Hi nell - thanks to drop by
IT and books is an awesome combination. But I am more the IT-guy then a "real-librarian" - but nonetheless a real book-devourer and a great Pratchett Fan my wife is the real librarian in the family.
In which town is your library if you don´t mind me asking!?

Have fun with the recipe - it is really delicious

I'm also in IT, sysadmin. My library is near Frankfurt am Main (ULB). Yours?

The funny thing about books is this year most of my books I read on my tablet.
I didn't read Pratchett yet, I remember it's fantasy. Which one would you advise me to start with?

nell mine is: (UB JCS) or as my wife would call it: "Sigel 30"

regarding Sir Terry: difficult question - very difficult question indeed ... An old schoolmate introduced me to the Discworld series with the book "Mort" - it got me addicted.
It features a story with one of my favourite characters of Discworld: "Death"

You can´t do anything wrong with "Mort". It all depends on what you like ... you can divide the discworld novels into sections - e.g. there are the novels which cover the character Death, or the wizzards, or the witches, or the City-Guard ... Or you can just choose a topic which you are interested in - because the discworld novels always cover a special subject.

but there is no wrong book to start with IMO, but my personal recommendations would be "Mort" or "Guards! Guards". Looking forward to your feedback.

What genres are you interested in - respectively what are you reading atm? well, i am always quite keen to find new books for my ever-growing to-read-pile. if you haven´t found it - in the chat-room there is a thread were we share the books we are reading atm - perhaps this would be something for you as well? If you are interested, here is the lnk

I'm just starting to read Discworld too, and I was advised to start with "Guards! Guards!" - and I found it a good book to start. I'm currently reading the second book in the City Guard section (that I don't remember the title of, bc I read in french, so I remember only the french title).
I think I'll read all things related to the City Guards and then the witches or Death or... I don't know but I'll read by sections.

And now: the rest of the sunday: I think there will be some relaxation after yesterday. Netflix or Prime - but lets see, a good book, my guitar - and a lots of cooking - also need to bake a new bread!

Enjoy your Sunday Bees! Wherever you are

we have a similar event every year... the main attraction for me are the wafers, freshly made in front of you while you wait with a watery mouth.... then a generous squirt of calvados is put onto the hot deliciousness...
                        ooohhhhhj

ok, I will follow the advice by Nefisa and post some cooking stuff.

Today I did, among other things, bread. But this time I didn´t want the normal stuff, I needed something new to experiment with. Therefore I did a kind of "party-bread".
(gluten-free-Bread-dough with beetroot-hummus, and as topping: deer-sausage with onions)

Well, let the pictures tell the whole story

I finally check your thread after seeing your awesome avatar and user name and this is what I find
So: a thousand times yes! My first Pratchett also was "Mort", and it also got me hooked and I read through all of the Discworld series. I recently re-read the first three books of the guards series, it made me so happy to "spend time" with the night watch again! And I'll have to check the reading thread too.

And @nell, here is an awesome guide to help navigate through the many books of the night watch.

The medieval market looked like a ton of fun, and your bread looks delicious!
