Megan's Journey Back to Before and Beyond

I just recently restarted my fitness journey, actually a week before New Year's, and I'm glad I've stumbled upon this website. I think this is the ultimate place for me to get into the best shape I've ever been in. I miss the feeling of being strong, and although I do love myself, I'm tired of being fat. The key to my success, I know now, is to start small and celebrate every piece of progress. The moment I take a step back is not the time to quit, not the time to make things more complicated and create more rules, but instead is the time to be kind to myself and gently get back on track. The more I focus on treating myself well, the farther I'll get in whatever I choose to do.

Today I will begin the Foundation Program, so as to start this all out properly and with purpose. I'll check in post-workout.

Good luck! Don't push yourself too hard in the beginning, first make sure that it's sustainable and a bit fun
    Also, welcome to the Hive!

Thanks guys! I've been on a streak of 15 days and I've started very small, just ten minutes a day, adding in a walk here and there. I finished the Foundations Day 1 and ended up doing all 7 sets! I'm really impressed so far with this website, and I plan to stick around for the long haul

Just finished Foundation Day 2 - ended up doing 6 sets which came out to about 15 minutes. I'm wiped, but in a good way, since I gave it my 100%! It was just challenging enough that I feel like I accomplished something awesome. Can't wait for Day 3!

Foundation Day 3 was this morning and I liked it. I can tell how carefully these programs are put together every time I do one. This workout was the perfect follow up to Day 2 because I was sore, but it didn't affect my movements for this. Anyway, my big victory was waking up with enough time to work out, shower, and get ready, which has always been hard for me. I'm really good at waking up at the very last possible moment to barely get to work on time... Second victory was finishing all seven sets and feeling awesome post-workout!

great goals megs17. I think a lot of people get started and get so excited they put a lot of pressure on themselves, and then get very discouraged and quit when their over-ambitious goals are too much. (That's what i did at one point last year.) enjoy foundation!

Thanks madeline for the support! I'm really happy to have found this community

Day 4 was stretching, which I definitely needed! I also got my foam roller in the mail yesterday and tried it out for the first time. Worked wonders for my lower back right away, so I'll do a little more of that tonight. I'm about to go take my evening stroll (just around the block) and then to bed with me! Gotta wake up bright and early for Day 5

Your introductory post sounded like me (except I'm just a bit older than you! It certainly is a brilliant system and has got me doing strength training regularly - I never stuck at anything before.

noname thank you for the encouragement!

rawcookie I was reading your training log yesterday and I am inspired by you! I'm honored that you came over to my page to say hello I hope I can have half the sticktuitiveness that you do someday.

As for my training today...I woke up too late to do it before work, partly because I had been up all night coughing, and partly because I kept snoozing my alarms and just not getting out of bed. That's something I won't be doing tomorrow morning. Nonetheless, I just finished up Day 5 and will shortly be taking my evening walk. This cardio workout didn't even have me sweating, and I did all seven sets. I might have to add a challenge or a second workout to my days - any suggestions for a good companion to Foundation? I don't want anything too long or too difficult, but something for a non-beginner coming back to exercise after a loooooong hiatus. Thanks everyone!

Try looking at Daily Dares for something a bit different.

Today was a good day. Started off with Day 6, which was flutter kicks. Did 60, then a 10 second pause, then another 20, 10 second pause, then another 20 for a total of 100! Since it wasn't really a hard workout, but I was out of time, I decided to do a stand-alone workout in the evening. I've just completed all five sets of the Everything is Connected Holistic Workout, and it may have kicked my butt a little. I went for a cool down walk right after, which was great, too. I hit 9.000+ steps today, thanks to hitting the mall and going in the complete wrong direction when our destination was around the corner from where we started out.

I feel like a bit of a boss after that workout, so I'm going to do the rest of my evening routine and hit the hay!
