    First Day, First Struggle

Three years ago, I broke my foot during a 5k free run... (I tried to surf mud and only one foot wanted to join me... the other one stayed behind) after that, everything that could go wrong with my body did. 300lbs later, my body finally gives me a break from a series of unknown "chronic" conditions "brought on by my weight and depression" according to my PCP. 30lbs later, I'm on day one of doing actual workouts again. Walking makes my body swell up like a balloon... I'm told it's because of my size. So, I'm forced to reduce my walking. I'm hoping the yoga will compensate for my lack of mobility while I attempt to scale another wall of unknown "chronic" conditions... Hopefully, this time, without the excess weight gain.

I like to warn people who have been in contact with me that I don't have a filter... I don't curse, and I try not to be obscene. But if I get offensive, please, let me know. It's just something that I feel I should put out here ahead of time. I'm just simply socially awkward and forget myself sometimes...

        Day 2, Taking it easy...
Today, I decided to replace my regular yoga exercises with a simple lakeside stroll with my son. We sat and watched the ducks during a picnic. Then, we walked and talked. It's not always easy to put my fitness goals and quality time with my children together. But today, it just seemed "right". So, what's on my dinner menu? PIZZAS!!! There's a lot of satisfaction to be had in making your own pizza... You get to pick what's in your crust, your sauce is always freshly made, and you don't have to settle for a specific set of toppings... The options are as limited as your imagination! My favorite loaded combo: colorful bell peppers, red onions, baby spinach, mushrooms, sliced roma tomatoes, and crumble feta!
Final report: Nothing beats getting outside and doing something worthwhile. You'll never know just how significant the small and simple things in your life are until you can't do them anymore.

UPDATE: After dinner, I did the June 7th workout for the day and took a walk to the local market... I walked about 1.5-2hrs... Didn't count steps or miles... Feet and fingers are swollen, as I knew they would be. So, I'm on ice for the night. Tomorrow's breakfast: Caprese salad on butter lettuce!

            Day 3, Cardio...
I took a walk to the track and ran a lap this morning. It's 1/4 mile. The walk was about 1.25hr Not much to some, but a lot to me. There was once a time when I couldn't even make it to my mailbox! Tonight's Movie Madness night at my house. That means we get to have a DANCE-OFF! It's our one day a week that we eat "fun food" for dinner... Gotta work for it! HAHA!

                Day 4, Interrupted...
Today was dedicated to soothing heartache and tears. Some things are more important than exercising the body... Exercising the heart. The day's not over yet, but I'm so thoroughly exhausted. I guess, I'll get back on the bandwagon Monday. This weekend is not going to happen.

Day 6, Getting back into it
So... This weekend was... an eventful uneventful one? Today's Goal, just a quick set of "Everyday Yoga" and a walk to market.
I wish I could say that today started on the right foot, but it started with somebody throwing a heavy object on somebody else's foot instead... I'll be lucky to steal the time it takes to complete my walk before being called back by a disaster today... It's just one of "those" days. C'est la vie...

Update from Saturday: The kitten has been found, tears were dried, celebration ensued, and my responsible pet own is back to scrubbing kitten poop out of my carpet... At least he's happy, right?

Today, I'm supposed to run, but the weather tells my lungs that if I do, I risk pneumonia... So, I'm just gonna play with my yoga ball instead.

UPDATE: Did some yoga and explored a store I'd never been to before... Great way to get in some steps when you can't go outside for long periods of time.

Today, no running, but I got in some yoga, and we held a family circus at the doctor's office... Balloon animals - I make amazing surgical glove chickens - , spinning stool stunts, paper napkin circus hats, and balloon chicken juggling! We competed in breathing and who can hold their yoga pose the longest during wait times, and we followed with a trip to the pet store, where the kids counted how many times I could curl cat litter while they curled canned cat food... Needless to say, I lost... Though, in my defense, you can never trust a bunny to judge a competition fairly... It will always choose the child. HAHA! I may not be the best, but I got the best kids. Funny how that turned out...

UPDATE: Managed to get some extra yoga stretches in right before bed. Despite how tired I am from today's errands, I have more energy now than I've had in months.
