    Calories in fruit

Hi, guys I just wanted to ask, when I google for example calories in cherries I get info that it is around 43 kcal but the question I have is this. If I eat 100 gram of cherries but the thing I don't eat from them like, the top part of it or the seed that is inside, I weigh them down and they are like around 15-20 grams, so did I eat 43 kcal or less because I have no idea does the seed count or not.

I think that the nutritionists have not counted calories from eating the seeds, though you are right that they have some calorie content in them.

Calorie counts are for the edible portions. The sticks and pits are not food and not counted.

This site shows 18kcal / 28g of just fruit(no seeds) and that matches what I see elsewhere too. It's important to remember that the google responses that just pop up with an answer MAY be from google or MAY be from another source google uses and the details about if their calculation is before or after trimming the inedible bits get lost in translation.

dco326....It could just be me, but I always figure the calorie counts are only for the edible parts. So, with only a few exceptions that I can think of (kiwi being one), I wouldn't figure pits and stems in for calories given. That being said, as others mentioned, I wouldn't go by what Google specifically says. I would only go by a reputable site for nutrition information.

Either way please don't eat the seeds, they have arsenic...lots of it.

if the seeds are edible like pumpkin/squash then there is some calorie in that but if its not edible then i wouldnt say that the calories come from that.. even pumpkin/squash they toast the seeds before eating so I dont know if they would consider those seeds in the calorie for pumkin or not
