Neat looking birds, I like the coloring.

You could do the “wall push ups” as KNEE pushups, since you’re already doing the knee push ups challenge as classic push ups....just a thoughtNo way in hell *I* woulda added another push up challenge to what you’re already doing. Have your mom do wall push ups instead of knees pushups on the challenge you already have started....

Also, the swallows!!! We have them here, swooping around our yard and over the lake for bugs. Little fighter planes, is what my husb calls them. We adore them. And it pains us when they whack into our SW facing picture windows and die on our deck. We’ve tried many things: clear hawk decals on the windows, vertical strings, now we have owl and hawk decoys mounted. Next will be Mylar streamers....

Aren't they just! The swallows were zipping around over the ponds when I was at the lagoons a couple of weeks back. It's hard to imagine how they ever secure enough sustenance when they work so hard just to catch it.

Yes, they are fancy birds--really beautiful, I think, if you can catch a shot of them sitting still in the sunlight.

I considered this. And I may have to resort to this plan before the challenge is through. I really didn't decide to do the full push-ups until I was down on the ground and it was go time. An impulsive decision, maybe. But we shall see how it goes. At least I only have one more upper body day left in Xpress Tone. After that, the recovery days for my push-up challenges will give me more chance to actually recover.

I am considering trying White CollidEscape for my windows. It's a bit pricey for my budget. But for my south-facing, street-facing windows, the privacy enhancement and heat blocking effects would be very welcome features in addition to the prevention of bird collisions. When you have a lot of birds in your area, I don't think any window treatment is going to be 100% effective in stopping collisions, but the CollidEscape products are recommended by the American Bird Conservancy. They have some additional suggestions here and here.

Those collision thuds are really hard to hear. Finding the dead birds is hard to see. Even though nothing you have tried thus far has been 100% effective in preventing collisions, your efforts may well be working to reduce the number of these unfortunate events.

Using wikipedia to search the term of species in another language (look up the page in the language you know, then switch the language) works better than google translate, google translate makes mistakes by translating it directly.

The swallow are beautiful! The first picture sure is a perfect shot!

Thank you for the post about swallows! Great photos, as always - I especially like the one of the babies demanding their dinner

Also, belated congratulations on Baseline! It is great that you and your mom were able to complete it together

                              Thank you NancyTree .

Google Translate is imperfect, certainly. But what I wanted in this case was the direct translation. ( Belerith had already given me the German common name. I wanted to know what that name means, since it's clearly not a direct translation of the English common name we use in North America.)
