                    BookTube recommendation (Noelle Gallagher)
                    Genre: Horror
                    Rating: 4/5 stars

I’m thinking of ending things. Once this thought arrives, it stays. It sticks. It lingers. It’s always there. Always.

Jake once said, “Sometimes a thought is closer to truth, to reality, than an action. You can say anything, you can do anything, but you can’t fake a thought.”

And here’s what I’m thinking: I don’t want to be here.
After so much YA horror, it was time for the real deal, and my favorite obsession: Weird, disturbing, unsettling adult horror. This one was really awesome. If you need to stay awake for a couple of nights, the audiobook will probably do the trick.
