we got stuck in traffic. Trin belongs to a BACA chapter in CoSpg, which is a 70-ish mile drive for us now. there was a car accident (looked ugly. sending prayers and love) and we were parked on the highway for 45 minutes. those beautiful people set aside plates of food for us and then waited almost 45 minutes past the end of the party for us. God bless and keep them all.

still working the planning muscle ... had a meeting downtown at OOOH:stupid early: 30 this morning. so i set my alarm for butt crack of the middle of the night to make sure i could get stuff done and get there. i got up on time, set myself up to meditate, at about 8 minutes in I shifted a little bit and then woke up about 20 minutes later. that nap was not part of the plan but with the amount of slack built in, i still had time to workout and get to my meeting on time. for the record, i have 2 meetings a week that are earlier than this one but those are Skype. it is the in-person aspect of this meeting that i'm actually whining about. getting up early enough to dress up & show up has me pretty tired this evening. i'm apparently out of practice when it comes to dressing for work and showing up.

so today I did (modified) Time Crunch Cardio (jacks in sets of 20 for Epic Tree), Daily Dare, Advent Calendar, Fit Christmas D7 & Epic Tree (350/2000). now i keep falling asleep at the keyboard so i'm going to bed.

          make yesterday jealous, bee-friends.

so i exercised the planning muscle but not the follow through muscle. i didn't manage to stick very close to the plan at all today at least not as far as the to-do list goes but i got a lot done. and that is prolly due to the fact that i had start and stop times for what i was doing. so some stuff didn't work out but other stuff did. and after a lifetime of flying by Ep seat of my pants, i'm not expecting to get it right the first week.

what did go right you ask? my workouts. yup. multiples today. in the morning, i did the Daily Dare, Advent Calendar and a modified Fit Christmas D8. modification was that jumping jack sets were 20 reps instead of 10 earning me 500 for my Epic Tree ornament. then i did another 150 jacks as my warm-up before working with Sara. Epic Tree count now at 1000/2000. we did dead bugs and armadillos, ball squats and 1 leg deads, chest press/fly combo, shoulder taps, and hand release push-ups. i need a lot of work on engaging my posterior chain. it didn't show up at all for the push-ups. also walked the dogs (1.49 mi).

i love Love LOVE the new smileys. aveoturbo as much as i love it, the is all yours. i'll have the and the ... if there was some grated cheddar and some hot house tomatoes for slicing, i'd have lunch!

                aveoturbo share the !! blasphemous!

so my workout this morning got shorted by an unexpected meeting. so my Fit Christmas D9 push-ups and my Epic ornament Jacks got stretched out through most of the morning. my warm-up was the Corrector, my work-out was Stand & Deliver, at L1, which gave me 180 Jacks. I also did 20 Dead Bugs for Advent Calendar. 5 sets of 10 push-ups gave me my Fit Christmas D9. most of my push-ups were hand release push-ups because i was focusing on engaging the posterior chain (so i'm asking: how tight are your glutes when you push-up?) and another 270 Jacks in sets of 50 or 60 got me another 500 for the Epic ornament (1500 / 2000)

i have DOMS but i can't quite pinpoint where so maybe it is everywhere. definitely from the push-ups yesterday and now more today. also in my shoulders.

i'm tired. its only 1 but i'm tired. not sleepy like take a nap but tight and drained and a little bit deflated. some of that is sort of detox from too much sugar again. (brought home cake and pie and candy from BACA party. we got loaded up on leftovers because we were last in and last out) i ended up throwing away a big chunk of cake. it was too much for me to eat and it was drying out. Mike and Trin were not helping me eat it because they are eating the Twizzlers. i am not eating those. not even 1. 1 leads to 2; 2 leads to 20. no Twizzlers.

we have a "Collective Disconnect" from Dec 24-Jan1 for the US employees. it's built in to our PTO schedule. i am looking forward to the time off. my plan is to use at least half a day in there to develop some clarity around what foods i want to eat more of and what i want to eat less off. i have a variety of things (personal development, training, side hustles, etc) that i need to build into my schedule. they are important to me but i seem to have misfiled them in my I'll-Get-To-It-Later list. and those things are not raising to the top of the got it done list right now.

so for now, i'll go do something to wake myself up a bit, get some work done and then go to Improv. tonight is our class show.

                  hihihi -

that was the most fun i've had at improv in a very long time.

today i got to work out with Sara! and yeah!! normal warm-up which is deadbug, armadillo, and hip bridge warm-up. and And AND !!! we've added unweighted Turkish Get-Ups!!! to the warm-up!! yeah Yeah YEAH!! so uneven between left and right sides. right arm up was all about getting the form down so that i can do them like a Russian. left arm up - holy pain points Bees!! its in the right glute and its not unexpected but it is definitely a very sharp indicator of the lack of flexibility on that side. (i had to move orthopedic appointment to January so another couple weeks before I get to talk about removing the plate in my ankle.) then i did goblet squats, rows & slams. then stretching.

i also did Daily Dare (no EC. i was about half done before i noticed that i wasn't in much of a squat. that made a big difference!!), Advent Calendar and 100 Jacks for Epic Ornament (1600/2000). and i walked the dogs.

job is still sucking. got the unofficial official word that the nice WFH project is not going to continue. now its just a matter of when. this is not the same as being unemployed. i'm a full-time employee of a consulting company that has lots of work for me. it just means another adjustment period for the next engagement. that's not my favorite part.

so very very true, xingyiquan. and to act on your advice (even if you forgot to say it out loud) i will spend some time today identifying what that perfect next engagement is. otherwise i will end up doing more compliance documentation and that is also not my favorite.

hello my friends. i am done with jumping jacks ... at least until next time. 2000 Jumping Jacks done. Epic Sword is mine! and the guard curves up and in like prongs; the flat of the blade is etched with the words Veritas (Truth), Fidem (Faith) and Animo (Courage). the pommel is pointed for back-handed thrusts. and the spelled blade demands blood when drawn from the scabbard.

so besides doing my last 400 jumping jacks, I also did Big Bang (modified for extra jumping jacks), Advent Calendar, Daily Dare, and Fit Christmas D10.

progressive observations: even just a year ago, i hated to do jumping jacks. they gave me headaches. 4 years ago it was from the bone spur inside my spinal column. the doctor said i also had a bulging disk but it wasn't bad enough for surgical intervention. that means that the headaches last year were from the bulge, psychosomatic or learned because of the spur, or weakness in my core. i have just done 2000 jumping jacks in 4 days with no headache. my ankle (achy) is complaining because of the plate but no headache!!

the Big Bang workout also had push-ups. push-ups have always been a weakness. the story i've been telling myself is that i don't have the upper body strength to (insert whatever). since Sara told me to tighten up my posterior chain when doing push-ups, i've noticed a lot of things. the weakness that slowed me down from doing what i thought was upper body stuff was actually core weakness from the backside. when you talk to me about core work, i have always previously thought about abs. and then obliques. it's a little more than that. my back is a little bit tired right now. just tired. not hurting. not sore. i'm just a little bit aware that i really don't want to do any more rows, or push-ups, and definitely not a good day to try a pull-up. no deads either, thank you. at least not until Monday. maybe Sunday if it wasn't my rest day but it is so i'll just walk the dogs on Sunday. the best realization from the plethora of push-ups done with my whole core engaged is that it has taken a lot of strain off my shoulders. previously any amount of push-ups would make my shoulders "clicky" after about 5 of them. HellYeah80 gave me a suggestion for some shoulder opening exercise that i've been doing and that's helped too (i keep a band at my desk and use it to stretch). today i did Fit Chrismas (Day 10 is all about the planks) push-ups, plank jumps and plank jacks and no clicky.

                        happy dance!!!

Thought about bringing small band to work. Currently bring my green band to wrap on leg extension machine, but you have an interesting (for me) idea...
