I decided to take a walk around the parking lot of my work. We have to stay seated at our workstations and consume our lunches there due to social distancing. So depressing...so I decided as it was a beautiful day I would walk around and get fresh air and sunshine! I stumbled upon this Killdeer nest in the parking lot! The mom was none to pleased and squawked at me and did her little "dance". I have video I will try and see if I can load later. My take on her "dance" is she acts lame to draw attention away from the nest. These Plovers are all around my home and the babies, though hard to find, are so adorable! I hope I am able to see them once they are newly hatched Click image for larger version

ID:	671052 Its hard to tell but you can see her tail feathers are flared out and she has her feathers fluffed up...I have a Killdeer near my house I am tracking to see if I can find its nest. I am not as Knowledgeable as Rainbow Dragon , but i know enough to identify a lot of birds by their common names and now, thanks to her, I want to know more and get more involved

The eggs in the middle of the asphalt are fantastic

Fremen it's pretty great they are pretty hard to spot if you don't know where to look!

Now I have finally made my first submission to eBird (that i signed up to over a month ago) and that gave me a bug. Cant wait to spend some time focusing solely on birding, although for me that will be hard! I swear I have ADHD and my 'focus needs more focus' (as Mr. Han(Jackie Chan)says to Dre (Jaden Smith) in Karate Kid) ((love that movie!))

Wow! That is a cool find!

We have killdeer near me too. Not in my yard (so far), but I do see them in Rondeau (when it's open) and down by the storm runoff pond, and in a conservation area I visit sometimes. I've never found a nest though.

I hope how wrecked up the asphalt is around that nest keeps people from driving over that section of the parking lot!

No worries! No one drives or parks back in that area. Its at the very edge of the parking area, past the helipad

              March 27 - 29 >>>>>>Streak 14<<<<<<

Nothing terribly notable, but I walked all 3 days

Did some birding on Friday evening, went fishing on Saturday and cleaned house on Sunday.

Found the Killdeer nest by my house on Friday, but a couple days later the eggs were gone

I am having issues loading my photos to my Google drive and its really irritating me

How does it feel now when you're walking?

Rainbow Dragon it feels fine, even going up and down steep hills there is no pain. I had to sprint out to my dogs yesterday (the sisters got into a pretty bad fight ) and there was no pain with that either...I am cautiously optimistic!

ID:	672690 I walked during my lunch yesterday and this little momma was none to pleased with me being so close to her nest. She threw a fit every time i passed by, at times even refusing to leave the nest(they will chase you!)

streak >>>>> 15 <<<<<< back to 15 day streak! Lets see if I can make it to 30 this time!

walking during lunch(20min) and then walked the dogs at home(20min)

                          Congratulations on your 15 days!

                          Great shot of the killdeer!

Re: running: I would say you are ready to give it a go. But start slowly. Alternate periods of walking and jogging for 1km. See how that feels. So long as there is no pain, you can increase your speed and mileage a bit each day. If there is mild discomfort, but it does not get any worse over the course of your run, keep training, but do not ramp things up until there is more improvement. If there is pain that does get worse over the course of a run, stop and return to just walking (assuming that remains okay).

(I am an athlete with experience as a group exercise instructor. I am not a sports medicine professional. The "as long as the pain does not get worse over the course of your run, you can keep doing it" advice was given to me by a physiotherapist when I was rehabbing an injury.)

Thanks for the advice Rainbow Dragon !! I am ready to try! Running is not my favorite thing, but not being able to do it has really been bothering me.

                              Thank you Fremen

                              March 31 >>>>>> streak 16 <<<<<<

I almost lost my streak last night...i was so tired after getting off work, but around 8pm i made myself get out there and walk my dogs. It was a brisk evening so i made it a short walk as I was not appropriately dressed for the wind.
