    Yoga/recovery day
there is a Hot Yoga studio up the street from my apt, so, on a whim last night I registered for a 90min class as a "rest" day. Idk if it was restful, but I liked it. Altho by the end I was spending extra time in Savasana. (They do each pose twice w Savasana between before moving to the next... I just stayed in Savasana and skipped 2nd.) I am now drinking cold tomato/red pepper soup from a mug bc I feel like my electrolytes are wonkey, since I inhaled 500ml of water in class and another liter after. I think I will add this once a month* but I will bring electrolyte tablets, lol.
Will double up on challange tommorrow

*I would like to do it more but, it is 25$/class. There are packages of more classes that are cheaper per class...but they expire, you have to use like 4-5 a month. That is not actually cheaper lol. I need to keep fittness budget under 2k a year and I am pushing that already... once a month is all I can do. (25/month gym. 15/month bike share. 100/2 or 3 times a year/sneakers (unfortunately the shoe Ive found that works for everything I do is a merril). 40/2-3 a year/the only stupid leggings I will reliably wear (I tried to buy cheaper..found nothing I liked the fit of). 70/1-2 a year/sport bras bc I am a hard to find on bargian rack size ratio. 12-15/too many a year/fun tshirts. Socks. No bootcamp classes now bc trainer moved but maybe 90$/6-8 times a year if I want to check in w her in her new home.)

I like yoga but I think hot yoga would make me sick. I hope you can get a good deal on the class.

CODawn there is another place near me that does un-hot yoga cheaper but.... their beginner class is too easy to be worth a class fee for me (I can use a vid/app...) and their advanced is too hard. Meh! Will prolly just go once a month or so.

        Active rest
Action Hero 20 (will do all high knees tomorrow)
Going on an urban hike/bikeshare ride... details later.

'rin, I hope you find yoga that works. I am still doing very light yoga but I love it.

What have you tried for leggings? I've got a couple standbys I get on Amazon for ~15-20. Let me know if you want links.

I tried... old Navy( 3 of their fits), clearance things I found at work (under armor, I think), lulufuckinglemon (i had a coupon) which got retutned bc SEE THRU, and some crap that was linked on my fb - donuts and deadlifts I think - that claimed to be squat proof. All either fell apart, were see thru, or I spent half my workout time hiking up my pants.

I will take some links for the next time I am adventureous K e l l y but..... until then I will stick w stupid Salar leggings from fabletics /sigh

So, inaugural walk of the season. Made plans to meet one of the college roommates for lunch so that I would keep the length of the walk reasonable and to have a reason that I had not invited my sometime hiking partner if he asked. Wanted to do first walk alone to get my hiking strategy back on point, as I end up 'managing' both of us and if *I* get out of sorts it just ends with us both being whiny bitches (there may of been a walk where I had to ask him "if you don't get up off the sidewalk and I just get on a bike and leave you, do I find your ex on social media ?or your daughter? to make sure someone comes to fetch you?" bc he did not listen to me about water/sports drinks and had a total melt down (literally, it was pretty hot that day, which had a lot to do with it I"m sure)).

Managed over 17 miles (35k steps) + 5 miles on a bikeshare bike. Went through the park/around the resovoir and out the other side, all the way downtown on bike, got a bit screwed up but went out the manhattan bridge and back in the brooklyn bridge, met friend, then went back out the brooklyn bridge for a cupcake and coffee and got on subway there to get home. Pics on instagram, it was a lovely day.

Relearned (because why the hell would I remember from last year?)
*Put water in outside pocket of bag. If I have to stop and take my pack off my back instead of just reaching around to drink I will wait until I am in a fucking electrolyte crisis. Idk why, but water IN my bag may as well be in siberia for all the effort I feel like it would be to get it.
*Organize your shit the night before. So you are not running at the last min without your fucking baseball cap or sunscreen in the bag (thank goodness I at least put some on before leaving the house.... so I will be slightly pink instead of total lobster girl tomorrow.)
*If your shoes/socks are bothering you STOP AND FIX THEM. My sock slipped down so my heel was exposed to my shoe... which ofc meant that my shoe ate my heel. Which I did not deal with until hours later after it turned to a blister then the blister broke and my shoe rubbed the raw under blister skin so badly it was bleeding. I had other socks, anti blister stick thing, and bandaids in my bag......
*If it is at all crisp out and you will even think about riding a bike BRING FUCKING GLOVES. My poor hands, especially since I went 2 miles further then I wanted to bc all the bike docks were full.

But, I also learned both the location of a bakeshop near one of my favorite coffee stops... and that their cupcakes are good but not outstanding (and thankfully not gigantic). I was on a quest for a cupcake for the 2nd part of the day, but gave myself rules - 1. no google/google maps asking 2. no going to a bakery you have gone to before. 3. no getting some other random sweet thing if you fail to find cupcakes. I walked 3-4 blocks out of my way in brooklyn going down likely looking side streets and SCORE! LOL. Altho, if you are in NYC and want a GREAT cupcake simply go here, trust me, you will not be disappointed... they even have minis if you cannot decide which flavor (highly recc the peanutbuter chocolate tho).... if you do not want to stray out of tourist neighborhoods go to the dining section of the basement of grand central and get a very good one from Magnolia instead.

Honestly, I've gotten super out of the habit of longer walks, but this sounds like a wonderful day.

What an awesome day, keep it up!

And the stuff you've relearned from last year are some valuable lessons for everyone, I think I'd do some of the same mistakes...

To add to yesterday's water lesson, drink earlier so as to not fucking carry so much weight all day (3 liters) and use the chest strap on the bag to help ballance the damn thing. My poor lower back is not sore but... tender? So I was a bit conservative/careful today.

And today I got a bee in my bonnet about being sick of totals and decided to obliterate myself.

Totals 27, hands on 24in box for pushups - some were still not full rom but, 80 is a fucking lot for my level of lack of upper body strength so whatever. (Not saying I am not tough, but, not strong.)

Then, altho I looked like I had jumped in a pool in my clothing I felt somehow like I wanted to do something more... cured myself of that right quick w 1 more 4x50 steps carry, 24kg bells in each hand.

Currently at Starbucks inhaling some fruit/cheese tray to get the energy to walk home.
