Far from a perfect result. (It turns out I cannot get all of my work done for the week in one day--go figure! ) Still: not a terrible start. And it was nice to have the time to really sink my teeth into my work instead of flitting from one thing to the next every 15 minutes.

My goals for the next week will remain the same:

          writing: 5 hours per week
French: 3 hours per week (Fluenz or other active use of my French skills--not just watching Netflix)
yoga teacher training: 5 hours per week
          artwork: 3 hours per week

workout: 5 hours per week (moderate to intense physical activity)
          yoga/dance: 3 hours per week
          running: 5 km per week
restorative: 90 minutes per week (includes meditation)

                    Talk to the Hand
                    Hand Tendons

Stuff in bold = my own choreography. On the Ball = work with an exercise ball. Yoganza = an extravaganze of yoga in which I attempt to take my mother through a well-rounded workout including cardio, strength, agility, flexibility, and restorative work all using yoga. We'll see how that goes! Push & Pull = work with resistance bands & dumbbells.

Today was our first day working with the exercise balls. It was meant to be a test to see which exercises my mother would be able to do. Some of the stuff I thought would be too hard for her she was actually able to do easily. Other stuff which I thought would have been accessible she refused to even try. Then she told me she thought we were going to be sitting on the balls. So I said, "Great! Let's sit on the balls then." But once she was actually sitting on her ball, she was too afraid of falling off it to try anything. So I spent a fair amount of time demonstrating that it was next to impossible to lose the ball doing what I was asking her to do (but that by trying really hard to NOT do what I instructed, as she was doing, it was actually possible to fall off it).

Will we survive 30 weeks of this program? Only time will tell!

Pretty much the same. The antibiotics cleared up her runny nose. So there's no more bloody snot. There is still blood though. Not a lot. A couple of drops one day. Maybe nothing the next. I don't think the amount of blood has changed. It's just that before it was being constantly washed out of her nose by the snot. Her breathing is restricted through one nostril. But it's fine through the other and through her mouth. Sometimes at night her breathing gets laboured if she's lying on the side of the unobstructed nostril. She hasn't figured out yet that flipping over so the clear nostril is on top will solve the problem. So I have to coax her to do this. Then she is fine.

During the daytime, Trudy is still happy as a clam. We're not always doing our full walks right now due to cold and wind (that's too much for me to handle being outside in for long--Trudy doesn't mind the cold!) and because we've got the sort of snow cover right now which tends to get stuck between Trudy's toes. (It melts in there and then re-freezes as ice and becomes uncomfortable after a while. I do have booties for her. But she thinks they're super weird, and doesn't like to wear them even in the house. So we've not even tried them outside.) Trudy has plenty of energy for full walks though. Today she was rolling around in the snow in our backyard like a puppy. Then she got me to play a chasing game with her. So long as she gets her Deramaxx (an anti-inflammatory) with her breakfast, she is fine all day.

She's finished the antibiotics now. So whatever good they were going to do is done. The bump on Trudy's forehead hasn't gone down any. So it's pretty clear this isn't just a sinus infection. But (most of the time, at least) Trudy doesn't seem to think anything is wrong. We're just enjoying life one day at a time.

CODawn Trudy does not understand what the fuss is about. But she says thank you for the hug, because she loves to hug people! She sends one back with a big wet sloppy Trudy kiss.
