Hey, thanks, Librarian. Wherever you feel like posting is great. I'll post on my check in and the meditation thread I think. I wish you well with it, and should give Kanary the credit for suggesting the meditation thread should try it out this month.

Thank you, colinclean but it's all you: You started the meditation thread! I just thought that if there were other people doing it already, maybe someone else might like to join me on the 30 day challenge.

One of the main things I've learnt about meditation is that there is no right or wrong way to do it, just different ways. Your way sounds good to me, inner peace is a lovely thing to have I may have missed this earlier in your thread, but are you doing the no sugar challenge for a whole year without any exceptions?

Zastria I see the meditation-thingy as you, and the calm feeling is a great reward, sadly the feeling is not always permanently. Regarding the no-sugar-thingy: well, through our rules which I stated here, we grant us 10 cheat-occasions per person - because we all know sometimes life happens - for example the upcoming saturday will be such a day. Before the challenge we ordered a table at a japanese restaurant - and there will definitiely be sugar and that is definitely a restaurant where I will not skip a dish - the place is too tasty for the librarian if it is 3, 5, 8, or even 12 in the end, we will still be proud about the 365-days-journey and the accompanied experience - but nonetheless we aim for the best result. Of course you are welcome to join us should be very, very easy over the chrsitmas time I think

I choose not to pursue the total-abs program further - will do some meditation and yoga instead, I am in the mood for the latter, so, who am I to stand in my way?

Thanks for all the detail re your no-sugar challenge! I'll probably do a light version of it, as my aim at this point is to cut down more than eliminate (small wins!). I got my partner on board, so once we move into our new place (should be within a month or so), we'll try and do the following for 6 months:
                  1) No added sugar/sweeteners
                  2) Honey without limitations - we both don't sweeten tea/coffee so I don't see much danger. Might encourage us to bake something!
                  3) Unlimited fruit
                  4) Cocktails and other alcohol okay. Cut down on drinking a few months back and that's going okay.
                  5) Exceptions okay where unavoidable or unmissable. Keeping the grandmother happy and partaking in any fancy celebration meals.

It probably doesn't sound like much, but this will be a major step for me. Thanks!

alleycat That sounds like an awesome plan - definitely no small feat!
And it is really good that you have your partner on board - that makes things easier, espescially motivation, etc. It would be great to know and learn how things will develop for the both of you throughout the challenge, so, please share your thoughts and adventure with us - of course only if you like. we would gladly follow you on your quest, fitness and sugar-wise, and cheer you on

sleep_twitch how should I put it ... there was this "accident" ... no ... lets call it "experiment" in the Unseen University ... and something went totally wrong, not my doing of course, but there was this little bugger Rincy who blew things up ... no, joke aside, I threw it away ... I think and feel that I need a change atm ... but don´t worry, the new one is already in preparation and will probably be finished on the morrow - thanks to Librarianista

                          cool-down

cold shower takes still a great deal of willpower, especially in december ... but when I stand there after the first minute or so, it feels good, safe, warm and well-protected. Still can´t work it really out yet - very interresting - lets see were my journey goes. I don´t feel any kind of stiffness, on the contrary. The whole body feels better the next day, especially the muscles. I know some leg days from the past which gave me some really nasty doms and muscle ache, since I add cold-showers to my routine, nothing - believe me, I am not sad about that

I did the Wim-Hof-Breathing-technique before my meditation, followed by the shower - amazing feeling and combination, great - danger of repetition

I also wanted to start with yoga ... but am not quite sure what and how and, well, you know, I don´t have problems with burpees, push-ups, weights, planks & CO and everything else that makes fun but I am not quite sure how flexible I am when concerning yoga. I thought about starting with Adriene - many bees recommended her in their check-ins - but I thought, try out some poses before - and then decide if it works out for me - then I thought of the 1min yoga challenge - every day one yoga pose holding 1 minute - how best to check the body-compatibility. Therefore today day 1 - if it makes fun, I will continue with 30 days of yoga with Adriene I think, or have some of you other suggestions and thoughts to share?

Oh yes, and in case you have forgotten - another "Bergfest" today - 2 more days my bees

I like the "down dog" app (free) better bc there is less exteanious chatter. And you can set it to your level, it also has pose tutorials

I use both Down Dog and Yoga with Adriene, but for different purposes - if I want to stretch or do something for my back (so, the physical side of yoga), I use Down Dog. If I want some "me time", tune into my body, distract myself or I feel depressed / had a rough day etc., I do Adriene's videos, because she talks a lot about the connection between body and mind, how to stop negative self talk etc. There's also some breathing exercises (pranayama) you can learn and use to calm down / focus etc. I also like Yoga with Cassandra - she teaches exhausting physical practices as well as calmer classes with intense stretching (yin yoga).
