              First Thing Water
51km trail run (1200m elevation gain)
              30 minutes foam rolling/stretching

              That was awesome!
The weather was not ideal - humid, hot, and really windy. The first 14km was all climbing (in a head wind, which was tough). The weather improved a bit at 30km; it clouded over and the temperature dropped a bit (too late to save me from a sunburn). I also managed to get lost twice, twist my ankle once, and get swooped my magpies way too many times. The trail was really pretty - it followed a river most of the way and there were heaps of wildflowers out. I was a bit slower than expected, my legs were pretty fatigued early on so I ran/walked a lot of the way. Overall though, it was a great experience, and once races start up again (hopefully next year?) I'm keen to run an official ultra.

sounds harsh! Add in the ankle, maggies and directionally challenged moments and I'm even more impressed!
