                June Plans & Goals

                》EXERCISE
                ☆ continue
                100 Punches for 100 Days
I would like to do the June Punch Out Challenge as well, but I think I will save it to do after 100 Days. All punches will be dedicated to those fighting cancer.

☆ Pelvic Floor & Core Strengthening
I am working toward a daily routine with this; my goal for June is at least 4 days a week.

                ☆ redo Ironborn w/8lb dumbbells
Zastria asked how I liked this program: I loved it! I have wanted to workout with weights for a very long time, and I finally am! I used 5.5lb dumbbells the first time, because that was what I had. Today I purchased some 8lb dumbbells. I will be skipping the ab days (4, 8, 12, etc.), so I will do the program 6 days a week (Mon-Sat.)

                ☆ continue Power Up
This program is kicking my butt, which I am taking as a sign that I must really need it.

☆ Walk or Pool or Yoga or Belly Dance
Central Texas heat & humidity is here to stay for the next several months ~ugh! Also, my schedule is somewhat off right now. Since I only like to walk in the very early morning, go to the pool in the evening, do yoga or belly dance when I am home alone, these things will be done sporadically. My hope for June is to average 3 days a week.

☆ Daily Dares, Workouts of the Day, other Workouts, Push-Ups, and Squats
I will do these as I can and/or as needed to round things out.

                》OTHER
                ☆ Meditation

I am working toward a daily routine with this; my goal for June is at least 4 evenings a week.

                ☆ Food Log Every Day!
I did not lose any weight this past month*, which I know is due to poor diet management, so this needs to be a priority now that my exercise habit is somewhat established. (*At least i didn't gain any either.)

                ☆ Housecleaning/Decluttering
Keeping up is a big struggle for me, so even just a little every day; I am trying to build a habit.

                ☆ Studying
I will be teaching my daughter's senior class in a one day homeschool program next year, so I have quite a bit to prepare. My goal is 3-4 hours most days.

                ☆ Quilting
1 grandson quilt to finish and 2 granddaughter quilts to begin and complete. I am very much a novice, but I have a friend who is teaching me. My first step toward this goal, however, lies within the cleaning/decluttering goal as I need a space to work.

                ☆ Don't Neglect Husband
Because I am an extreme introvert, (and probably have ADD as well) my wonderful man often ends up ignored when I am focussing hard on my goals.

                  Ironborn w/8lb dumbbells; day 1
                  Power Up day 5
could not do 1st half (knee push-ups) as shown; attempted incline push-ups on the stairs as I have been doing and managed the first 30 seconds, but could not do the hold at all; moved on to 2nd half then did 10 more incline push-ups and called it done.

I spent a lot of day 5 power up resting in top position of knee pushups..and my bent hold was super barely bent. My plan is to do what I can, then keep repeating this program till I can do it all w out feeling tortured.

I am struggling too and I've only done a couple of days. I will probably repeat it also.

'rin & CODawn, that is my plan as well.

I hope it is not crass to say that it encourages me to know that both of you, who are younger and fitter than i, are finding this program challenging!

Not at all. Tendon workouts are HARD!

It was interesting to read your June plans and goals. Thanks for sharing and good luck!

Are you skipping the Ironborn ab days in order to not overtax your core since you're already doing a core program? Or are the Ironborn ab days particularly difficult and your waiting until your core is stronger before attempting those? Or something else? I'm curious about how various folks approach the programs.

Caesg, the primary reason is that I have a weak pelvic floor. (7 babies, and not doing anything about it until recently!) I also have a weak core, but the exercises on Ironborn's ab days (and a lot of traditional core work) can actually exacerbate the issue.

I have been researching which exercises are beneficial and which should be avoided. When I went through Ironborn the first time I stuck to the 4-day rotation of the program, but substituted pelvic-floor-friendly exercises on ab days. I used those days to sort of try out different things and find what I liked.

Now, I think that I should be doing this work more frequently than every 4th day in order to make any real progress. I hope this all makes sense.

I hear you on the heat! I tolerate it better than cold...when I'm not exercising. I've had to pull back a lot on my running and as it gets hotter I may drop it entirely in favor of other activities that aren't so hard in the summer. A pool sounds wonderful, though! And belly dance! I used to for a while and I was just thinking about getting back into it the other day, it's so fun!
