    Kanary that ate the cat

Usually I keep a detailed training journal on paper, so this is sort of just that with anything personal scrubbed out. But I thought having a check-in thread might be helpful, so we'll see how that goes.

    So today:
Day 87 / 100 Days of Kata - I am under the impression that when you do a kata every day for 100 days, you are supposed to learn something special about it. At day 87, I begin to suspect what you learn is that you need to do another 100 days of it.
50 bo strikes - There's just a technique I need to practice until I have it down.
100 basic strikes - Again, just basics. Do basics until you are bored. Then do them some more.
50 knee to elbow crunches (Daily Dare) - No EC for me today. Doing more than a couple on each side felt weird, and I trusted my body on that.
100 squat-hold punches (Weekly Quest) - More basics! Yay basics!
Jedi Workout - I feel very passionately about all those plank variations. By which I mean that I hate them but I also love them. This may be going in my favorites queue.

In theory, Wednesday is a "casual training" day (unless something happened and I need to make up a workout). My cubemate is out on vacation (lucky!) so I'm doing sets of 50 squat hold punches toward the Weekly Quest throughout the day.

50 squat hold punches (Weekly Quest) x13
60 second tricep dip hold (Daily Dare) - harder than it looks
      Day 89 / 100 Days of Kata
      50 bo strikes
      100 basic strikes

        200 leg raises (Daily Dare)
50 squat hold punches (Weekly Quest)
Talk to the Hand workout - it seemed like a good idea

Shortly, I'll be heading to martial arts, for day 90 / 100 Days of Kata and a whole lot of general MA goodness.

And I see that DB has figured out my true talent. Loving the Donut Achievement!

          6 April 2016

Back from 3 days of intense training at the dojo. I wouldn't say I gave myself Tuesday (the 5th) off, but I didn't do much formal.

Today is Day 96 of my 100 days of kata practice.
I came home with some other homework, which I also worked on.

And then Hero's Journey, Day 1, Level 3 - broken out into sets of 50. I added 50 basic strikes and 50 bo strikes to each set, because I am also working on those things.

It will probably take me some extra time to finish Hero's Journey, since I'm not going to promise myself that I will do it *and* go to the dojo on days when I have class, but I will at least start out trying to do both. If/When it gets to be too much, the dojo always wins.

Hero's Journey, Day 2, Level 3 - Get Involved - I am terrible about minding my own business.

            Class at the dojo tonight.

LOVE your thread title. I just had to pop in and check out your check ins. I cracked up when I saw

I'm super introverted. Not sure how you meant that but I can see me getting into all kinds of trouble if I was supposed to choose to get involved, LOL. Hermit on the mountain is more my style.

I hope you enjoy your heroes journey Kanary!

Squirrel I'm actually pretty introverted too, but I am also prone to jumping in to help strangers.

Glad you like the thread title!

                      8 April

I spent most of the day at a comic con, so lots of walking. And I'm still pretty sore from yesterday at the dojo.

Hero's Journey, Day 3: I went for the ribbon, the martial arts practice. It might have been a little light, but it was about right for the day.

Hero's Journey, Day 4: I was really happy for this active rest day.
Day 99 / 100 Days of Kata Practice: I am starting to consider if I will continue with this kata or if I will pick a different one. I may ask one of my sempai for an opinion.
Basic strikes and bo strikes 3 sets of 8 (since Part 1 of the HJ workout was set up in 3 sets of 8): I may pick some more of these up throughout the day. We'll see.

I also need to do a little review on a new kata sometime today and I have museum plans for the afternoon that will involve lots of walking.

                          10 April

I'm skipping the Hero's Journey for today because today is the official last day of my 100 Days of Kata Practice. Well, and because it was a particularly sweaty day at the dojo earlier and I don't have a lot of energy left for a second workout. I need to consider what I learned during this 100 Days and what I am doing next regarding that and take some notes from class. I may try to pull off a Darebee stretching workout this evening, but I may also decide that I just want to sit quietly.
