    How to handle aching muscles during the workout programs.

    Hi im a new one here after a long lasting injury and subsequent covid lockdown i finally came around to loosing my extra weight and getting into shape again.

    I am no stranger to fitness but right now i am at my worst. I started with the zero hero program but after day 3 i am facing severe muscle aching especially in my legs.

    Any tips how to handle this? Should i skip some days or do other programs instead? Toughening it out seems like a bad idea to me...

    Thanks in advance

    Vash90 welcome to The Hive and the worst thing for us when we get back into fitness is exactly what you experience: the pain and fatigue that mark the gap between what we know we will be able to do and what we can do right now. I'd say, if possible, choose a light workout that works the part of the body that is now hurting less (or not at all) and allow your legs to recover. So you need something with light upper body work or, even some stretching. We have quite a lot of stretching workouts and even some breathing ones which you can find through the use of the filter on our Workouts page. What you shouldn't do right now is do nothing and wait to recover. The pain will go away but it will be that much harder afterwards to start again. I really hope this helps. (and please keep us informed if possible, through your posts, on your progress. Your journey inspires countless others.}

      I remember when I was first learning Tai Chi Chuan back in '79, the class was 2 and 1/2 hours twice a week plus daily home practice for an hour. A lot of leg work and our legs felt it and knees were sore, when someone mentioned this our teacher sez it goes away, and it did. This wasn't yer old ladies Tai Chi more of a grueling Kung Fu workout, even a 15 minute horse stance.
