    Jump Rope Question

So, I realized that part of the reason I never use my jump rope is that I think it's too long. Does anyone have any good guidance on jump rope lengths? How do I figure out the right length? I assume it's probably related to height, but that's really the extent of my knowledge.

    Kanary here's what I found :
Height of Jumper Length of Rope
    4ft up to 4' 9" 7ft
    4' 10" - 5' 3" 8ft
    5' 4" - 5' 11" 9ft
    6' 0" - 6' 4" 10ft
    6' 4" + 11ft

        A quick check:
Stand on the rope with both feet (feet together).
Hold the handles so they point forward.
        Pull the rope tight (up).
        Your elbows should be ~90°

As you can see I am a very bad artist, but I think I get the point across.
        Hope this helps.

          I think that's a nice interpretation, Andi64.
I know it a bit different from my rope skipping days. Stand with both feet on the rope and hold the rope up and it should be on the level of your sternum, hands directly in front, held together. Always worked for me. Perhaps it depends on the height of the person?

Awesome! By literally any of those measures, indeed, the jump rope I have is a waaay too long. Now I know!

Can you make it shorter, Kanary ?
Depends on what material it is made of and also handles. I have seen on youtube some advices how to do it, without cutting..for example here...
