First off, congrats on the Blue Belt!
Second, sorry you had Covid, and so badly. Glad to hear, though, that your boy wasn't so affected.
Third, go and get your ass handed to you. That's how you learn. My GM says you're never ready to do anything until you sign on the dotted line. I did my first competition after only 8 training sessions in competition sparring. Okay, I got my arm broken, but hey, I learnt how not to block!

Thanks so much! Still feels a little odd honestly, but it's still exciting too! Progress not perfection, right?

So very glad to be coming the other side of it!

After 8 sessions made me go "whoa" and broken anything is certainly a concern at the next belt level Dang, dude!!

I think I am gonna do it, but it's gonna depend if I can get a set training schedule at classes between now and say the middle of March. Plus, I need to have some conversations with my coaches about their thoughts and if all, or any, will have select time to work with me on specific holes. At blue belt level more moves become available and my biggest concern is missing a wrist lock and getting a broken wrist. That is super common with the higher belt ladies - they are insane in the best kinda way I only have approximately 36 hours a week without my son so it makes for limited training time in general and because of his level care needed I can't just ask anyone to watch him. A few variables to work through, but it's not until the third week of April so I still got plenty of time to sort things out

                        Yesterday

Did 5 sets of Titan workout with approx 30 sec rest between each set. My left knee/hip is feeling a little twinge-y, I may have made it a bit angry at BJJ Monday evening playing around with some reverse half guard. Hopefully not though *fingers crossed*

Easy Arms Challenge Days 11, 12, 13, 14 ~ days 11 and 13 done with no rest, but days 12 and 14 down as stated.

Tore apart 1.5 skids and cleaned up more garden space and may be able to turn it over in 4 weeks or so if the temps continue staying warm and get warmer!

                        ~ 10 min yoga

                        Today

~ did North Star daily workout on 7 sets with no rest between sets. Also, doubled all reps for all exercises.

~ went directly into solo jits drills for 10 minutes and then did 5-6 minutes of pummeling + arm drag drills with the kiddo

Easy Arms Challenge Days 15 + 16 ~ 15 done in one go + 16 done as stated

Tore apart two more skids before the kiddo got home, helped a neighbour get their car unstuck from the crazy snowbanks here, and played with the dog a ton today ~ she is so pooped that she is snoring at the moment and it's only coming up on 7:30pm

                        ~ 17 min yoga flow

5 sets of Arm Day daily workout

Mini Banded + Lower Body Workout / rotated sets so no rest until everything was finished / 4 sets
                              12 front raises + 12 lat raises / 30lb band
10 fire hydrants each side + 10 bent leg kickbacks each side / 5lb ankle weights
                              15 shoulder squeeze / 60lb band
15 straight leg kickbacks each side + 15 side leg exts each side / no weights this time
                              18 bent over fly's / 30lb band
~ We got a Quest 2 VR in January - this thing is super fun - and this was only my second time doing a short HIIT exercise program on it. The first time I did it, it wrecked my legs for 4 days
I tried it again today and I feel rather confident that suck a scenario is gonna happen again...

The "class" is only 12 minutes long and it's only 5 to 15sec rest between rounds and since I knew the general groove of it I went way harder than my first time through it. First time I did I finished 5th out of 8 and this time I held the number one spot for almost the entire time and just barely missed 1st by the end of the last round. Also, ended up having a horrible, blood tasting, coughing fit immediately at the end and the coughing lingered for the rest of the day. Lingering effects of Covid hanging on tight it seems. I think I am going to shoot to do this "class" once a week with not only better physical state after it, but better score and less DOMs!

                                Today
Since my legs are incredibly sore today from the stupidly short HIIT session yesterday. Sooooooooooo, I actively avoided workout of the day for today (18th) that was all squats Just nope!

Knocked out Days 17 and 18 from Easy Arms Challenge and followed that up with the first three days of Daily Abs Challenge, but with an extra exercise tacked on to each day. I kind of like the three combo as a nice little core workout on it's own honestly. I may continue with that and just add 2 reps each day or something like that hmmmm....

                                Day 1 ~ 12 knee-ins + 12 cross crunches / 30 sec rest / 4 sets
                                Day 2 ~ 12 over knee crunches + 12 flutter kicks / 30 sec rest / 4 sets
                                Day 3 ~ 15 sec hollow hold + 12 bridge tap exts / 30sec rest / 4 sets

Mini Balance + Core Circuit / 4 sets
                                10 side kicks each side
10 balance kick backs each side
10 side leg raises each side
20 slow opp knee to elbow climbers
                                20 body saw
                                20 plank tilts

Indoor Run ~ 3.57 km / 20min 1 sec -- first run since the fall I believe and that felt SO.DANG.GOOD! Definitely not very fast anymore, but I loved every second of this and shockingly it didn't propel me into a coughing fit! Wahoo! I think I need to see if there are any new races in my area because I didn't realize how much I missed running!

~ 12min mobility flow but not followed by side spits since my legs are sore as he**

I gotta bunch of things to think about in terms of goals for my fitness that mesh well with BJJ and just day to day living. Jits is the most important thing to me as it affects more than just my physical wellbeing, but my mental state and some family dynamic as we all do it now. I need to make sure that I'm not only functional, but in a state to continue improving at it. Probably post some of my thoughts/ideas on that tomorrow as I would certainly appreciate others perspective on some of this stuffs.

                                G'Night Bees!
