    and I second twinkletoes

I think it was a full-sized scone, Librus, and then the mail-chained boot of Anglo-Norman oppression came and stomped on it, turning it into the slightly inflated biscuit it is today. Like Owain Glyndwr, it will rise again and is never defeated!*

*Seriously, chuck a few overcooked Welsh cakes at someone and they'd know about it!

Just to complete the full Welsh cakery - and perhaps you'd like to make these so they can be exported to Germany (my cousin lives in Germany so I hope he's making many a Welsh cake and giving them to his neighbours in Munchen!) - the other most typically traditional Welsh cakes are:

Bara brith (http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/bara_brith_33441) a sort of fruit bread or tea loaf, and...

That's all I can come up with at the moment. My mother makes something called something like (phonetic Welsh attempt here) tart ar y raddach*, which is a folded fruit pastry (wimberries for preference) made on a Welsh bakestone (Welshcakes are also, traditionally, made on a bakestone). Bakestones are quite a big deal in Welsh traditional culture and they're supposed to be handed down through families - my Taid (grandfather) had my mum's made at a metal foundry, I believe, as a wedding present!

*I cannot find this anywhere online. I think "raddach" is Welsh for bakestone, or at least that is what my mother has told me, but the Internet (a filthy Anglosphere invention!) is telling me differently. But Welsh can be quite a localised language with lots of dialects, so it could be that. Anyway, it is delicious and I will ask my mother for the recipe!

#CoffeePorn: My new favorite drink is cold brew with almond milk, sweetened with a bit of agave syrup.

It took me a while to figure out how I like cold brew - mixing it with hot water makes this tea-like, thin stuff that is not "strong enough" for me, and with ice cubes, it reminds me too much of "cold coffee" (it doesn't taste like normal filter coffee when it gets cold, but the idea just creeps me out). But with almond milk, it's just the perfect drink for summer - I love it! I should try to mix it with hot almond milk instead of hot water for autumn / winter. Probably "normal" milk works well, too - I only had almond milk at home to make banana bread for my vegan colleagues.

I can't wait to make cold brew from the coffee beans my colleagues gave me as a farewell present! My self-roasted coffee tastes a lot like chocolate, it's really interesting

I had almost that exact drink the other day at the coffee shop. I can forget how much I like almond milk, but it can be so delicious in coffee.

It's really quick - just roast your green coffee beans for 20mins, let them cool down, put them in a jar, wait 5 days, grind the beans, put them in a french press, pour over water, wait 24hrs, then you have cold brew that you mix with the agave syrup and the almond milk

Or you go to Starbucks and order it - but that will be expensive and probably not as good

Easy choice since I've not once bought anything at Starbucks in my life.

                        #CoffeePorn:

DIY is awesome - experimenting is awesome - the result is awesome - and so many facets about the bean - i just say: chocolate

Glad that you enjoyed your Cold-Brew!

We had another food-truck-festival in our neighbourhood - therefore we were walking to our food today

And because we all love some food-porn from time to time - I made some pictures. Enjoy!
