    Something Else...

I should probably do after almost 3200 posts in my previous thread. I haven't worked out yet for the day, but I will be fairly soon, with what is likely to be about half an hour on the elliptical and then weights day. I decided it was better to start the new thread before a workout post to give at least a few people time to switch to the new one, because I'm nice like that. Also, some measure of good news: I have another trip to Vegas coming next month. Fourth time's a charm, right? Right? >.>

The first three were practice, right?

Weights day. In addition, I spent about 30 minutes on the elliptical. I'm considering increasing the time slowly as it goes on, to give my body a change, since an increase in tempo isn't going to happen. Thoughts from the runners who check out my thread?

Bent Over Rows (40 pound dumbbells)
      7/6/6

      Pullovers (20 pound dumbbells)
      7/6/6

      Shrugs (50 pound dumbbells)
      7/6/6

Mod Hammer Curls (25 pound dumbbells)
      7/6/6

      Decline Press (75 pounds, machine)
      7/6/6

      Preacher Curls (50 pounds, machine)
      7/6/6

      Farmer's Carry (50 pound dumbbells)
      One minute.

Also, the 20 pound dumbbells were being used for most of my regimen, so I swapped up the hammer curls and moved the pullovers to directly before the farmer's carry. Lastly, I'm starting to actually notice a bit of bulk in my arms. Nothing spectacular, but certainly more than I'm used to.

The only way to ever progress in something is to move forward at an acceptable rate for you. If that means you add 2 minutes for a few sessions and then add a minute again for a few and keep going then that's good. That's all you got to do. No science to it. Your body will tell you when you have had enough.

Do you feel stronger in your arms? Like you can start walking around like the hulk looking for things to hulk smash? If your not, you need to start

I'm not going to tell you how to live your life tho.

        Seriously... Hulk smash.

To be honest, I've wandered around like that off and on for my entire life.

Good luck in Vegas (when is it?)! With the running you could go one of two ways. You could either up the resistance (assuming the machine can do that) and aim for the same pace or you can slow up the time/distance while keeping the same pace. Both work well in this situation and I wouldn't worry about pushing harder/faster on a machine, go with what is comfortable. If you really feel the need to go fast get off the machine so your body mechanics can work properly.

The big issue with ellipticals is they keep your stride length the same so the only way to go faster is turnover which isn't the whole picture of running so stick with your comfortable pace and just adjust time/distance/resistance.

Oh, yeah... Third week of June. And I'm driving again, as opposed to flying, but you'll be out of the country by then, won't you?

Yeah, I wasn't too pleased with how my stride felt when I tried to speed up a bit a few days ago. I think I like the the plan to just slowly increase the time, then. I could probably increase the resistance, but that would require me to actually push buttons and act like I know what I'm doing with the machine.

Active rest day. The Daily Dare actually synced up with my schedule so 80 side leg raises with EC complete, for a total of 91/89. I know I'm getting close, but I really have to be in the right frame of mind to actually do them and they have to be something I can do. Other than, it was Lower Body Works. I may go hit the elliptical with my flatmate later, but I either won't report it or will put it on tomorrow's, depending on whether I remember to.

Weights day. No elliptical yesterday or today because there's a super-tight band of muscle in my left calf that I've only managed to partially work out.

Lots of stuff today, but nothing particularly hard on its own. I started with three Daily Dares: 20 back extensions, 40 side bridges, and the 60 second bicep flex hold, all with EC, giving me a total of 94/92. I went through yesterday, after talking about needing to be both in the right frame of mind and the exercise being something I can get, and grabbed enough that I should make the 100 with EC laurels by the end of the week if I do a few a day. A little later I did Abs Crunch at level 1 for Abs Roulette and Back & Core Day 1. Finally, I finished off with nine by two, one by one push-ups. Looking at that list, it looks like so, so much more than I actually did. Tomorrow, weights again and Back & Core Day 2.

More Daily Dares today on top of my standard workout. I ticked the 30 crunch kick, 50 back leg kick, and 40 split lunge DD's with EC, giving me 97/95. I'm planning on doing elliptical work tomorrow unless something acts up again like my calf did late last week. The plan is going to be Monday, Wednesday, Friday except the Vegas trip and any unforeseen difficulties.

                              Weights day.

Bent Over Rows (40 pound dumbbells)
                              7/7/7

                              Pullovers (20 pound dumbbells)
                              7/7/7

                              Shrugs (50 pound dumbbells)
                              7/7/7

Mod Hammer Curls (25 pound dumbbells)
                              7/7/7

                              Decline Press (75 pounds, machine)
                              7/7/7

                              Preacher Curls (50 pounds, machine)
                              7/7/7

                              Farmer's Carry (50 pound dumbbells)
                              One minute.

I finished with Back & Core, Day 2. I'm not all that keen on the yoga tomorrow, but it's whatever. There's only three days of it and they're all exactly the same.

Also, just in case it isn't or hasn't been clear, the listed dumbbell weights are per dumbbell*, while the machine weights are the total weight for the exercise.

*All listed exercises require two dumbbells, which is why dumbbells is plural in each of the exercises listed.
